Let me just make it clear here that any comments or posts that defend MGTOW and/or MGTOW2, or promote places they moved to, will be removed. Repeatedly doing so will lead to a ban.

As much as possible, we need to protect our community here, and avoid association with subs banned for misogyny. You may choose whichever way you want to go, but bigotry is not okay.

I honestly agree. I found r/mensrights and was really happy I did. Saw them talk about mgtow, checked the sub and it was filled with misogynistic shit. I was afraid to speak up about it.

We don't hate women, we love men. I have no problem with men going their own way, but don't drag women down with you, even if 99%, of them are shit (which is not true obviously) that 1% doesn't deserve it.

This is the only 'safe space' I've found where men's issues are discussed without hatred or some weird political cult bull..if it goes that's ridiculous.

That said, FDS really needs to go and go yesterday.

I don't disagree, but I'm skeptical that banning subs like that because of it will lead to anything good. It seems to me like it will only further encourage the persecution complex and force them into more isolated, less moderated and open places where they can be monitored. I have the same opinion about incels, gendercritical (which I've been banned from for saying not all men are rapists), FDS, etc. It brings me some comfort to know that we can actually monitor these people, screencap them if we need to for reference (such as proving misandry exists in the case of those last two subs I mentioned), and keep ourselves up to date on what kind of opposition is aligned against us. Bad ideas should be defeated in the free market of debate, not empowered by martyrdom.

MGTOW wasn't even half as bad as the TrollXchromosome/FemaleDatingStrategy/ PinkPlll are now. MGTOW absolutely deserved have been banned but that's not the issue. The issue is the double standard.

Also, (for better or for worse (admittedly worse considering the blatant misogyny there) MGTOW was one of the only places where men were allowed to air the grievance they have with a society that doesn't see them as human. I'm almost certain that inexcusable antiwomen sentiment there was due them embracing the role that feminists branded them with already. "Thou call'dst me dog before thou hadst a cause; But, since I am a dog, beware my fangs."

Again MGTOW DESERVED the ban, but reddit's unwillingness to even acknowledge the toxicity and evil that spews from feminist subreddits proves that the MGTOW ban had nothing to due with equality or enforcing the rules.

I do agree but I feel like the bigger issue is that this banning is going to create a slippery slope. While I wasn't a fan of the reddits or even with the movement since I have some issues with many inside the said movement go about things. I do fear this is going to create two problems which have already been mentioned. The first is that the MGTOW crowd will flock to other Male centric reddits like this one or in the Men's Rights reddit. The second is that it's creating a ripple effect. I already mentioned that anything that the reddit admins think or believe is "misogynistic" regardless if they are or not, is right now on their radar. I've seen a lot of divided discussions on this banning from various reddits and it appears to be divided with people from both sides getting into heated debates. I briefly checked out one on r/FeMRADebates and saw there was some heated arguments to the point were the upvotes and downvotes aren't being shown. At this point, I feel like it's best to just not to riled up over it even if some people here may be upset about the decisions, it's likely not going to work in our favor. Now with that said, I know it's mentions how the FDS reddit often a talking point of double standards, I think people need to screen shot and save all instances of misandry and continue doing so if this is already happening. This is probably going to better way to try and make a difference on this site.

Personally, I think nearly every male centered subreddit except this one, r/Male_Studies and mensupportmen are absolute dog shit.

Either they are filled with vitriolic anti-women bullshit, feminist pandering, or absolutely no moderation.

100% agreed. MGTOW kind of had it coming. They’re not even a men’s advocacy group. Even if they were, they weren’t a good one and should not be representing us. I’m still worried about the banning of this sub however. I’m also worried that the former MGTOW leaders are gonna flock to (maybe not this one) but actual MRA subs and completely infiltrate them. Hopefully that doesn’t happen here. Though, they’re pretty hostile to anything left-wing so that seems unlikely.

