I find it interesting how as soon as a man starts living for himself and isn't benefitting others he is shamed and ridiculed as the article says its meant as a verbal shaming tactic.

Good for them. I would still make sure to become wealthy though as it helps to do most of what you want in life. Guys’ biggest expenditures are usually tied to romance and sex so you will definitely become rich if you chose to invest that money well instead

The description on Wikipedia does remind me of MGTOW, although it makes it seem like these men are just feminine versions of men, almost shaming them for not being "traditionally masculine" in their pursuit of status and women?

I do see myself in a fair bit of that description, I've more or less given up on women in a relationship sense, I just haven't had any luck with ones I find attractive, and the ones that appear interested in me such as checking me out and being overly friendly etc, are either extremely overweight and/or very ugly. Alternatively they've had their "hoe phase" - including children with multiple men - and now need a stepdaddy to pay for her.

In fact, it's been a decade since my last physical contact with another woman that wasn't a basic hug or similar from my sister or coworker, nothing sexual about it. I am much more content with doing my work (also studying IT for better opportunities) and coming home, working out a bit, watching movies, playing games, playing guitar, and just living a peaceful life. Any women who comes into my life needs to add to my peace and existence in general - or at the very least not detract from it - yet this is apparently hard for them to do. There needs to be drama or something happening at all times, else they look for something someplace else, why bother? I've seen this with many friends and family, and internet show these examples to the entire world too, it's almost universally true.

This is actually the perfect term that I identify as. I don't like the idea of dating, and even though I really do want to get married, I want it on my own terms and won't ask out anyone or be very strong in pursuing a relationship if I have to compete or "prove my worth" in any way, shape, or form.

If the right person exists (this is unlikely, but not impossible) I think part of it would be the fact that to them I'm not an "option" and they genuinely want/desire me without any reservations. So unless that happens, I'm not going to do anything.

That doesn't necessarily mean I'll be very happy alone, but I can definitely deal with it and the feeling of desperation isn't there because I don't like the idea of "settling" or being with someone I myself don't have a genuine desire for.

Actually herbivore men are a perfect example of men who are not at all "toxic masculine" not pursuing "traditional gender roles", something right from the feminist utopia book. And yet they are considered problem, because women can't find partners while still think they are entitled to relationships, marriage and sex.

It sounds like similar reasoning to MGTOW.

I think it's a great way to protest. It's non-confrontational and disarms almost all male shaming tactics. It might turn the tables to the point where a dialog can start again.

Plus, men might get fora where they can interact positively with others again, without being shamed. Which might be great for resistance overall.

I fit the definition of a herbivore man quite nicely. The number of people I've met who cannot believe I'm not interested in romance or sex is astounding. Some have even thought I'm mentally deranged.

But somehow the 4B movement is considered empowering and brave despite the essence being identical to herbivore men.

The idea of "herbivor men" is basically just a product of the way society shames men for failing to secure the romantic interest/investment of women, instead of holding women accountable for their entitlements, and the reason why you have "herbivor men" in the first place is typically a failing in society to address most of the toxic/sexist ideals that women expect of men and hypergamy.

Generally speaking, women are not kind to kind men, do not reward greater levels investment from men, do not create safe spaces for men to be themselves and do not value men who take on more supportive roles. Even so called "alpha women" or "girl bosses" will still scoff and gag at the idea of finding a partner that would support their ventures, instead of just chasing men with greater levels of success/status.

Most women still hate the idea of having to initiate with men or even just being able to keep an open mind or communicate effectively. Concepts like "toxic femininity" or "fragile female egos" can be very real problems, both on a micro and macro scale, they are simply not being addressed because all of that burden to accommodate women is pushed back on men.

A pregnant woman..? Not so much. During our human origins, she needed folic acid and Vitamin B12 from meat, or that pregnancy was doomed.

Men were born and bred to bring home the bacon, so to speak. And to protect the weaker members of the tribe. The best hunters, the alpha-males of the day, exchanged meat for sex. The causal relationship between sex and offspring wouldn't even have been suspected. It wasn't in a woman's interest to become emotionally attached to any particular man, as he may never return from the next hunting trip. She simply showers her 'affections' on whoever has brought the most meat. Only after it was realised that sex leads to kids would (eventually) monogamy be settled on as a means of some form of social stability

Going herbivore (=MGTOW) in the modern world not only frees us from the peonage of providing for others in exchange for a shoddy sexual reward, but releases men from all obligations towards women. If they're hell-bent on competing with us, determined not to have kids or even attempting to be faithful, we owe them NOTHING, nothing at all.

Last time I checked this term there was different definition. There are some inaccuracies in definition.

I do not want to play by their rules and be a gofer for the aging living fossils and their favorite spoiled rotten "princess" daughters. Their game is rigged and if you play, you lose. Sounds close to the definition, but there is more.

I do however want to overthrow their system, pry out power, wealth and status from their cold dead hands and then role as I see fit. That is not so "herbivore".

I can't speak for other men, but I'm 34 and have a son (I was young and naive - we separated not long after being engaged)

I've been single for over 5 years and I chose to focus on personal development and obtaining education for the long-term purpose of financial independence and to develop self-reliance.

I'm not opposed to dating, but I have goals to reach first before I can have someone else in my life.

That said, my situation is not typical. I'm a survivor of CSA and child opioid addiction, so take my input as a grain of salt

I can understand it. I was like that for some time too, but getting out there and meeting people can be pretty fun too, so I did that in limited quantities. If you're a more analytical type it can be fun to try to understand other people and how they work.

This is very good evidence that feminists not only attack MGTOWs for things that are appropriate, but also (or mainly) for being men who have the “audacity” to take control of their own sexuality.
