I posted this in Relationship_Advice, but after thinking about it for a while, I wonder if my problems highlight good conversation starters in gender issues debates, so here it is.

I’ve been going out with this girl for a few weeks now, and we’ve been on 4 dates so far. I really struggled with self confidence issues in the past, but I thought that I had overcome them. Anyways, I really like this girl and I enjoy spending time with her, and she told me that she likes me as well. However, I just noticed now how I probably have appeared like I am not attracted to her. I haven’t really had any physical contact with her, partly because I don’t want her to think I’m a fuckboy who is trying to use her, and partly because I am too scared to make the first move. On our last date, when I was dropping her off, I apologized to not being very flirty, saying that I didn’t have a ton of experience. She said not to worry about it, and then I asked what I could be doing better. She told me “You are a really nice guy, and I really appreciate the level of respect that you are treating me with, a lot of guys aren’t like that. But, this is kind of hard to explain, you should stop overthinking things. If you think something, don’t try to think it over and over, just do it” and then we share an awkward silence for a while. Something in the back of my head told me "This is your moment to kiss her." But I couldn't do it. I don't know if this is due to my self confidence issues suddenly coming back or whatnot, but I just want to know if anyone else has been in a similar situation. I'm hoping that I'll still have the opportunity to go on a fifth date with her, but I'm afraid that it is going to be my last opportunity to tell her that I really do like her, even if my body language doesn't come off like I do.

What are your thoughts (from a neutral point of view) as to what I can do better to improve myself without going too far to one extreme or the other?

EDIT:

I feel like this might come across as 1 of 3 things:

A) that I am lacking the ability to read a situation - this isn’t true, as I knew in the back of my mind that I thought she wanted me to kiss her even during the situation

B) that I didn’t want to kiss her - yes I did. Really badly.

C) that I wasn’t comfortable in control of a situation - yup, I think this is it. If she went to kiss me, I would have been more than thrilled.
