Imagine if this was the other way around and they were harvesting eggs from dead women there would be a public outcry

[+]A_British_Villain -46 points-45 points-44 points 3 years ago* (14 children) | Copy Link

Edit: we could equally harvest reproductive material from new born girls as easily as taking sperm from dead men, I'm sure this would be comparatively simple surgery. The moral issue is the same, with the main difference being that girls are not viewed as disposable while men, living or dead, clearly are.

(Girls are born with their eggs. Soooo) -yeah this was misunderstood, I am an mra and have been for quite some time.

[–]GamerGranville 16 points17 points18 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Clarification?

[–]ArmedProfessional 15 points16 points17 points 3 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Men are born with sperm. Sooooo?

[–]RedToiletPoopPain 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Nah, sorry but you're incorrect, they start to produce it 10-12yo when puberty kicks in, thought most people knew this? Sperm don't last that long and can be affected by many factors, just your balls being too warm will kill your sperm count, it's why the Scottish have historically not had problems with their junk getting a nice breeze under that kilt, if they get cold, as you know the scrotum brings them up to the body for a warm cuddle. It's why if you want to try for kids you should wear the loosest fitting clothes around your junk, and not take any really hot baths or showers.

Whereas people born XX have all the eggs they will ever have when they are born, so should protect their ovaries from pollution and radiation (think x-rays, lead plate)

Blew my mind away really that the egg that made my kid was created inside my mother in-law decades ago at the same time as my wife. My contribution of DNA couldn't be older than 3 months.

https://www.plannedparenthood.org/learn/ask-experts/when-do-boys-start-producing-sperm

[–]ArmedProfessional -4 points-3 points-2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I know this. My original comment was quite honestly meant to be a sarcastic trolling comment. I got my laugh out of it.

[–]A_British_Villain 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Um no. Not at all.

Soooo my point is that we are treating dead men as disposable except for their genetic contribution, the argument should be equal for both genders - imagine the outcry if we suggested harvesting eggs from females as soon as they are viable, ie birth. The moral issue is insurmountable, as it should be but isn't for men.

Bottom line: men are disposable and have the rights of a slave class.

[–]MagicianMountain6573 15 points16 points17 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I think u agree with everyone here. U just have terrible communication skills lol

[–]A_British_Villain 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

r confidentlyincorrect.

[–]A_British_Villain 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Still no.

[–]GamerGranville 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Thank you for clarifying, I think the equivalent would be women from age 16 up who die and then have their eggs harvested.

I assume that the sperm harvesting is happening without the original consent of the male. One could argue that if the males had signed their donor card, this would fall under that premise.

[–]A_British_Villain -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

No. Giving an organ I don't need is vastly different to FATHERHOOD.

Besides, I have no heart the jokes on them.

[–]GamerGranville 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If you sign up to be an organ donor, they can take anything and everything.... Not just the bits you say they can.

[–]AlohaChris 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The moral issue is NOT the same. The living have personhood, autonomy, and rights. The dead do not. False equivalence.

[–]Wolfman01a 71 points72 points73 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

No consent. This is rape.

[–]AlohaChris 16 points17 points18 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Reproduction without consent is rape. Consent in these cases is implied from the marriage contract, from a medical ethics standpoint.

[–]Wolfman01a 18 points19 points20 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hold up now. Stop right there. You are using logic.

These fights are won be feelings not facts.

I will beat you by screaming louder.

[–]Gulbahar-00 12 points13 points14 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Marriage is not consent to reproduction. Married women should still have the right to abortion.

[–]Surv1ver 9 points10 points11 points 3 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

And/or a woman should have the right to deny/decline her spouse from using her reproductive organs. And the same logic should apply to men’s right to do the same.

[–]Quick_Advertising101 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They do have that right. Marital rape has been codified into law in pretty much all Western countries last I checked. Actually, most of the world it looks like based on Wikipedia right now: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marital_rape#Legislation_by_country

[–]Gulbahar-00 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Agreed

[–]Quick_Advertising101 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Should a married man have the right to GTFO and not pay for the kid that the wife unilaterally decides to keep? I assume your answer has to be yes because you are on this sub.

Anyone having an abortion for non-medical reasons while married should not be married, in my humble opinion. What is the point of marriage otherwise? I mean there's lots of benefits for women, but for men there's only one: convincing her to have kids with him. The tax advantages don't make up for what men lose in divorces on average.

[–]WeEatBabies 130 points131 points132 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

But how are the feminists going to get child support?

Maybe it's to get an heir and claim heritages, I don't know.

[–]Dirk_94 46 points47 points48 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Cheat Code so you cant get written out of an attractive heritance

[–]ijustdontcare74 41 points42 points43 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I wouldn’t put it past them to file a lawsuit against the late man’s estate. Just when you think you’ve seen the lowest people can stoop, along comes someone new and sets a new low.

[–]want-to-say-this 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And the. Justifying it so casually. Well it is his kid and all.

[–]AwfulUsername123 75 points76 points77 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

If a living man doesn't own his sperm, why would a dead man?

[–]FireByNayture -3 points-2 points-1 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Living men are able to choose who to put their sperm into. If someone is raping you, you need to report it.

[–]The_Bearded_Cyclist 12 points13 points14 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Actually men aren't always able to choose, firstly men lose all rights to their genetic material when it leaves their body, it's why there are cases of women taking disposed condoms and impregnating themselves with it and the men being held financially responsible for the child.

In most western societies rape is only deemed rape when it involves forced penetration (without consent) of the victim. So according to the law men aren't victims of rape, just sexual assault. In some places the law is actually gender specific.

[–]ZaraCzart 70 points71 points72 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Creepy as fuck

[–]RustedN 29 points30 points31 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I would consider this as bad as necrophilia. Unless there is some kind of contract signed by the now dead man to allow it.

