Works for me. Why? He knows what he's about and sticks to his convictions.

How far does this extend, because by that logic you should find fierce drag queens attractive...

[–]cats_or_get_out 9 points9 points9 points 9 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I respect a man who has convictions. I may not be particularly impressed with those convictions (say, militant veganism) but I can respect that dedication.

I can respect someone without being attracted to him, but I couldn't be attracted to a man I didn't respect.

[–]Princeso_Bubblegum☭ The real red pill ☭2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

this is reminding me of a post I saw on /r/fullcommunism about how his ex told him that she found him initially attractive because of the passion he would talk about communism with lol

(and then later she became a communist)

[–]woefulwankPsychology of Romance1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So a man who would stave off sex "looking for that one" would do it for you?

[–]cats_or_get_out1 point 9 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Not in and of itself, but it would be a plus. I admire a man who is willing to put off instant gratification.

[–]shoup88Report me bitch7 points8 points9 points 9 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Not into at all. I can't think of any reason a guy would "save himself" that would be compatible with what I want. He's either religious (no thank you) or has a very low drive (even worse).

Also, Tim Tebow has resting dumb face and his neck is as wide as his head. Not hot.

[–]LongDongBlackKong[S] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

All right! Lol!

I thought Tim Tebow was considered hot. But I'm a straight male, I wouldn't know. I suppose everyone has different ideas of hotness.

[–]shoup88Report me bitch4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, some women are definitely into the meathead look, but not me. Give me a wiry Jeff Goldblum or Chris Thile anyday.

[–]ErrantBadger2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Tim Tebow seems to have been a posterboy to show young women saving themselves "look, a man who is devout can be athletic and attractive, he gets to choose to turn down women!" but he's pretty unattractive.

[–]LongDongBlackKong[S] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Just curious, why? Is it looks or values and personality?

Are there women that find him attractive?

I've always thought he was secretly gay to be honest. He has the stereotypical lisp, and most of the saving themselves for marriage type get married as soon as they finish high school or college.

He could literally walk into any mega church or Christian conference, find a hot one, start chatting her up, and BOOM! six months later a ring on it.

[–]ErrantBadger1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Why is he unattractive? His features are potato like for me, he can't seem to string a sentence together. I also think his chaste image is bullshit and I prefer men to be honest. Also the values don't align at all, say a ONS I couldn't respect him for breaking values that I don't agree with?

I think he was used as the posterboy for very devout young women because there is a problem in Christian groups with women saving themselves and raising family but ending up 36 and single. The quiverfull movement have a massive amount of daughters not marrying and quiverfulls show him off as something for girls to wait and aspire for. Lack of socialisation within church settings can often mean men come across as socially inept and (without meaning to) seem creepy or totally uninterested in women. He was shown as the hyper-confident type. I'm sure some Christian girls find him attractive for that.

Edit: You're right about the megachurch and within 6 months a ring thing, but I reckon a large part of that would be him as a trophy and the father's approval, maybe even a girl desperate to leave her family fold and get laid with said trophy. You've really made me consider my own views on this.

[–]LittleWindowpane 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Can you tell me about how the lack of socialization makes the guys seem creepy? Are you saying that they're creepy only when they pursue women, due to inexperience and ineptitude, or that their personalities are fundamentally creepy?

[–]LongDongBlackKong[S] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Reconsider? You think he's gay now too?

[–]IamTheWalkingMenu 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I would be very happy to show Tim what he's been missing. He looks pretty fueg to me. 💪🏻 I'm single and I'll even skip shopping today if he's free. 😂

I wouldn't be put off by someone who is a virgin, but I wouldn't date someone who's waiting for marriage. I can't think of a reason for him to wait that wouldn't mean we're just... not compatible. It doesn't make him "endearing" or "unmasculine," it just means I'm not for him.

[–]ErrantBadger3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I couldn't date any man who was doing that as I don't find submission to church attractive. Men who are virgins but not religious never bothered me. I have two friends who were saving themselves, both admitted they were also very very shy of women as had only socialised with them in a church setting and said they thought they would die virgins. I have to wonder if the saving themselves thing was a nice excuse to avoid putting themselves out there as the moment one got engaged to a non religious girlfriend (internet relationship at first) they were fucking like rabbits.

Tim Tebow is a bad example like the Jonas brothers as no sex before marriage was more preach no practice, but no matter how hot a man is I could not date or have a LTR with a chap who saves himself. That is probably my own views on churchly submission, my cousin had a hard line that any man she met had to be saving himself. She was always honest that any bloke who had slept around was disgusting to her.

[–]LongDongBlackKong[S] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Haha! Seems to happen! For some sooner than others.

[–]ErrantBadger0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The thing is those two friends were and are very handsome but that absolute shyness led to them seeing women as aliens. I suggested Christian single nights and don't go to meet your wife, go to learn mingling and small talk but their mothers were around which isn't conducive to small talk.

[–]KnightwriterI2 points 9 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

It depends partly on the dude and partly on the church some are going to be weak inept morons others find keeping their dick in there pants is going to be as natural as breathing.

[–]AliceOxalis 3 points3 points3 points 9 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

It would depend on how long he expects to date and be engaged before the wedding, lol

[–]LongDongBlackKong[S] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So, a yes, if certain conditions are met.

[–]tiposkChad Thundercock: the story of a manospherian homoerotic fantasy2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I wouldn't discard him right away, but chances are that we might be incompatible, not because of his virginity but because of the motives behind that decision. His attractiveness in this case would be irrelevant.

