I saw a tweet the other night that said “when men say female it sounds like a slur”. Essentially, the argument here is that it strips them of their power.

Like ok, then you may not say “men” because in every way you say it, it is used in a way to either call out or belittle an entire gender rather than the subset you are actually talking about.

What does it mean to be called Wifey? The term “wifey” means a girl who is pretty much a guy's top girl. It's similar to calling someone “boo” or girlfriend and if a guy calls you wifey and he says it seriously, it means that you are someone that he respects and cares about deeply.

Bold for emphasis. It feels like they were so close to getting it right but they just had to throw that in there like theirs some way to say wifey as a slur. I mean I can't think of one.

So I can call my husband hubby as a way of affection but him calling me “Wifey” is offensive? How does that work- Oh right I keep forgetting! Whenever a man comes up with an affectionate name like “Wifey” or “Waifu” to describe is partner, it’s seen as an insult to women (Because at this point what isn’t?) meanwhile when a woman does it to her male partner, it’s completely fine with no offense because...? Men aren’t as sensitive as the women? Because that’s what I get from stuff like this?

Although this is a good post, the title does not say enough about its subject. This forces people to click and read before they can decide whether they are interested. It also makes searching impossible.

If everyone did this, the subreddit would become unusable. Moreover, it means that your post will fail to reach some readers because they won't know what it's about.

So please don't do it in future. Take the time to describe your link, and save the time of hundreds of other people.

When making a title, it's best to assume the reader doesn't know what you're talking about - but don't go overboard with every detail. Then check if there are any words you can cut out without losing any important information.

It's the first time in my life when I heard wifey is offensive.

That was 100% written by some butthurt dumb woman who feels a pseudo condescending tone when hearing the word being pronounced. Holy fuck this is stupid.

I saw the word being so widely used and NOT ONCE was it offensive or distantly offensive. This is 100% the hand of someone who just likes victimizing as much as physically possible. And that is fucking stupid and fucking sad.

Can we stop pretending that absolutely everything needs to be equal? Wifey isnt an offensive term imo but for instance, calling a woman a cunt is more offensive in the states then a man a dick. That's fine. Just like a white person being called a cracker isnt as offensive as calling a black person the N word. Not everything needs to completely equal. That's how you end up with women in jobs men are more qualified for usually and vice versa

It’s kinda like that thing where you call your dog “my boy” but “ my man” would be awkward.

I feel like if I said “that’s my wifey over there!” I’d sound like an idiot.

But if women say “oh that’s my hubby over there”

It sort of just sounds natural for them.

I've always seen that word as a term of endearment, not only towards wives but also long term or serious girlfriends. Never have I met anyone who was offended by the term, wifey. It's a label that anyone who was called it embraced.

Whoever feels offended by that term must be a woman that has rarely been in an involved enough relationship to have been thought of affectionately in any terms.

I'm not a native English speaker but in my experience "hubby" is most often used as a synonym for "cuck" while "wifey" is a kind diminutive.

I don't know if wifey is offensive (English is my third language), but in general it's not true. For example, cracker and n****r. You can be lenient towards cracker because it's a weak ass slur.
