Literally knew a group of men who KNEW a friend in the group was a rapist and they would all defend him (even though one of their wives was a rape survivor as well) and any guy who spoke out against this? Wasn’t invited to group gatherings and made fun of. Even when asked if they confronted said rapist friend they’d all avoid it.
Men don’t care about rape just as long as it’s far away from their sexual pleasure (ie the women they are having sex with wives girlfriends doesn’t matter)
Edit: these men are 35-40 years of age I’m not talking about college boys.

Humour is how I’m coping after several years and just recently seeing this man advocate for supporting / believing women when he hurt me and gaslit me into thinking I deserved to be assaulted. I hate performative activism and I’m trying to stay calm after seeing so much of it

It’s always a red flag to me when a man says his friends girlfriend is a bitch. I’ll play columbo and ask them what happened etc and it’ll be some bullshit of “she didn’t talk to me at dinner!” And I’ll feign shock “oh my! I have an acquaintance who sees himself as a feminist - He and I had a falling out due to his best friend that assaulted me when I was a young teenager.
The story that my abuser told/ tells is that I was desperate and all over him - and he did what any man would do and used me and blocked me because I was 'crazy'.
When I confronted my acquaintance about the fact that I was not ashamed about who I had sex with, even the messy situations. That his best friend, my abuser, was a lying bastard that knew he was lying because why else tell people not to tell me?
Well.. of course my acquaintance said he wasn't going to call his friend out on the bullshit because and I quote "he had always been a good guy to me"
It was when I realized that even men that claim to be on your side will quietly look the other way if it effects them too much.

I am so sorry for what you had to deal with and the “well he was good to ME” comment is the most hurtful and common in these situations. In many instances, people are uncomfortable with the reality of things and would actually prefer to A) stay ignorant (pls don’t tell me! He would never…” ) or B) avoid responsibility and create their own narrative to avoid losing “friendships” barf.
My friend was a pick me who I’ve known for years. She met my abuser once for less than 2 hrs and guess who she defended for being a rapist? Of course he was nice to you, you don’t know him like I do unfortunately. Anyways it was very hurtful and I felt very low about the whole thing, but I felt 10x worse hearing it from a woman :-/

Also except for the ones his friends assaulted because they would never do that, and the ones famous men assaulted because the women just want attention.
Also, sadly, often the ones in his own circle who tell him about it because they might just be lying for attention and it would mean he'd have to admit he didn't look out for his female friends and/or didn't help (enabled it) and also not all men (I know I sound salty but that's my experience)
