That famous psychology article about lonely men was essentially encouraging men to date down even more, marry less attractive women and support women even more.

We similarly see the fat glorification/body acceptance movement which is primarily about women. We don’t see a push for obese male models for example.

This is linked very much to the idea men are supposed to be providers and protectors and not get anything in return. This idea goes beyond just dating, and impacts social expectations of men as well as policies disadvantaging men.

Many of the factors that play into social dating dynamics also impact men’s rights and how society treats men differently than women.

To a degree, yes. You’re either gay, called an incel, or berated if you have standards as a man. And they act like there is some ulterior motive for when an average guy says he doesn’t find a particular girl attractive. There isn’t (in most cases). He just doesn’t think you’re pretty. And that’s okay.

I dunno and don’t care. As a Christian trying my best to live a life as godly as possible I vehemently refuse to discriminate against men and women by calling them ugly or beautiful, mid or hot etc. But looking at the society and media from an analytical point of view, there’s definitely a pressure on men from a certain group to accept whatever they personally deem to be attractive, and to reject whatever they find ugly or inconvenient. You can say the same about the 250 gender identities and sexual orientation too.

Women are incapable of being accountable for anything. So, instead of getting on a diet or shaving their pitts, or having better hygiene or whatever, society says “women can look like anything and be a queen”.

you're not crazy. incel as a term was used to describe women in particular, not men.

all the complaints of incel actually stem from women, not men, and men later adopted them. they originate in concerns about unrealistic beauty standards and fetishization of the youth.

there are real movements to try and change that, to broaden the standards of beauty, nomralize more realistic standards of attractiveness, and so forth.

imho this is not a terrible thing, should just be applied across the board, men, queers and women, not just women.

Yes but it only applies average men they don't expect top 10% men to find ugly women attractive in fact even women will ridicule attractive men who date unnatractive women..but the average men women don't want are expected to sit down shut up and take whatever scraps they can get funny thing is most women thing they have a higher smv than most men..

So a 5 man isn't even expected to get a 5 woman because 5 women think they're a 7.

They have been trying to change the beauty standard for over ten to fifteen years. How is that working for them? It hasn't changed. The media shows what the people want to see. Not the other way around. Whatever catches attention is worth showing in media. Whatever doesn't, doesn't bring in views. It would be suicide from a economic standpoint.
