I'm in my late 30's. Been dating a man for about 10 weeks now. He said and did all the right things. Planned nice dates and took me out. Waited for sex until I was ready. Paid for almost everything and got upset the couple of times I insisted. Helped me with a few little things around my house. NOT a porn user, very good and giving in bed.

I was starting to think he was someone worth being in a relationship with. He'd said a few things that told me his politics are to the right of mine, but most people's politics are to the right of mine. He had also said a few things about "women taking everything in a divorce" but from what I understand his divorce was pretty nasty. So I let those slide.

Anyway today he was watching something on TV and said something (all of this happened via text) about "greedy women" and how men really need to be careful these days because it's so scary with false rape claims and women taking men to the cleaners in divorce. I tried to be civil but it escalated and I ended up losing my shit. I was anally raped by my boyfriend at the time a little over a year ago. I haven't told anyone that. I was also molested as a kid. I haven't told anyone that except my therapist. I had a Tinder date attempt to rape me a few years ago but I managed to kick him in the crotch and get the hell out. And to hear a man talk about "what a scary world it is. . . ." I lost it. I started crying and nearly threw up. Apparently I haven't dealt with last year's assault as well as I thought. Anyway I told him he was either hopelessly naive or just plain ignorant and I hope that one day he finds a woman who can help him learn, but I am not that woman because I have to take care of my own mental health. Then I blocked him.

Did I do the right thing? Did I over-react? I can't believe I was ready to let my guard down with this guy. I can't believe I told him about my trauma. I feel violated that I even did that. It shouldn't be this hard, should it?
