There’s an interesting blind spot most advocates for making movies more woke (for lack of a better term) have.

On one hand, they will mock those who want animated characters to remain their original race and gender by saying things like, “They aren’t even real people! It’s a cartoon! It’s a kid’s movie!” Etc.

Yet, they fail to realize that, unless the movie is a documentary or based on a true story, the live action characters are just as fake as those cartoon characters, only portrayed by real people.

The same concept applies to the plot, characters, and themes of movies. It’s all hand picked by those who wrote the story and directed the movie. So when you say, “This story just happens to be about strong women.” That’s not true. They CHOSE to make a story about strong women.

Now, there’s nothing inherently wrong with this, but they will play it off as though it’s not a deliberate choice. Just own it! You want a movie that sends a certain message. That’s ok, but to insist that those who made the movie are “just telling a story that happens to be diverse/woke/etc.” is simply not true.

They are afraid of the consequences of acknowledging that they would like to influence the world to be more woke through their movies, which is propaganda. If it’s such a noble cause, just own it instead of resisting giving ammo to those who feel differently than you.

Plot is so predictable you could probably have guessed anyway. Maverick trains a young new generation of pilots. The FEMALE pilot turns out to be better than all the male pilots.

Yet another sequel gets made to appeal to the feminists out there instead of giving a crap about the original mostly male fans of the first movie.

Im getting so tired of all movies, tv, books etc being twisted and turned to lamely try to appeal to feminists who want to see the women winning-even when it means trashing the entire interest of the original. We saw it with the all female ghostbusters sequel and we've seen it with countless other films since.

This is why I like the movie Aliens. All the marines were given gender neutral names and just made into certain kinds of characters with certain personalities.

Then they held auditions and whichever man or woman best fit the character got the role.

The real crime is pretending that TOP GUN is still relevant in an age of autonomous combat drones and loitering munitions.

Current wars are being fought with a mouse, future wars won't even need the mouse.

Ironically women are becoming even less relevant to warfare than they were before, but I guess you can still make movies about aging boomers training the spunky cool chick.

Be that as it may, I'm still enough of a flight nerd to be excited to watch this, I'll be pleasantly surprised if they don't manage to turn the locker room into Brokeback Mountain.

Christ. Imagine caring about this stupid shit. It’s a movie you dorks. There are plenty of men’s rights issues that deserve being talked about. If you’re going to have a cry every time a women gets a leading role you’re going to be (rightfully) laughed off as being a bunch of babies.