Agreed- a lot of that sub was just misogynistic woman-hating crap. This is the best sub for addressing male issues (the main MensRights sub veers into MGTOW territory sometimes, sadly- look at the recent posts in there; there’s also sometimes a lot of casual racism in that sub, I’ve noticed as well- I’ve had to unsub from it. They were getting too far-right for my liking, e.g linking their statistics to biased ‘right-wing’ sources- whereas those sub doesn’t link any political sources.). I’ve also noticed a lot of hatred towards minority groups in there, unfortunately. I feel like when I’ve addressed man-hating and how it bothers me with some people, they automatically think ‘MGTOW’, which isn’t the case at all- I think a lot of posts in the main MensRights sub are silly, let alone the MGTOW sub. And then MensLib is too radical in the other direction, leaning towards more feminist territory at times. I feel this sub certainly has the most fair depiction of male issues, and it’s definitely the least biased :)

MGTOW was an incel and misogynist cesspool. It deserved to get canned. MGTOW2 was meant to be MGTOW without all the misogyny that plagued the predecessor, and the mods did try to keep it clean, but at the end of the day it was always “well women are just like ___” or hypergamy or constant “redpill truths”. Breeding ground for misogyny where they will say “I don’t hate women” constantly, but they’re not trying to convince you, they’re trying to convince themselves. I unironically posted and commented on MGTOW2 up until several months ago, then I started getting fed up and left.

Now I am as far-left as you can be, I just care about supporting fellow brothers, as I do care about supporting all other comrades, regardless of their “brother” status. I’ve never posted on this sub, but it doesn’t seem like it would be banned.

They have much better reason to ban that than r/misandry or this sub if that does happen, which I doubt.

1: This sub is tiny and most likely under most people's radar.

2: This sub is in no way even comparable to r/MGTOW It was full of men supposedly "going their own way" without women while spending all their time bitching about hating women and perpetuating gross stereotypes.

So fuck that sub. Reddit is better off without it.

I'm divided on this one. On the one hand MGTOW was horribly misogynist so i can't in good conscious see a benefit to it's continued existence. But MGTOW2 I felt had the potential to be more moderate. They had LGBTQ voices and a few left-leaning voices over there. I even posted once to get a feel for them and some seemed reasonable. I believe the mods legitimately tried to keep that sub clean but they let one too many horrible comments slip through the cracks.

I have personally seen many debates between commenters and MGTOW calling out other MGTOW on their sexism.

I think what ultimately took down MGTOW2 was the main MGTOW sub. From my understanding, they were getting so extreme that people got banned for even the slightest deviation from their quasi-religious ideology. Those ppl migrated over to MGTOW2 and the ratio of misogynists to non-misogynist comments/posts got too high for them to police.

My guess is that toward the end at least 50% of the ppl on MGTOW2 were rejects from the original.

What's troubling is that those groups invariably end up on the most pro-free speech platforms and as a result end up pulling in even more toxic elements from the White nationalist and homophobia crowds.

So my questioning of MGTOW2 ban is more one of pragmatism. Could the more reasonable elements have helped de-radicalize high risk members? I can't say but at least they would have been contained in a location where we could keep track of where their ideology was going. Now things seem uncertain AF.

My sense is that the extremist right-wingers are going to completely take that movement over now because the moderating voices aren't going to survive their movement to the darker parts of the web.

BTW: In no way is this meant to defend them. If it were up to me, the main mgtow sub would have been gone a while ago and MGTOW2 would have been warned.

I think that getting rid of the original sub early enough, could've allowed the other be healthier. But this is just conjecture. Admittedly, I haven't browsed either in the past few months as my stomach can only take so much. So I could be completely off on this. Feel free to correct me if that's the case.

Haha yeah. MGTOW was pretty bad. The problem is that any and all Male support groups inevitably get banned. I mean, now it's pretty much either MensRights, this one or MensLib. The former can be sexist at times, the middle is a great but small community, however the latter is a womens issues sub under the guise of a mens support group. I can't imagine the damage it has done to Male victims that need proper support.
