My wife offered to get a hysterectomy. (screw that.. that is surgery and I care about her) the snip was a 10 minute awkward conversation with a guy who had my nuts in his hand and outpatient.

She loves it and it did work to increase her frequency due to a less stress about getting pregnant with our 4th. She was religious with the pill and it worked for 30 years but I wanted her off hormones. Natural is better.

I have 3 kids got it done 6 (No wait.. that was a YEAR AGO as i sit back proofing this post) months ago.. my balls hurt for 2 months. I was scared thinking I had epididimitis or whatever. Everything is fine now. i got my highschool microscope out, my wife made the slides and we watched them disappear.. it took 4 ejaculations for them to be gone. not the 25 they say.

yeah we got sciencey on it and told her to wear a lab coat, latex gloves etc and put her hair up in a pony tail when she gave me my "manual procedures" it was funny as hell. (and pretty sexy too) Use this too.. because it would be funny to hear someone else did this fun little role play thing too.

Everything is fine now.. my wife loves it. So yes to she likes it more)

did my testosterone decrease? Ive been really observant of that.. and I heard everyone say it doesnt and i have no reason to believe it has at all decreased. I was looking hard (lol) for signs of it and saw no decrease.

im 45 and if my 25+ year marriage doesnt work out (lol - yea right) I am now free to frolic. :)

Worst decision of my life. In my case, my wife basically ordered me to get one after the last kid. I dutifully complied, not realizing it was a massive shit test. Sex life dropped by at least 50% IMMEDIATELY after I got snipped. Didn't come back to the pre-snip levels until I discovered TRP years later.

If you get it, wait a while so it doesn't look like you're doing it because she told you to.

I got mine over 10 years ago, but I still remember the low hum of fear from shooting live rounds. The peace of mind is the most amazing part. Obviously, this would only apply if you absolutely, positively do not want more kids.

Some men have objections where I do not. It's a very personal thing to consider allowing a masked stranger to attack your scrotum with a knife, much less eliminating the possibility of future progeny, so don't let yourself be pressured into it. It's okay to say it's not for you, and you can always put the decision off into the future.

That said, you aren't "cutting your balls off", so to speak. After the recovery, which takes about a week, there was no change in me physically and everything works the same.

The "surgery" was an absolute breeze, I think it was less than 5 minutes. Mostly sat around the day after with only very minor achy pain. Next day was feeling 90% normal. 100% after that.

Sex wise I can't tell the difference and neither can she. Feeling and "output" are exactly the same.

There is a small down side: in your own mind you know you're firing blanks.
Freedom from birth control is addictive.
It's another small curb on her cheating on me: she'd have to make him wear a condom.

Several threads on this in the past 6 months.

Variable opinions on how it might affect SMV. Don't get a forehead tattoo that says "snipped" and you should be fine.

No effect on testosterone in thousands of men who have had it done.

Effectiveness is better than tubal ligation, significant complications are much more rare.

Get it done by someone who does it a lot, preferably a urologist rather than a GP. Rates of pain and other problems are lower with experienced surgeons.

I think there's good reason we say "never let her control the birth [control]". As primary resource provider (if you are) you have to weigh that as part of the decision. It's yours to make. I've said it before, but it bears repeating. I'd have an appointment the day after my divorce was finalized to get a vasectomy.

Athol is a nurse, so he has some medical cred, but I think the science shows that hormone levels and all the good things he talks about via fluid bonding come from the actual semen, not the sperm. I'll let one of our Docs weigh in on that.

In my social circle, every wife whose husband has undergone the procedure talks smugly about it. I could speculate why, but I honestly have no frame of reference, and I wouldn't expect an honest answer from them if I asked. So there's that.

Athol Kay has said that some women become disgusted when their man has a vasectomy. They don't know beforehand, it's just some subconscious thing that kicks in when their man can no longer father new children. So there's that.

I had the procedure done a few years ago. My wife had been asking me intermittently to do it, but I refused. To this day she thinks I did it because I found out that hormonal birth control can suppress a woman's sex drive and that, if I had a vasectomy, I might be able to get more sex from her.

I haven't bothered to set her straight: we came close to divorce and I had concluded that, if I were to be single again, I didn't want to be trapped by an "oopsie, I forgot to take my pill" situation.

It's a beautiful thing. Took 75 minutes from leaving my house until I was back home from the docs office. No more creams, pills, condoms. Was sore for a week or two.

Highly recommended if you're done making kids.

There's a wide range of responses here in terms of the after-effects. That leads me to believe there me other causes of the testosterone drop comments.

In my case (early 50's, snipped at 32, not one regret), there has been no noticeable change in my sex drive or testosterone levels. I think it may be the single best thing I've done.

