Idk if I’m too old for this or what but I’ve noticed most Gen Z women wear the same outfit. High waisted baggy jeans kinda like boot cut style maybe even with some cargo pocketing (for utility ?) plus crop top and sneakers and almost all of them wear their hair parted in the middle. Maybe they’re rejecting sexualized clothing? I have no idea tbh, but it was the first time I noticed so many people wearing essentially the same outfit.

TBH, I dressed like that in the 80s because I had no choice. I realize that it's not necessarily Zoomers fault either since they buy what's available and most of it is crap.

Dressing in a confident manner isn't necessarily for the male gaze. I think a lot of the sloppy dress is due to the "not like other girls" phenomenon coming from the entertainment industry. People do try to peg you based on how you're dressed, unfortunately. It's easier to dress decently and not have to explain yourself. I learned the hard way my first year of teaching.

I suggest anyone who's trying to transition out of "junior" clothing (US) try to identify a woman with the same build who dresses well to go to consignment shops or even Goodwill to find appropriate clothing. When you're able to dress appropriately, you will immediately feel more confident and people will be more deferential. That's a great way to feel great!

I might be too old but... I don't actually know what makes someone a "zoomer" or what their styles and hobbies are! But I have noticed all the fast fashion looks exactly like what I wore in high school in the 90s and that amuses me.

The word, “cheugy” does not bother me at all. Clearly, I’m too old to care hahaha. I do not stay in trend in what is cheugy and not cheugy.

Cheugy felt like another way to talk shit about what women like. People would list a bunch of old trends for women and one guy thing and call it even.

Look… I’m super over skinny jeans. I’m old enough to remember bootcut jeans and I’m so, so glad they’re back. The wider leg is a long time coming. The kids are right- skinny jeans have overstayed their welcome and should have been gone seasons ago.

Don’t resist the wider leg.
