As someone who has been dealing with it since I was in middle school, it really bothers me just just how harsh and apathetic society seems to be towards depressed men. You're constantly told how it's all your fault and how you're just making excuses. You can't even vent online without someone chiming in and insulting you.

Meanwhile, most women actually have a solid support system. They're allowed to be unhappy, they're allowed to be insecure, they're allowed to lack confidence, etc. A man who is depressed is doing something wrong and needs to change, while a woman who is depressed is a victim of circumstance who people feel sorry for. Since when have people ever felt sorry for men? Nobody cares about us.

When a woman commits suicide, it makes national headlines. But when thousands of men commit suicide over the years, nobody bats an eye. To quote a favorite movie of mine, "If it were me dying on the sidewalk, you'd walk right over me!"

I am tired of being seen as disposable, I am tired of my issues being treated like they don't matter or aren't real, I am tired of labels such as "entitled" or "fragile" being assigned to me just because I am not satisfied with my so-called "male privilege"

It's not just depression, either. Most men who suffer from anxiety, PTSD, and other mental issues receive zero support or empathy from society.
