There's something so warm and satisfying about talking or meowing to a cat and having it meow back at me 🤗 Can't say the same about the majority of men.

I talk a lot when I’m nervous, so the first date I ever went on from OLD (years and years ago), I talked the whole time, and he barely got a word in edgewise. Surprise surprise, he didn’t want to see me again. I felt bad, so the next date I went on, I talked very little, just smiled and ate my food. The guy talked A LOT, never asked me any questions, me then at the end practically begged me to go out with him again because I was “so understanding and cool.” I didn’t, of course, and I doubt that caused him to he change his ways like I had.

A few years ago a man who had previously called me mysterious ghosted me. I actually spent time beating myself up about talking too much and ruining the mystery for him. 🤦‍♀️

This same man called me exotic and I didn't run for the hills. Even worse is my country is embarrassingly homogenous, so much so that both sides of a deep ethnic/cultural divide have the same stereotypes for the physical characteristics of the other. I look very much like everyone else here.

I just got told by my soon-to-be-ex that he no longer wants to talk about politics or social justice issues with me cuz he doesn't want "to live in that world." He's a white narcissistic cishet man from a wealthy family. I get that these issues (in spite of him having a daughter) don't affect him.

However, I'd like to point out that when he met me, I was applying my pol sci degree as an intel analyst and now I'm going back to school for counseling and social justice advocacy. I've always donated and volunteered my time/skills to issues I believe in. I was a public policy analyst for several years. In other words, he doesn't want to talk to me about anything related to my primary professional and personal interests any more. Okay, bye then.
