Being a football player is work. And very lucrative work at that. Over the years we have become increasingly aware that they are putting themselves at risk of a terrible disease by playing. But not a whole lot of people care because football and other contact sports have become so entrenched in our culture. Something something bread and circuses.

I still watch football. I'm still very conflicted about the ethics of watching people who are putting their lives and health on the line for money. I don't think the magical designation of "work" removes any and all room for scrutiny of what the job entails.

As I've said in my other comment, it's pretty much impossible to codify the exposure to hazardous materials (human liquids) and provide the necessary safety measures for sex workers which is very different to jobs that people do on their every day basis. Yes, medical workers or childcare workers have some risks of exposure, but they're less than of sex workers and they have their own measures to deal with it. It isn't realistic nor (probably) safe for prostitutes to just take anti-HIV drugs all the time as a precautionary manner.

I think the last time you replied something about MMA fighters, but even they have less exposure and they certainly do not deal with sperm. Unless they do and I don't know something about MMA fighters.

Also, it seems that either prostitution directly harms mental health or it attracts people with already existing mental health problems. Most likely it's both these things. Yes, there are other jobs that harm one's well-being, but there are not jobs where children are forced into it and get molested by "clients" and then just can't leave "the industry". Yes, there is child labor, but child labor on its own while is still horrible is drastically different to molestation.

Would you support sex worker recruiters talking to High School girls, as you would for any other job?

Ironically most pro-sex work parents would never support encouraging or supporting their daughter to that job, but why not if it is like any other job?

So, sure, we can slap “job” onto anything and if your definition of job is “you get paid for some service”, then sure.

But then you just categorize them by hierarchy and state it’s not only an undesirable job, but one that no sane parent would want their kids to inevitably pursue one day.

Sex work and abuse are inherently connected, I reject your premise sex work is abuse.

Not all jobs are abuse, in fact, most aren't, in fact, I struggle to think of another job which is abusive. I'm curious if you can outline for me the abuse of other jobs.

Other jobs have abusive people in them, they may have abuses of power in them, but the activity itself is not abuse.

OP I don’t think you’re really accounting for people who live in poverty and have no choice but to resort to sex work and it’s probably more common than you think. “Customers” can simply find porn for free or even try talking to someone they would want to have sex with, but many sex workers wound up doing it due to very traumatic and unfortunate life circumstances, and around 85% of OF models make less than $200/month

There is a line of acceptable work. Some work passes this line due to how harmful it is. For example, We don't let people sell organs(at least in America). Swerfs believe that sex-work crosses this line.

What makes the discussion on sex work unique though is that the industry is populated by people who are diametrically opposed to their customers. The same women making onlyfans content will use their personal platforms to devalue men's sexuality, and attack the male gaze and male power fantasy as manifestations of perversion. Meanwhile, if men weren't so depraved and horny then there'd be no demand for the services being offered, since their behaviour would be compatible with healthy sexual desires and expression that are freely available.

This is really easy: a real profession is any profession that is not morally degenerate.

A lot of real professions (e.g. politicians, police officers, CEOs, actors) have lots of people in them doing morally degenerate things, but that doesn't make them inherently morally degenerate. Meanwhile, prostitution is inherently morally degenerate,