[–]crippledhermit 19 points20 points21 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Shame on everyone who does this.

[–]Strigon_7 38 points39 points40 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Wonder if they'll try forcing the estate to pay child support.

[–]NameIs-Already-Taken 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Of course they will try that, and of course the courts will agree.

[–]holyfuckricky 64 points65 points66 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

And when I have sex with a female corpse, I’m called a sicko.

Double standard much?

[–]QtheRainMaker 21 points22 points23 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That’s cold.

[–]SunosUnix 24 points25 points26 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not if you get to it quick enough -

[+]hendrixski -21 points-20 points-19 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm not sure if you're sarcastic or if you have a basement full of dead children. Really hard to tell if we can't hear sarcasm in your voice and there's no /s at the end of your statement.

[–]holyfuckricky 14 points15 points16 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Fully outrageously sarcastically scribed.

As for the children, they’ve been processed into sausage and mince meat. And yes, they were cage free/free run.

[–]Quick_Advertising101 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You must be obtuse or pretending to be for internet points. Bad tactic if that's what you were going for based on the juicy down votes you received.

[–]ABeeBox 58 points59 points60 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Isn't there enough study to suggest that fatherless children is an absolutely abhorrent idea?

[–]AwfulUsername123 44 points45 points46 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

"Think of the children's well-being!" applies when you need to justify forcing a man to pay child support to a woman who conceived by raping him. It doesn't apply with regard to many other policy decisions.

[–]jnex26 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

They can go after his estate maybe ...

[–]AlohaChris 13 points14 points15 points 3 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

They want to collect that social security check for 18 years.

I have first-hand medical experience with post-mortem sperm retrieval. The medical ethics argument goes like this: marriage exists for the purpose of procreation, and the wife is the legal next-of-kin and can do what she likes with the man’s body.

Medical ethics boards typically rule against girlfriends on this because no marriage.

The process is macabre. I’ll tell you if you want but remember you can’t unhear things.

[–]Extension_Ad_439 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Are you able to refuse to do it for wives on ethical grounds?

[–]AlohaChris 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

No. I’m not aware of a compelling ethical counter-argument. Maybe if the man’s other family members could prove he held and expressed deep anti-procreation beliefs.

The man is dead, and when you die you lose “personhood”. This is the same concept that allows families to donate organs & tissues for transplant.

[–]Extension_Ad_439 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How about the statistics on adverse outcomes for children of single mothers? And the increased likelihood of child abuse perpetrated by "mother only" and "mother and non-parent" compared to "father only" and "father and non-parent"?

[–]AndyBrown65 14 points15 points16 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It’s quite condescending and disrespectful.

[–]_SackOfButtholes_ 28 points29 points30 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Well, since feminists hate surrogacy for whatever reason, I'm going to hate this right back on reflex.

[–]hendrixski 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yes, but how would they feel about surrogacy with eggs harvested from deceased women?

[–]_SackOfButtholes_ 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Be careful with that kind of juxtaposition; feminism doesn't like introspection...

[–]ijustdontcare74 12 points13 points14 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is some sick Frankenstein shit.

[–]NeoNotNeo[S] 41 points42 points43 points 3 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Is this another example of commoditizing men as little more than resource and sperm providers?? It’s hard to imagine retrieving eggs from a woman in this fashion.

[+]angryearth 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You have an archive of the article do we don’t have to register?

[–]killcat 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Possibly depends HOW it's used, if it's to gain access to men's assets after their death, then it's a negative.

[–]GoodeBoi 9 points10 points11 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Could be a good way for a couple that wanted kids to have them in the unexpected death of the father. Ofc it should work like the organ donor system

[–]AlohaChris 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That’s usually what the wife says, and is how the discussion starts.

[–]stone5522 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I mean if the dead man gave permission before he died? But what the fuck, even then, so fucking strange...I wouldn't want ANYONE messing with my body like that after I'm dead. Especially in THAT way.

[–]AlohaChris -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It won’t hurt a bit, know why? Because you’ll be feckin’ dead.

[–]hendrixski 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Wait. Is there such a thing as post-mortem egg retrieval?

For surrogacy, eggs are way too expensive. It's out of the price range for most single men who want to become "single fathers by choice". But... being able to harvest eggs postmortem would drastically change this and be a huge win for the reproductive rights of gay and single men.

[–]AlohaChris 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Eggs typically have to be harvested from a forced ovulation cycle. If the woman was brain dead and maintained on artificial support while the hormones were given, it’s possible.

[–]throwawaygoodvibess 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wow…

This officially broke my brain, and destroyed my hope for humanity. This is where we are. What the actual fuck

Like why can’t they see how fucked up that is…

[–]SomeonePleaseKillMe1 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So not only was my dick degloved against my will, I also have to worry about possibly being violated further if I die.

[–]chrisdidwht 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Zazadoozie 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Your_Agenda_Sucks 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Next step: Finding a way to make those fathers pay unwanted child support even though they're dead.

[–]AlohaChris 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That’s what happens. The father’s social security benefits pass to the child, for 18 years. If he had any assets that weren’t part of the couple’s assets for whatever reason, they can be garnished for child support.

[–]Extension_Ad_439 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This could rob social security benefits from his other children, if he has any.

One friend of mine, whose dad was murdered when he was a kid, said that the survivor benefits were first split between the children from his mom, and the child of some fling he had. So half went to my friend and his 2 siblings, who were poor. So he got 1/6th of the benefit. While his half-sister he never met, who lived in Mexico and whose family was rich, got 1/2.

I think that would be a terrible thing to do to a guy's existing children unless it was with the explicit permission of the guy given before he died.
