[–][deleted] 380 points381 points382 points 6 years ago (35 children) | Copy Link
No, they're definitely aware. Its just a power grab at this point. If you think you have it tough, say a prayer for all the young boys in school now who have to put up with being told theyre not worth as much as girls day in day out.

Reminds of a post on r/AmItheAsshole the other day. In the post OP was traveling to France to visit family and his girlfriend invited herself along at OP's expense. She also wanted to go to a Michelin starred restaurant (OP's treat) and when they handed out the menus she was insulted her menu didn't have prices. She wanted her boyfriend to call out the staff on this 'sexist tradition' and said if he refused she would leave (she didn't speak French but OP was fluent). He, not wanting to cause a scene, called her bluff. Most people in the sub sided with the girlfriend and called him sexist and 'the asshole'. If equality was on the menu, why didn't she behave like an equal empowered human being and do it herself? Almost all Michelin starred restaurants in Paris have English speaking staff or she could have been resourceful enough to ask her boyfriend or look on her phone to translate the phrase "Can I have a menu with prices?" but no, she sits back and expects the man to do it for her. Not one of the people who accused OP of being sexist noticed the hypocrisy or thought her using her boyfriend for a free trip to Paris and an expensive meal was sexist.

Self awareness is rare with these people. They werent taught to be decent human beings. They were spoiled all through life.
Which is the biggest common factor i see in people with those mindsets. They all come from privileged, spoiled lives.

Checked out that post, and it's rather ironic that the consensus is that the practice is discriminatory against the woman; presuming that the man is paying. I can only assume she wanted to know the prices to pick the most expensive stuff.

[–]Tailtappin 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, I replied to that one. That sub is full of "average Western women" aka Karens. I asked how it could possibly be a case of misogyny given that they were expecting the man to pay. I got downvoted to hell, of course but no good answers to the question.
[–]Greg_W_Allan 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Back in my middle school you could see the wall before it curved into the girls bathroom and it was painted light blue with motivational quotes but when you walk in the boys bathroom is was white walls with nothing written on the walls. In Highschool I decided to change this so I took a sharpie and wrote a motivational quote saying whoever is reading matters and we’re here for them, it hasn’t been taken down and I plan to keep it that way.
Edit: spelling fixes

It's almost like to the decades of treating boys replaceable in common society made them act out as adults because they weren't properly raised & had a ton of awful societal rules put upon them that made them bitter & toxic.
Men AREN'T the enemy, Old Society is, & always has been.
I'm just hoping my female peers of my Generation don't listen to these specifically insane Millennial women.

Not explicitly, but implicitly. Boys are told they arent worth as much when it comes to scholarships because most scholarships, if not all of them, prioritize giving them to girls. What message does that send? it tells boys theyre not worth investing in.

I very much doubt many boys are being told they are worth less.
That's because majority of it is subtle and very hard to spot. Additionally, we're constantly being forced to believe that boys issues cannot compare to girls issues and that the world is made for boys so they'll be fine. Especially white boys.
People like the ones who made the text in the picture are very much extremists.
And how many times have contemporary media content depicted violence against men by women as empowering and funny?
What about those shirts with condescending messages of uplift for girls stating that THEY will rule the world while boys only got a "Boys are stupid, throw rocks at them" in return once upon a time?
Special scholarships, affirmative action, and clubs geared towards girls only while the other way around is protested against and shut down.
Do you even know what it's like to be a boy nowadays surrounded by those messages with no form of equivilant self-esteem boosters?
I very much doubt it.

I Eman I open doors and let almost everyone no matter what gender go before me because I don't see gender differently other than like body structure and shit like that. And not sticking up for the post. But almost all my life have been treated that way by men. Lol
[–]12yuGemoS 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I think it's mostly from being polite and taught to treat women like that, not because of thinking women are less capable of things, even if that is some of the historical background. I also usually do better with women I date when I open doors and do things like that too, and I imagine since I live in a fairly progressive area, that's true pretty broadly, so that's also a reward in that context. I don't know a guy who would think, unless the situation really called for it like helping someone move or someone struggling carry things, that they should do these things because they actively think women are weaker. The thought behind it, if it isn't so ingrained as to be automatic, is more about making the person's life easier at your own expense to show deference. It has as much to do with gynocentrism, to use MRA-speak, as it does with women's physical constitution across different historical periods imo.

they want to be more equal than us and it bothers me
[–]ironflag200 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
From day to day I start to hate the word equality. Equality means you treat everyone same. And the feminists who want equality will be the first to complain when you start to give girls and boys the same grades in phys ed again. Sure they want equality but they don’t want to run 20 rounds on 10 mins. I’m just saying that men and women just aren’t exactly same which is the perfect nature of our world. I just want that no one gets treated unfair, but that is definitely not archived by equality, because equality just isn’t fair. Because we are INDIVIDUALS, it comes from divide and means that there is tons of individuals who differentiate from each other.

We treat women EQUAL NOW, We dont pay for anything, we dont even have to hold a door open for them anymore. Its a great time to be male.

Men have the rest of the year. How is that equal?
[–]degenerate661 9 points10 points11 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That doesnt make sense. What do they have?
[–]Minnesotan-Gaming 7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Men have one day of the year and barely anyone acknowledges it. Hell, even as a man I didn’t know international men’s day was a thing until I was told by this subreddit
[–]Auntie_Hero[S] 11 points12 points13 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Men have WHAT the rest of the year? Suicide? Workplace deaths? Homelessness? Forced conscription? What the fuck do you think men "have the rest of the year"?

Do you know why women and children are evacuated first? So men can deal with emergency in a quiet environment
