Should DNA/Paternity testing for assumed fathers be mandatory/compulsory in the USA?

I believe that in case of divorce or separations , before alimony can be even discussed or any legal procedure attempted against a man, DNA test should be mandatory. The result should be legally binding.

At birth, the father should have to option to test . And If the result come back negative, it should not matter at all if he choose to act as a father. In the eyes of the law, nothing should legally bind that man to the kid. If he still want to be a father to that kid and assume the legal consequences, adoption should be offered to him. It should be his choice.

18 years of child support has massive financial and emotional consequences for a man, the law shouldn't just assume that he is the father. It should be proven and not depend at all on what she said...

But i believe women would fight this, because it would force women to be accountable for their actions.

Yes. Not only to protect men from paternity fraud, but to protect the child. Some conditions are genetic, so knowing the real father is important to understanding and dealing with the risks. We do all sorts of tests and inoculations on babies, paternity testing would be easy to include.

it should be manditory in every case. there is no reason this should not be done. will it out cheaters yes . will it break up marages yes but it will also reveal the truth .

haveing it optional creates problems . asking for one is acuseing your gf or wife of cheating. thats going to cause problems if she wasnt (or at least he is the father ) . makeing it manditory takes that issue away

There's really 3 parties involved if you break the situation down for anaylsis, excluding the kid.

Government, woman, man.

Government wants kids to push up their GDP figures through parents spending for the kid, having more wage slaves, people contributing to the pensions so that the old people sitting in their government posts can actually take out their pensions, and to buy properties so that when the time comes they can sell their houses to these people at a profit, and of course children to take care of the elderly when they're old.

The woman is the one who actually produces the kid through pregnancy, and as (usually) emotional beings they're easier to appeal to than men. Their course of action aligns with the government's and hence the government's more likely to want to support them, including enforcing CS/alimony in cases where the woman's wrong to achieve their objective. DNA/paternity testing does not serve in the woman's nor the government's favour.

The man is usually the one suffering in this scenario. To push for men's objectives, men need to "protest" in some manner. I'll put it this way, if men collectively refused to have sex with women for a period of 2-3 years the sharp decline in birth rates will reflect, and governments will then start panicking. The question will then become "What does it take for men to want to have babies" instead of "What does it take for women to want to have babies", at which point men would have the bargaining power to get mandated paternity tests implemented.

So, TL;DR: Yes it should happen. No it's not happening. Not unless all the Chads and Tyrones collectively decide to act in the best interests of the group instead of their own best interests, which I don't expect to happen either.

I do think the father should have the same right to request one as the mother.

I do think that it should be a man’s right to request one if requested to pay child support.

Mandatory? No. I say this because if it becomes mandatory it will end up costing a lot of people a lot of money at a time in their life when they just had a kid and the extra financial burden shouldn't be forced on anyone.

I am also against making genetic testing mandatory because it can be used for genetic profiling and law enforcement in ways that you may not want or like.

It should be the expected default, and it should also be a legal requirement before a man signs a birth certificate.

No, but I think it should be encouraged, and doable without the woman’s consent if possibility of concern, and the mothers consent should be completely irrelevant for postpartum

100% paternity tests should be mandatory nowadays. Sad to say but let’s say if a women refuses..if you have nothing to hide just take the test 😂🤷🏻‍♀️ and this is coming from a woman

If a father wants to not take a paternity test and just accept the child he should be able to do so, then the child can request one when the kid is old enough.

However it should be encouraged to take one to avoid women looking for a free meal, but government shouldnt force more rules than needed between private people.

No, if for no other reason than that *in practice* DNA tests aren't 100% effective as they theoretically ought to be, because the people administrating them aren't (similar to how covid vaccines were 95% effective in clinical trials, but turnout out to be far less so in practice).

This would go doubly for "lowest bidder mass roleout government program" DNA tests. Assuming a failure rate of even 5% (which I think is conservative) would mean you'd cast doubt on as many true fathers as false onces.

(even aside from that though I don't think this a great idea) If a man wants to get a DNA test of his own accord and in his own time though that's a different matter.
