In this thread some people are expressing the usual sentiment of “it's not that hard for men to get laid”. Personally, I don't like the perpetual emphasis on getting laid as opposed to finding a partner, but that's irrelevant.

I have also seen it either asserted or strongly implied many times that the dating experience for men and women is basically the same. So certainly many people on here, I would suggest mostly women, believe that dating is not that much harder for men, if it's even harder at all.

There is a column in The Guardian called Blind Date. Here it is:

https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/series/blind-date

As the name would suggest, The Guardian sets people up and they go on blind dates.

I've looked as this column intermittently for years, and you simply cannot help noticing that it is far, far more likely for the two protagonists to meet, the man to be willing and even keen to see her again, and for the woman to not be remotely interested, than for the reverse to occur.

I could do some statistical analysis, but it would be too boring. So what I wanted people to do is click through the Blind Date column at random, it goes all the way back to 31st January, 2009, look at a few links, and post them in the comments section. If you can demonstrate that it's more likely, or equally likely, that the woman will be interested in seeing the guy again, but he's not interested in her, as vice-versa, I will be amazed. It will take some quite selective cherry-picking in order to do that.

So let me start. In the very first blind date on 31st January, 2009, they both got on. In the second blind date, the man said this:

Would you meet again?

Yes. It would be interesting to be in our own environment, where we could have a bit more craic. I reckon we could have a laugh.

And the woman said this:

Would you meet again?

Maybe, but not romantically. Also, he didn't compliment me and I did him (on his shirt).

In the fourth blind date featuring heterosexuals, this happened:

Would you meet again?

She didn't seem that interested, so I doubt it.

There are actually then a couple of dates where the two parties get on, then this one:

Would you meet again?

I'd certainly like to see Nicole again socially - she's great company and a wit.

Would you meet again?

I don't think we'll arrange anything, but Brighton is a small place and we'd stop to chat if we bumped into each other.

I'd like to note for that one that he gave her 10/10 and she gave him 5/10.

Play along with my game and see if you're willing to challenge your own views (I assume every man already knows what I'm saying is correct, though).
