we were talking about Casual Sex within the context of how people view their partner's histories SPECIFICALLY when it comes to "wifing up" people. So specifcially for LTRs. I was pointing out it was hypocritical for men who rack up an N count and are "studs" to desire women who are "virgins" or "virginal" as Wifey material, because THOSE women would certainly not tolerate a high N count in a man when it comes to "husbanding" them up, so you're not following the topic clearly.

No, not that study. We're looking for studies which show the attitudes towards partners based on their sexual history. Surveys of men and women about how likely they would be to date the opposite partner if they knew their sexual history and asking questions with regards to how many previous partners there are. It turns out, women and men both, when it comes to relationships, generally prefer a partner with some sexual experience but not too much. Unlike the stereotype that women tolerate promiscuity in Men, they certainly don't when they are looking for a Long Term Partner.

I'm not talking about "post marriage". We're talking about PRE marriage. We're talking about SELECTION process for picking mates. Like a man who deludes himself that a N-count 2 woman would find his 60+ N count perfectly acceptable. It's just not the case. yes but the hypocrisy falls along the lines of expecting their partner to have a Low Count and accept their "accomplishment" of racking up a high count - a woman who desires a "husband" material really wont be impressed by the fact he was able to lay SO MANY women, it would eat away at her desire for him and create feelings of insecurity. Men(who follow a player lifestyle while also holding out for virginal woman to marry, if they marry at all) are hypocrites for thinking that their behavior is acceptable to the women they wish to court. Its very unlikely (though not entirely impossible) for a woman to find a player-type guy to be a suitable partner as a husband. If a woman stays chaste her life she would actually prefer a man who is similarly chaste as her. That way they have compatible life experiences and goals and values. It makes little sense for a man to insist his partner stays chaste when he does not stay chaste himself.

You're jumping back and forth between men in general and men on this sub. MOST people on this subreddit are aware of the studies. You can't seem to make up your mind if you are talking about men on this subreddit or men in general.

They are admitting their sexual history to the sub and choosing to not disclose it to their potential wife. Considering the facts on the studies related to female sexual history and relationship happiness and how men and women view causal sex differently and the difficulty in men receiving causal sex, there is nothing wrong with the hypocrisy.

Well there's an issue with your thought process here.

Women want masculine men, men want feminine women. Both are operating under the assumption that the person they desire wants what they are offering. And they're right! Basically it's not hypocritical because they're holding themselves to a standard their potential partner would desire from them. It's not hypocritical to be feminine and desire masculinity because the reason one would be feminine is to attract a masculine men who desires a feminine woman. So it's not hypocritical to hold yourself to a standard that you feel your partner would want to hold you to.

However , it is hypocritical to not hold yourself to a standard that you hold your partner to when you know your potential partner has the same standards, since most women who hold themselves to a chaste standard would expect the same from their partner, it's hypocritical for someone to hold themselves to a different standard than what their desired mate would hold them to.

This is again not about how it related to desiring casual sex. If a man desires a wife he should hold himself to the Standard this wife would hold him to, to do otherwise is wrong.

I am not hamstering. It might be hypocritical if you look at the definition of HYPOCRISY, however the idea here is that WOMEN AND MEN have different standards of what they find attractive ANYWAY so my revised understanding is as such

It is hypocritical to expect your partner to hold themselves to the standards you set for them, if you do not hold yourself to the standards they set for you.

That's the definition of HYPOCRISY I think makes sense in this context otherwise there's no clear way of knowing wither or not the standards are "wrong".

Under this definition we can do a litmus test:

Is it hypocritical for a feminine women to desire a masculine man?

The answer is NO (under the definition I put forth) because the woman is holding herself to a standard that her partner expects from her.

Now disregarding the DESIRE for casual sex and the differences between the genders and their DESIRES for casual sex, and looking ONLY at their DESIRES for a WIFE/HUSBAND let's look at the following

A man desires a chaste wife while also himself being very promiscuous.

Is his hypocritical? He holds his wife to his standard of Chasity while not holding himself to the standards his wife would hold him to.

How do we know this? Because when it comes to relationship there are not gender differences in what men and women want from each other's sexual history. There are virtual no virginal/chaste women who would be satisfied with a promiscuous husband.

