Some people have argued "well, there hasn't been a draft in years, so there's no risk!" If so, why not make women register, as well? There's not risk

And if there is a risk, why not make women register as well? Why only risk men's lives? There's really no justification for it other than that they simply value women more

Selective service registration is the longest running piece of political theater ever known. Every male is "registered for the draft" the second he's born, it's not like if you don't fill out this form you couldn't be drafted. Hell, they know your name and address to mail you the from in the first place.

So what does "registering" do? It really only exists to provide an established paper trail for prosecuting (or threat of) men who would try to avoid being drafted.

Although as a contract I can't imagine how it could have any legal validity...you sign it under duress, literally under threat of prosecution and incarceration.

It is an antiquated system that simply needs to go away.

I kind of think that making a tremendous push to force women to register just might do the trick.

Could also backfire. If the draft was really reinstated having them do a 50/50 split of male/female would horrifically backfire on men.

Women would have safe jobs - men would be pushed out of careers to dangerous jobs. It would be awful.

I avoided doing this for as long as possible. It wasn't until I had to do so to get my academic scholarship payment that I ended up doing it.

Tip: don't check online to see if you're registered. It's a trap. If it says that you're not registered, it'll set you up anyway and without warning.

The fact that women can vote but don't have to register is one of the greatest pieces of institutional sexism to ever exist.

Women could conceivably elect someone who could send me to die without having to fear the responsibility of going to fight themselves.

i kinda want to see the feminist's argument why only men should die in wars. I feel like they'd use the genetics card, women are weaker etc .. which makes sense but there should be a lot of dangerous jobs where being weak isn't a hindrance, for example dealing with bombs? I saw a video of a guy de-activating a bomb in the sand, a woman could do that easily.

Or if sending women to war is detrimental, then why don't we send them to do dangerous jobs or at least increase their taxes? Why do they have no detriment at all while men are forced to die?
