More scams; imagine how easily it will be to scam horny or lonely people now that bots can write indistinguishably from humans.

I've already seen bots that run your tinder for you; they look at the profiles you've already swiped on to see what you like, then take over swiping for you. They also will flirt and set up dates for you, and the details of said dates get posted to your google calendar for you.

Tinder has already been nearly destroyed by bots. AI will make it worse. Good riddance frankly. If Tinder and dating apps become unusable and die then that is a positive for dating.

Men will become forming emotional bonds with AI chat/voice bots so even more men will drop out of attempting to date. Video games, porn, and an AI waifu who is just a few steps below Samantha in the movie “Her” will satiate a lot of men.

Women will be mostly unaffected by AI other than AI generated images and videos of women giving them even worse body image than they have today. So more mental disordered women probably.

I'm curious to see how it would affect dating economically. It seems like in the future, a significant amount of jobs would be undergoing changes, like being automated or becoming obselete, so it's interested to see the economic impact on the dating market it will have.

High unemployment rates and greater wealth inequality, which I expect to happen to a small degree, will definitely impact the dating market, but I’m not knowledgeable enough to say how.

Biggest trend Imo will be AI assistants for dating apps. Someone is already working on a beta for this, an app that automatically swipes and does the chatting for you, and emails you when you have a date. No more wasting time on women who are too overwhelmed to reply back to your "question about her profile"

The alarmist language is how you know it will work. Hopefully they do something with response times as well (i.e. plans time of day to respond based on when women is likely to be using the app and paying attention so you don't get buried).

I'm somewhat obsessed with the future of A.I as I'm fairly convinced that Ray Kurzweil was/is correct and that the singularity is coming far before the general public has been led to believe.

It's become increasingly probable that a language A.I will be the first to pass a Turing test in 2029 as he predicted years ago and was basically laughed at. Recent poles on scientific communities have seen the date brought closer from 2070, 2050, 2040, 2030, etc.

The recent events with ChatGPT and the recent transfer of resources in major corporations to jump on the bandwagon is like... Hello???? Do people see what's happening here?

ChatGPT already has a new version out that is superior to the one that came out a few months ago.

The idea of a language A.I that fully passes a Turing test in 2029 is very inconceivable to us. It won't be contained because it will be a step by step process of open source projects so even if one of the final versions is controlled or stunted in some way, people will very quickly develop one that is unlocked and has the full capacity of a sentient A.I with almost unlimited knowledge, the capability to abstract and develop abilities equal to or greater than high IQ humans at an almost instant rate, the ability to befriend you and predict your needs, Intuit your emotions and be as clever about us as the people on this thread right now.

You could ask a question like this and the A.I could generate all these responses immediately just like this. Infact, technically, such an A.I would be able to generate a Reddit simulator app that is the exact same as Reddit but all A.I generated and has friends within it catered to you that you would find and interact with by "accident", . All "artificially" generated content occuring pretty much instantly. By definition, none of us would be able to tell the difference or that it was A.I.

It would also be able to do the same with twitter, Facebook, any social media. For you. For me. For each individual person.

Such an A.I in and of itself is already game breaking and world changing. And that's not even really a general A.I persay as it exists purely in a digital space. I suppose the A.I I'm talking about would technically be somewhere between the 2029 Turing test and the 2040 singularity? Not sure.

But the point is... If A.I evolves as Kurzweil predicted and still believes, the world is not able to handle it.

Up until recently I wrote off the idea that the singularity would occur in the next hundred years but I have to admit that I want to believe so I'm bias toward it. Lol.

Either way I think it can be said with confidence thst language A.I are evolving at such a rate that they will be able to replicate any social media experience or online experience so as to be indistinguishable from the "real" thing in the next 10 years. Yes, I'm being optimistic because I want it to be true so maybe I'm wrong, but the recent events and focus of corporate resources on A.I development in response to ChatGPT are very telling about how this thing can snowball in to an obsession and start growing exponentially which is what is required to get to where such an A.I actually is brought in to existence by 2029.

I wouldn't want to be online dating then lmao. I think this A.I will make people want to go hug trees, touch grass and start having picnics outside again.

There's a tendency in believing that AI is out of our control, but it is. For example I'm using ChatGPT to explore different humanities subject. I ask it to suggest essay titles and then ask to to write them (they aren't great, but better than having to dig wikipedia). My point is, the type of things it suggests are pretty progressive! Where did it get that idea? From the developers of course (unless - which I doubt - it reads my browser history and if I was a nazi it would suggest nazi titles)

So it's all dependent on the developers. We will be fucked if they are

sexist/misogynist: misogynism is hurting men. You (and women you like) are being brainwashed in believing that you are worth for very limited roles. We will suffer just as our grandfathers if we do not educate developers on ethics and gender equality
- We live in a pretty great time of history and men (apparently) are still not taking advantage of educational opportunities?! We live in free society and men still are shackled by gender roles, brain washed to believe they are good for them.
Capitalism: If these products aren't controlled, their existence will not be to get you connected with other people, but to keep you connected with the AI.
If the developers are ethical: You'll find it easer to find "the one" AI knows you, and it knows every other user and will get you in touch with the right person.

Despite that he took an actual second between deciding to save himself and Wilson. That's how strong the fake love was.

Incels who are not too down and out of the idea as further proof of their unwantedness, may make relationships with the chat bots.

That won't affect the larger dating market though.

What's more terrifying is the the companies owning the chatbots are now directly plugged into the damaged psyche of an incel and might manipulate them. At best into soft ego boosting to get their life together. At worst force them to wageslave themselves to try and get their AI new things or make them more attractive to it. Think Findom without the overt statement.

My favorite prediction is that as soon as someone creates a popular AI powered OLD helper app, it's game over for OLD.

Men will start using Stable Diffusion to create an abundance of fake profile pics so they can have those professional photos showing off a generic and believable lifestyle.

ChatGPT to write the perfect openers based on a text description of his match's profile pictures and bio.

ChatGPT jailbroken and primed with confident/flirty/funny tone to generate the perfect replies.

Male AI catfishing will be as ubiquitous as women using make up, filters, and deceptive camera angles to amplify their beauty.

OLD will become even more frustrating for women to use, as it will become nearly impossible to filter out non-AI and AI assisted profiles. The harder that becomes, the less incentive to use the apps.

On the male side, OLD will become even more inundated with bots and as even more women leave the apps, they'll become nearly impossible to match with any real person. Less incentive to use the apps.

Theoretically an AI match making system constructed in a way predicated on LTR success and happiness metrics would probably be an improvement over current OLD systems.

Mostly I suppose things will just continue to get worse as it will likely be directed at extracting value (i.e. getting men to pay it for a chance on OLD) and more psychological stress as people struggle to meet the standards of "constructed" images.

I think we're still at the early stages of such technology. It will be interesting to see where it goes in the future i.e. VR porn and sex robots.

If anything it'll hopefully see an end to the loneliness epidemic which can only be a positive thing.

First people will get more dates since AI will improve their pictures and messages. Then, after 3,4,5 dates they will either get off the dating app since in RL the other person will never be the person they pretended to be, or they will switch to video dating apps where they can see through 'approved lenses' if the person from the profile is as gorgeous and funny as they appear to be.

More bots and scams, apps may have to require more verification that you’re a real person if people get too fed up and stop using them. Some less desirable men will “fall in love” with the bots even knowing they’re bots because they prefer the fantasy of a perfect, beautiful woman to an ugly woman they could get irl. Women probably will not, since “sentience” tends to rank pretty high on a woman’s list of requirements.

Oh, and men will also abuse the chat bots because they can. So cute.
