Lol yeah, same. No one can claim "not all men" with dogs not liking men, though. 🙄😂
It's pretty disturbing how common it is for animals to not like or be scared of men, but it says a lot. I've never heard of any dogs or cats specifically being scared of just women. 🤷🏼♀️

So true! My family has a pet donkey that we inherited with a farm and it took so long for him to be comfortable around my father because he just really doesn’t trust men. Breaks my heart to think of why🥺

Anyone else notice the significant amount of dogs that do not do well around men? I have NEVER heard someone say “oh sorry, my dog is just not good with women” 🤔

I watch HopeForPaws (youtube channel about animal rescues) and even the man who runs the channel and rescue says that lots of times he needs to bring a female volunteer/member, because many, many dogs are afraid of getting near men.
It just says a lot that even dogs, "man's best friend," have been victims of so much abuse that dogs being afraid of male humans is common.

Sometimes birds have pretty strict gender preferences and can’t stand women if the previous owner was male! Though dogs are more likely to react this way after abuse and as violence is more common in men, it’s probably reflected in dogs being scared around men.

Yes! I used to pet sit and one sweet male dog hated men with an absolute passion!!

I've seen many many dogs that don't handle men well. My lovely boy is one of them. Apparently it's because before we adopted him, he was in an extermination center in Romania. Those centers are usually managed by men and they're not at all kind to the dogs.

I'm sorry your dog didn't have a good time, but he has you now. ❤️

And my family are lucky to have him with us! He's got less nervous around men over the years and gets on well with my great uncle and my grandfather (both great animal lovers, uncle adopts ex racing greyhounds and grandpa has cats, and who don't have loud, scary voices) which is good.

Great FDS uniform, where do I order one?

I got both dogs in the divorce, today I have to warn men to keep their distance, they don’t like men ( except my son and grandsons). Is it bad I love my personal body guards lol. If I stop to talk, the 80 lb shepherd leans across my legs protecting me and the 50 lbs Aussie stands in front standing guard. I’m surrounded by love and protection.

It's not wrong at all. They are protecting you which is super sweet.
When I was pregnant, my cats stopped going outside while my husband was at work. One stayed within about a metre of me, and one guarded to door to whichever room I was in.

They were with me during the abuse, licked my tears away many nights. Today it’s me and fur babies living our best life.

I'm glad. ❤️ So glad you got them in the divorce too, I know many men would have tried to keep them.out of spite.

He did try lol, new gf had a tiny dog and no room. It turned out the way it should have.

This has confirmed one of my future goals is to have a wonderful big guard dog to love and care for (no room in my current living situation, they need adequate space to run around and I have no yard). I love that you're surrounded by love and protection

This is one of my life goals as well! Buy a nice house with a big backyard, so I can have 1-2 big dogs who will protect me, and I will protect them.

I’ve fostered a bunch of dogs and every single one was scared of men, can’t blame them.

So, my dog hates little boys, probably because they’re rough when they try to pet her. Here’s my question- how can she differentiate boys and girls? They don’t have pheromones to speak of, she hates boys with long hair, still loves girls with short hair. And she decides from a distance. The more logical thing is that she would hate children, but nope. Just boys.

They must smell different, even pre puberty there must be some hormonal difference.

Considering that dogs can smell cancer smelling a gender doesn't sound out of reality

My dog has never been abused but he always has been more aggressive towards men. Maybe cus he’s more attached to me and my mom. Or maybe he just senses the aggression in men in general. He loves my dad and brothers tho.

Actually need this for my dog lol. She really doesn’t trust men especially with beards/facial hair
[–]AdawritesrulesFDS Disciple5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yup next time someone says not all men, ask them why dogs don’t like men then, when no dog ever reacts that way towards women

That dog’s FACE...!
The doggie equivalent of “Honey, you would not BELIEVE some of the shit I have seen.”
I feel you, sis. ✊🏼
