That's because liberal/third wave feminism is not an intellectual movement. It's literally just pandering, which is why it doesn't make sense.

Instead of ignoring men's whining like efficient feninists did before, liberal feminists pander to men and are obsessed with making men "allies".

Liberal feminists let males convince them that men are "victims", which is where their favorite buzzphrases like "patriarchy hurts men too", "men aren't allowed to express emotions" and "men are pressured to be breadwinners" come from.

A man recently told me I was the first women he’d ever been with then didn’t want to be slapped in the face. He positioned it that I was the weird one for not wanting to be basically beaten up during sex. He said he personally had no preference either way. It’s one thing having a man showing off his strength and muscles and throwing you around a bit vs. putting you through completely degrading acts.

I don't necessarily have an issue if an individual woman decides to do these behaviors on her own, but trying to convince all of us that it's okay through these various movements, is detrimental. Like stop using movements to justify your own harmful behaviors.

Hi Ladies! I'm from northern Europe, and here ORIGINALLY (don't think that anymore) if a man wants to pay for me, it would mean he doesn't think I can pay for myself, invalidating my worth as a woman earning money by herself. We are more jealous of our status as equals, maybe because it was mainly women who rebuilt Europe after the war, so any instance where we see men taking over we slighty freak out. Lurking this sub for a while, I understand this differently and totally agree to FDS mentality now. Now for sex work, I wouldn't say it's empowering, but I would never judge the women who do it, as it is mostly done out of desperation. In my country the 'costumers' are penalised, not the girls, they are given housing, psychological and medical care, education, jobs, care for their children, all for free. And still a lot go back to it, so I'm not really sure how to solve the problem. Anyway, sorry for the rant, just thought I could give some perspective

How is a woman making a choice “setting women back?” Isn’t being free to make your own decisions as a woman the whole point? No one is forcing me to put up with a Dusty, no one is telling me I must pay for half, and I’m not socially required to pretend that I respect a man who makes less money than me. I’d rather be alone than tolerate that shit. It’s my choice to be and I’m happy to have it.

I'd identify as a liberal (or further left) and a feminist.

Of course I want equal rights for women. That's compatible with not considering men who don't pay for dates.

I believe that women can do BDSM or be sexually permissive if they want to, just like I believe women can gain 150 pounds if they want to. It's your right to do it, but it's not healthy and I'm not going to give you a medal.
