Based on number of tryouts, the should only be accepting 2-3 girls for the team if they really want to push for equality, as the boys would probably outperform the women. Even a 5-5 split is so much better than this 6-4 bullshit their pulling. How the duck do they explain that?

As a guy who participated a lot in sports when I was at school, this isnt the first case I have seen when it comes to mixed sports. And let me tell u, the usual result is the team which values inclusivity more than the actual skill of its players loses miserably.

Mixed gender sports just sound dangerous I used to play social leagues that had quotes to make sure it was sufficiently coed but that was but that was to to make sure men and women had an opportunity for to meet potential partners

I don’t understand how the equality vs equality conversation makes sense in gender issues. It’s a good thing to talk about in regards to issues of race or ethnicity, things where there is a generational wealth and cycle of poverty aspect. Gender doesn’t have those things.

What do you say to this?

I say you need to go to the school Principal and ask why the selection is unequal.

This way you will get an answer.

You can pass the answer onto your son and in doing this he will learn that asking questions is necessary and is pro-active rather then just remaining re-active.

He will then be able to / learn to , deal with whatever the answer is.

I'm in my sixties and it is only now, with a loving partner who encourages me, that I ask a lot of questions rather than sit in my shitty stew remaining uninformed and making up all sorts of scenarios in my head... and the result has been high blood pressure.

Be a good role model for your son.

If you do explain this to your son, try not to make him bitter about it. Explain how this is a backlash against the past, and that he, as a man, is incredibly valuable to the world. That men built everything around him and he should be proud to be a man. Then sue the #@!$ of of the school, if you can. Get other boys parents involved.

Tell him that he will always have an outlet to talk to you. The world is unfair to everyone in every gender. Make sure that he has the resources to bring his voice forward, but that does not mean that he is entitled to be heard.

Best thing he can do in my opinion is what is mentioned above and try to move on. As a kid you don't want him frustrated at silly politics

I mean, it's just the wrong sport. That how many spots there were and it's slanted away from us. I wrestled, and it hard to make first team, but the girls had a girls team. So few women tried, they were all on it, no cuts.

If your son tried out for cheerleading it'd be the exact opposite. The only guy; he's on the team guaranteed with no experience while the girls struggle and get cut.
