Recently found out my ex was engaged. I told my mom, and she said “oh I’m sorry. It’s his loss, do you even realize what a catch you are” to her surprise I said “yes, I realize I’m so much better than him.” She laughed and said “good I’m glad you know it.”

She knows I have serious self esteem issues, but even with my tiny sliver of self esteem, I realize how much better I am than him. Part of me even wanted to warn his fiancé, but I thought “naw, keep it classy, she’ll figure it out soon enough.”

Had a moment of weakness last year and looked up my abusive ex on Facebook with a burner account since I had blocked him on my main. He posted a pic about going to court... looked him up in my county and found there was a temporary restraining order against him for domestic violence. That could have been me. He also posted pics of a new baby. That could have been me. Really eye-opening. I don't stalk exes anymore, not worth my time.
