I was scrolling through my feed today and saw a post where the OP basically asked if she was wrong for telling her husband that she wasn't going to reward him for doing shit he should be doing and I was struck by how often I see posts like that. Like who raises these guys??

I just don't get it. I can't imagine birthing a son and raising him to be an entitled little asshole like that. I get why men do it: they were shitty and now they think it's okay, even right, for their sons to be shitty too. But why the fuck would a woman raise her son to treat other women the way she's been treated?? I mean just imagine spending 18 years raising an entire person and he leaves the nest unable to cook, clean, manage money, or manage his emotions because his mom just...did all that for him and expects some other poor woman to do it for him in the future. It's such a failure and a waste.

And it's not like it's doing that son any favors either. He's gonna start his adult life SURE that some woman should be caring for him because that's what he was taught to expect. And at some point he'll either embrace being useless or realize that he needs to level up. Of course everyone is capable of leveling up and as an adult every man is responsible for his own actions, but it's a lot harder to turn into a well rounded, capable individual when you were raised to be incompetent and entitled.

Now I'm sure raising good sons in the world we live in isn't simple, and I'm not trying to say it's women's fault that men suck, I'm really just talking about women who don't see a problem with their sons turning out like that. I don't know if it's a cultural thing, a pick me thing, or what, but I really wish parents of sons would put more effort into raising complete individuals instead of barely functioning cavemen. Cause honestly, living like that or living with someone like that is just sad.
