This does not reflect my experience in woman's studies at all. I grew up with a feminist mother (whose teachings I began discounting fairly early thankfully), and I refused to believe that an institution like a university could spew such bigotry and foolishness.

So, I enrolled in a single woman's studies course as an elective to my main program because I wanted to know the truth about it, rather than my mother's bitter view on the matter.

As it turns out, woman's studies was just as bad as my mother made it out to be. There is a total lack of scholarship that I didn't encounter in any other course. Reading the personal stories of abused women was considered "research," and anything more reliable would be attacked and discounted if it was inconsistent with the "feelings" of the prof or female students.

In one case we were discussing how the local fire department had no women, and I remarked that it was because none of them had met the physical requirements, likely because men are generally stronger than women. I did this in the online component of the course, so I also posted a couple studies discussing the different makeups of our bodies. I don't think most people would dispute this fact.

The response was swift and severe, even the prof disputed those studies because the idea that women were inferior to men in any category was unacceptable. I knew at that point that it was all BS. Meanwhile they have no problem saying that women are better nurturers, or better at multitasking, but it's a major faux pas to say anything that is the vice versa.

The question for the final project was a question about how we are brought up affects out expressed gender (I.e. nature vs nurture). I wrote a well researched paper that quoted several studies, but I had to redo it because it didn't have enough "feelings and personal anecdotes." It blew my mind that a university department who claims to know the facts was basing it's curriculum on feelings and anecdotes.

The irony of attacking feminists by invoking a piece of legislation whose existence is largely down to the energy and commitment of feminist campaigners scarcely needs pointing out.

Let's work this out.

Irony = Happening or occurring in the opposite way of its intended purpose or what is expected.

For this to be ironic, the legislation being talked about would have to be NOT intended to "attack" feminists, or rather, petition for equal protection under the law. Therefore we have a few conclusions we could draw from that logical relation.

1) it was specifically created to attack men or MRAs.

2) it was specifically created to protect women and feminists.

3) it was created to grant special privileges to women and feminists.

If you're going to start a class called gender studies, it should have a neutral and include both genders equally. The reality of it is, however, gender studies are generally nothing more than a slightly more politically correct relabeling of women's studies; which most definitely presents a biased and unbalanced perspective. Women's studies isn't something that should even exist in the first place; not only does it have absolutely no redeemable value(In what line of work could this even be applied to?) or since it's so hard to justify it in the first place(just like there isn't or shouldn't be such a thing as white studies, black studies, men's studies, etc). Even from personal experience, it's hard to take it seriously when every woman I have known who actually took women's studies in university was about as biased, sexist, privileged and entitled as they come(perhaps even to the point of blind delusion), and still knew absolutely nothing about men's rights or men's issues.

I would love to see a coherent explanation for how physics, computer science, mathematics, electrical engineering, statistics, and biochemistry are "about men".