My lady (LTR heading towards marriage) is in her early 40's and she's still amazed that I'm as old as I am because my drive is so high. Case in point, I busted two nuts last night. This doesn't happen very often....I happened to be in rare form last night. I say this not to brag, but to say that there is sex (and some damn good sex) after a vasectomy.

Just follow the RP mantras of lifting, eating right, and getting sufficient rest and you'll be fine...

Most insightful take on vasectomy that I have seen was from a female commenter on a quasi manosphere site. She said she loved it because now that she had divorced her husband, she knew that the two children she had with him would be the exclusive beneficiaries of his provisioning capacity for the rest of his life. He would never have more kids that would share in his money.

I did it after two kids. I got an Rx for Valium that I took prior. Was a great decision. I even milked that shit for 2 days after. 'baby, can you get me another beer, I'm sore...' :) Some days I wish I had done it straight outta high school.

Is it possible that bringing this up could be a power-play on her part? I don't think it is, but I am wondering if I have thought through all the angles. Her bringing up, kinda out-of-the-blue makes me think there might be something else a bit more nefarious at work.

Dunno. It was entirely my idea.

I got the snip myself out of personal choice about 10 years ago. We had 3 kids already and I didn't want any more. One of the few alpha things I did back then. Wife wasn't against it exactly but wasn't madly in favor of it either as I think she secretly wanted a 4th kid.

Made no difference whatsoever to drive, testosterone or sex. One of the best things I ever did.

Not sure if that has anything to do with getting snipped but wife doesn't complain lol. No birth control no worries no more kids. I can't think of any downside. I would do it again. There's no knife by the way it's more like a crochet needle.

best decision of my life. no drops in either area, and her drive is the same. do it on a weekend she is away (make her take the kids) and don't mention it to her. its your body, do with it as you see fit, make her understand that the decision is yours and yours alone. (also, by not telling her, if she just happens to get prego later, it would be a nice solid surprise for her lol)

There are posts here and on Red Pill that make the argument that your sperm gives her testosterone and helps her bond to you (and desire you). Consider that.

I can go into greater depth on any point you would like. I highly advise my friends NOT to get snipped.

My wife is currently pregnant with our 2nd child. We tried NFP during the period between pregnancies and I was actually pretty good with it but she hated it. She made the point that she was denied sex when she wanted it most (ovulation) but doesn't consider using condoms during that period to be worth the potential risk of more kids (we are both in our late 30's, she will be 40 in January). We both agree no more kids (the 2nd kid was intentional).

I would appear to be a prime candidate for vasectomy but after a lot of careful consideration I find I am resistant to it. After really exploring my resistance I have determined that it is twofold; First and foremost I am opposed to all forms of birth control and most especially those that involve mutilating the body. Secondly, I have to consider the potential for a divorce that would deprive me of access to my children at which point I would likely become very open to having additional children with a younger woman.

The likelihood of us getting divorced appears to be almost zero but it doesn't change the subconscious resistance to removing my options for good.

Then, I read MMSLP and there I learned how my semen, when placed in my wife's body, actually encourages a higher libido and possibly stronger pair bonding in her. I have since questioned if getting snipped might impair this function.

For now I am at an impasse and she is looking into post partum tubal ligation. thus, I am keenly interested in any additional context or insight surrounding this topic.

All that said, I do not see the issue as being anything about power in an otherwise healthy and functional marriage, especially in the 40's age range where having more kids can be particularly problematic.

I must mention this to you and this is my reason for not getting it myself.

It isn't 100% confirmed but the story hits close to home. Vasectomies have had an odd correlation to early onset dementia and Alzheimer's. Google this to find the results and take it or leave it. I felt compelled to write this to you because my father had the ol' snip snip at a young age and suffered for 10 years with early dementia. So I'm personally convinced there is a link between the two.

The ability of a man to father children well into old age is a part of what makes us men. The other part is the self discipline that makes procreation only happen at a time, place, and woman of your choosing. We are men, not livestock, not pet cats or dogs that many women would like us to be. Also, you may feel strongly right now that this is what you want, but will you still feel that way in 5 years.. 10 years? Vasectomies are very hard to reverse, once done. EDIT: I've seen various articles that suggest up to half of men who get snipped later seek to have them reversed, but only about 5% actually can be reversed. IDK, worth looking into? My 1.999 cents.

I was strongly considering getting a vasectomy, as were several of my married friends (we all have at least 2 kids...). Then one of my unmarried friends said something like, "We're men. Our dicks work and we knock chicks up. No one is touching my dick." - I laughed and told him he didn't know what he was talking about because he didn't have any kids.

But darn it, every time I had sex with my wife after that I thought about what he said and was glad I was an intact man who could get my wife pregnant if I wanted to. And I never had that vasectomy.

I've been wondering about this. My wife is on the pill and does not want any children of her own, I have 2 from a previous marriage. For added insurance I just pull out and she finishes me off with her mouth every time. Never been a big deal since she swallows but I would like to not have to pull out.