[–]CreepyPsychoStalker 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, I'm not religious and given the importance of sex in most relationships there's also the risk of complete incompatibility.

[–]DrunkGirl69Manic Pixie Drunk Girl2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I semi recently met a guy who's hot enough to pull this off. I'm so horny and I kind of like his calming jesus talk when I'm high.

He would've been maybe the hottest guy I ever slept with but he insisted that we wait and get to know each other first, says he wants to be in love before having sex. We're not dating though, just hang out at work together. And ok two dates but still no sex. Some days we just chat about life and some days we make out in secrecy. It's hot but I wanna do him so bad

My first boyfriend was a virgin and wouldn't hook up with me at first either. It was super hot when we got it going though

Idk why I am attracting and attracted to these guys? But I am

[–]LongDongBlackKong[S] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]TW_CountryMusicbluepill redneck1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I would respect his commitment to his values and think highly of him for that reason. But I wouldn't date him. Marriage is a huge, huge commitment and sex is a huge, huge part of marriage. I wouldn't enter into a marriage with someone I wasn't 100% sure I was compatible with sexually. His being attractive wouldn't change my feelings about this.

Plus, chances are he's very religious, and I wouldn't marry a very religious person either.

So, he has my respect and well wishes, but we wouldn't work out.

[–]MisgenderedCactusEgalitarian, Pro-MGTOW, FtM Transgender, Atheist1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I wouldn't find it weird, but there's numerous reasons your scenario wouldn't work out for me.

First, if he's devoted to saving himself for marriage, he's most likely extremely religious and given that I'm in the US, probably a hyper Christian. I'm an atheist. He'd probably not date me at all, least not without considering it his duty to convert me and "save me from hell". My lover is a Christian, but he's a laid back Episcopalian, and thinks that anyone who is a good person "goes to heaven" so he's not worried about me.

Secondly...Tim Tebow? Uh. Nope. I already don't find muscular, athletic guys attractive. Give me someone like Robert Carlyle, Jonah Hill, or Rick Moranis. Not a jockbro attention whore with a huge neck.

Thirdly, I'm anti-marriage and am never going to partake in said ceremony, so he'd be celibate forever if he was with me. So, yeah...Wouldn't work out whatsoever.

As for whether I'd find his decision unmasculine or weird? No, of course not. I'd have a fair amount of respect for him, because it's probably not easy in the modern dating scene. I have a lot of trouble finding men who are okay with waiting for sex past the 6th date...can't imagine what it'd be like for someone who wants to wait for marriage.

I imagine things may have bent different in the south or the midwest, with regards to who's boning who. It's still rare nowadays and most people who belong to the group marry as soon as the graduate high school or college.

yup! philly born and raised. no, christianiity, aka churchianty, changed dramatically in the US with the flight of more liberal people into the megachurches (still liberal, but the mainstream churches wer ebecoming TOO liberal after the 70s). US nonmainstream church christianity serves the female imperative and has bent over backwards to accomodate a very unchristian sex egalitarianism. no oUS christian sex ever harped on men savign themselves for marriage, it was a chrisitan ideal for men to be chaste, but there was an enormous amount of unspoken hypocrisy. it is part of the cargo cult, cosplay element of all fundamentalisms and is the only way they can promote that modern WOMEN save themselves for marriage. source, i have a BA in religion studies and spent a lot of time studying US christianity and wrote papers in the flight from the PC USA to evangelicism etc

Listen here, baby:

So liberals went to megachurches? To me it seems like conservatives went to megachurches and liberals stayed where they were at and eventually just stopped practicing religion.

I'll take your word for it, there must be some fundies out there that do so, but in my religious upbringing there was absolutely no distinction between the genders in teachings on sex before marriage. Both genders were taught that sex before marriage was wrong. No distinction whatsoever in message.

source, i have a BA in religion studies and spent a lot of time studying US christianity and wrote papers in the flight from the PC USA to evangelicism etc

Ummm a BA in religion doesn't make your views correct. I mean, just because someone gets a degree in political science, it doesn't make their political views 'right.'

I don't see it negatively or positively. I just see it as their choice to live their life they way they want. I'm personally not religious but I respect religious people who actually practice what they preach, which is extremely rare.

If I were single I might date a guy with these values but would hesitate to be in a LTR headed toward marriage because I don't know if marrying someone without knowing if you're sexually compatible is a great idea.

I love virgins, I think "innocent" guys are really hot. I would 100% prefer a virgin (well, an innocent virgin, there are involuntary virgins who are obsessed with porn and sex and those are even worse than regular perverts) to a guy who wasn't.

[–]Willow-girlSuffering from bovarian oppression1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I can't imagine a man doing this other than for religious reasons, and I'm not religious so I would RUN LIKE HELL! :-D

[–]FiliaSecunda1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Well, I'm saving myself for marriage, so if a man is doing the same, it would signal that we probably have some similarities in worldview. I'm a socially inept teenage girl who's never dated, but I know it would be stressful if I dated a guy who considers sex a more casual thing - I'd worry that it might be unfair to him, or that he might start looking down on me as a prude.

Some socially well adjusted people don't date until their 20s FYI. Just keep on making friends and networking. That's the way to find good people.

I'd find it interesting. It would increase or decrease attractiveness. It has nothing to do with masculinity. It wouldn't determine whether or not I dated the person.
