Is "abundance mentality" the same as "be extroverted with low neuroticism"?

I bought an SUV last month.

I picked a budget (read:league), test drove a few (dated), did some reading (vetting), then bought one (got hitched).

I could've picked one of the other ones I tested and been ok, but this one worked with my lifestyle, budget, and needs. If it hadn't appeared, I'm sure I could've found another I liked similarly.

This is a dummy analogy for abundance mentality in action.

Why would it be "extroverted with low neuroticism"? It just means having an attitude that if you can not get one particular thing that there is another one out there for you.

Close but not exactly. You could be extroverted, and not neurotic, but still not get laid often and subcommunicate that. Abundance mentality really comes down to not being needy, and having internal validation. If a girl turns down your advances, it doesn't matter because you're an attractive guy and will easily find one who will be receptive. That subcommunicates preselection, and preselection indicates high value.

As someone who has been in the clutches of scarcity mentality as well as experienced (relative) abundance mentality, I think I can safely say that it is definitely not the same as being an extrovert.

Even neuroticism not really. Lack of abundance mentaility (scarcity mentality) creates neuroticism. You'd be surprised how changable a trait neuroticism is in practice. Developing an adundance mentality (amongst many other changes) can effectively change a person's neuroticism.

I suppose that's not far off from low neuroticism but I think theres a little more precision to abundance mentality. More akin to IDGAF attitude. Low-neuroticism guys can still get oneitis or act desperately.

Maybe? I’m often described as aloof and highly social and it does seem to actively encourage people to gravitate toward me and want to be my friend. But it’s not something I’ve cultivated. I’ve been this way since nursery according to my parents.

That said I am very prone to some neuroticism but it doesn’t last for me (thank god), because the natural flightiness comes in with a “eh who gives a f*** in the grand scheme of things,” and then I’m relieved lol.

I’m not that religious but one piece of biblical scripture that’s always resonated with me has been, “count it all joy.”

It really keeps you level headed and zen! It also helps with keeping yourself grounded and very assured. And I think that’s what people perceive as “abundance mentality.” That sense of assuredness and awareness.

This trait probably benefits men more than women when it comes to attracting the opposite sex however lol.

Abundance mentality is a mindset and it doesn't need to be about a large cohort of potential women, even the feeling of "If I leave this one, I know I will find another good one" can do wonders. Abundance mentality is very useful in many other areas of work where there's any sort of negotiation at hand.

no, you're overthinking it. it's not limited to certain personality types or anything like that. we all have a very strong instinctive drive to mate and reproduce because evolution. if you don't feel like you have an abundance of options, it's going to make you seem desperate and you will do all kinds of stupid shit and put up with stuff you shouldn't put up with whenever anything that seems like a possible "option" appears in front of you. that instinctive part of your brain is going to be like "OMG THAT'S A GIRL..MAYBE I CAN FUCK HER...OK YOU NEED TO FOCUS 100% ON DOING WHATEVER IS NECESSARY TO FUCK HER BECAUSE YOU MIGHT NOT GET ANOTHER CHANCE TO MATE WITH A WOMAN."

on the other hand, if you have an abundance mentality, if you truly feel like you have lots of other options, you won't be so desperate to get with any particular girl. if she starts being too demanding or acting bitchy or whatever, you're not going to just put up with it because there are so many other girls. you can just move on to the next one.

The truth is there arent many people you could have a long lasting relationship with.

you don't have an abundance mentality. there are almost 8 billion people on Earth. about half of them are women. even if you eliminate the ones who are too young or too old or happy in an existing relationship or live in some tiny village in the middle of no where that you'll never visit, there are still A LOT of women. and even if you are only long term compatible with a small fraction of them, it's still a huge number.

a big part of creating a relationship is being able to ride that line between having an abundance mentality and not falling too hard or too soon on one side, and on the other side trying to steadily grow closer and more connected emotionally to build a more solid relationship. catching oneitis is bad, but being too far the other side and staying distant and keeping your options open won't last indefinitely either. eventually she will get sick of being just one of your options and she will next you. you just have to try to keep the right balance, that's the game.

It has a lot in common with it. Abundance mentality comes from knowing you always have another option and another shot at it.

Being "extroverted with low neuroticism" certainly helps.

In fact, introverted people are the most frowned upon, pair that with high or even medium neuroticism and you have a recipe for social disaster and chronic loneliness.

No because I think very very few people have abundance mentality. Extroverted is a must but low neuroticism can be subjective.

Every single person has emotional baggage. Even cheds, they develop their personality to hide it though.
