This argument is majorly used by older females who can’t find a man, or have unattainable standards and hence nobody wants to be with her. Also note that this is the same type of woman who wont mind dating a young man and be a hot cougar if she gets an opportunity.

When men date younger, its seen as taking advantage of them, no matter what

Even when its rape (dating a guy under 16) women are still seen as the victim

Once women have left school or college, they tend to be attracted to men with some status, authority and (especially) money. I think there’s a number of influences but here’s a big one that also relates to other relationship standards we see:

Society wants men to provide for women, both collectively and individually.

Marriage is basically a one sided contract where a man agrees to commit to provide for a woman forever. If that contract is broken, even by her, there will be a huge buy out. Women being the gate keepers of sex leverages men to enter this biased marriage agreement. (But note women can stop providing sex and other things they agreed to with no penalty. If a man refuses to stop paying for his wife, it’s financial abuse.).

This is one reason prostitution is frowned upon. Prostitution decreases women’s ability to use sex to leverage men into marriage.

Men dating notably younger women leaves more older women unprovided for. (Though the younger women would eventually find someone. They’re at their prime). Perhaps more importantly, if men can can continually date a string of younger women, it decreases the incentive to commit to a single woman. (And commit to provide for her). I’ve read many sugar daddies say that providing generously for a young woman is still notably less expensive than marriage and divorce. Again however, society doesn’t want men to provide for women for a few years, it wants a life long commitment of providing.

There are certainly other issues such as men simply being stereotyped as perpetrators and women innocent victims in society, (an attitude that’s used to justify advantages for women), but I think the above I mentioned is a phenomenon most people know to be true but haven’t really thought through all the implications.

And I agree with you regarding the maturity. Many states are saying children as young as puberty have the maturity to decide to have permanent sex changing procedures performed on them. It’s ridiculous to then claim a legal adult doesn’t have the maturity to decide whom she should or shouldn’t date.

Most people in general are against age gap relationships, even between consenting adults.

Look at the people who are complaining. In general its:

Older men, who cant attract younger women and are jealous.
Younger men, who are jealous because the older men snack their women.
Older women, who are jealous about the young 25 yo who snack their men.

All in all its about competition. Young men hate to compete with 30+ year old men with good career/financials. Older women hate to compete with a young beautiful 25yo.

So they gaslight people to think "its wrong".

Women get less attractive as they get older losing attention from males as a result. In a desperate attempt to at least keep some attention they shame older men as a means to dissuade them from pursuing younger women, while unironically hitting on younger men at the same time.

I can’t tell you how many times older women have flirted with or asked me for sex at a bar simply because I’m seen as a guy that’ll give them some sort of attention aka sexual.

My sister and her husband are ten years apart, my parents nine, and my aunt is ten years older then her husband. Your adults. Huge age gaps like 40 years can seem wrong for most people. Though even with that some are good with it. In the end I would say just ignore it. However you feel about it people will bash you for having a different opinion anyway 🤷🏼‍♀️

I don't like that this sub is often "woman bad, man victim". In many cases it's true, in many other - it isn't.

Age gap relationships can only work if she's with a guy that is physically strong. That kind of couple will be laughed at, humiliated at social places and they won't be able to do anything social if they live in a small town that isn't highly liberal, and even then there'll be challenges.

Men have been with younger women ALL the time. Average relationship and marriage have a male that is at least a few years older. On average, scrawny guys will be more or less ok if they're with scrawny girls and if he makes the impression of willing to protect her. It's pretty much the only time I see scrawny guys outside of gay relationships.

I can guarantee you that if you talk to average women, they'll tell you that they are looking for a "mature independent older guy".

A lot of this "nobody wants to date me" comes from guys that just need to work on their self-confidence. Women aren't all that picky if you satisfy three things: a) strong enough to go in public without fear (very important for a woman) or clever enough to fake it. You don't see "queens" with scrawny guys, do you? b) works enough to provide for her whenever she decides to quit to have a baby; c) can have an average conversation and isn't seen as a "looser" with any mental or physical problems. These are the three main things.

Who Gives a Monkey 🐵 about “their” approval as long as it’s Legal per location ? Everything else is (sorry) just current social mores as opposed to yesterdays or tomorrows or a different regime’s.

I'm 29, and I am hugely different from when I was 27. I can't even be interested in anyone younger than 25. So yeah, I can relate to the age gape issue. If both parties love each other and it's legal then live and let live. I personally can't see why a guy/woman in their 30s+ would be romantically interested in a <25 year old.

If I'm single and some old fuck is in my dating pool then you best bet I'm going to try and push him out. I'm better than him and he needs to learn his place.

If I'm single and some old woman wants to fuck me without risk of getting pregnant because she's old and used up then I'm down.

It's seen as a double standard because of the above examples. These are biological responses as men are competitive and want to remove external threats. In a society where money is a big aphrodisiac, the older men have an advantage and it makes it harder for the younger men. This used to be less of an issue because it would be based on strength and you could just beat the old man out of the dating pool.

Age gaps are fine but there’s a line to be drawn and it applies to both men and women. It’s okay for a man to be with a woman who is around 7 or 8 years younger than him but the line has to be drawn when a man is with a woman and is old enough be her father. The same applies to women. There’s a line to be drawn. A woman in a relationship with a man shouldn’t be old enough to be his mother.