The key factor here is if the man would need to LIE to this women about his sexual history to get his foot in her door. If she's got a stance against promiscuity in general, she will hold herseLF and her partner to that , so the man would likely need to LIE to have an opportunity with such a woman.

That's how you know it's wrong. His actions are in direct contradiction to his desire. If he desired a virginal woman, he would consider what a virginal woman wants in a man, and act accordingly. That would not be hypocritical. .

I'm not REDEFINING hypocrisy. I'm staying that in my belief of what makes someone Hypocritical when it comes to relationships where there are gender differences a better definition of hypocrisy is needed

The standard definition makes sense if you do not take into account gender differences. Once you realize that women are feminine not because they idealize being feminine (otherwise they would expect men to be feminine) but rather they idealize embodying what their partner finds attractive. If you look at it from this angle it does make sense since there is no gender difference here. Both women and mean can idealize embodying what their partner finds attractive.

Okay, so, since both women and men can embody what the other finds attractive we can understand why it's Hypocritical better

Let's keep digging there...it's very hard to have a grasp of hypocrisy if you treated everything the same. Then everything would be hypocritical when it comes to gender differences and double standards. But when you contextualize it - when you realize the ideals don't fall along the lines of feminine and masculine but rather GREATER ideals of our commitments to each other...our commitments to making sure we find a relationship which is genuinely satisfactory... That is a greater ideal that DOES transcends the gender differences making it far more easier to understand which behaviors are hypocritical and which are not.

It turns out that regardless of the things you're saying which are true, they are not relevant to the very specific scenerio

Nothing else matters besides what a non promiscuous wife thinks of a promiscuous man here. Except for exceptional cases most chaste women would desire a chaste man. Promiscuity is inherently unnatractive to her, and her goals for the Relationship. So she would not want to be with such a man.

Thus it would be wrong for a man, who desires such a woman, to behave opposite to what she would want.

If virginal women desired promiscuous men, it would be a different story. They don't.

We're not talking about promiscuous women, we are talking about virginal women and men who want virginal women while being themselves promiscuous. Maybe he would temper his expectations of the woman - obviously if he wants to soe his wild oats he would expect his woman to be OK with that - so she would need to be "sex forward" and really not be too bothered by promiscuity. She might have a higher N count than a virginal religious woman, she might have had a few ONS , and casual sex. That way she is accepting of the mindset behind the desire to be promiscuous. So a man who wishes to soe his wild oats and be promiscuous ought to seek a woman who would not mind such a thing. She could be promiscuous or not but she probably wouldn't be "virginal". Since gender differences muddle hypocrisy it's important to identify a non gendered ideal to hold people to.

In this case the non gendered ideal would be - people shouldn't murder.

So in that case you would judge people based on that. I'd say that if it's definitely proven that women drinking = murder and men drinking != Murder it's fair to forbid women from drinking while allowing men to do so.

But at the same time if there is not strong evidence, if there is no proof that this is caused by drinking, it wouldn't be quite fair since it's inaccurate.

For example if you can find that 60% of the woman who drank did not murder, you wouldn't want to ban women from drinking and focus on the 40% of women who do murder to find out why they're affected.

So basically - it depends on how accurate your claim is.

A promiscuous past itself shouldn't be an automatic next, but a red flag indeed. And this is going to be judged across men and women differently.

I still don't see anything wrong with that because even if men don't know the studies themselves, they inherently know what a wantonly promiscuous women's traits are. This is of course perpetuated by society's tendency to slut shame women, but it is interestingly coincidentally aligned with what the study suggests; that promiscuous women are broken in some sense.

Takes these studies as fact and society's (correct) view of slutty women, there is nothing wrong with wanting a relatively modest n count woman for partner REGARDLESS of the sexual history of the man.

Another thing to mention that under my understanding of hypocrisy in which the ideals and standards don't align to gender specific ideals but greater ideals which apply to both, the following WOULD be hypocritical.

A woman seeks a masculine man, while being masculine herself. This would be hypocritical because she is ignoring what a masculine man would want from her. Though she expects him to meet her standards for what she desires from a man, she does not expect herself to meet his standard for what he desires from her.

If a woman expects a man to meet her standards for attraction the ONLY factor by which to consider if she's behaving hypocritially or not is if she meets his standards for her behavior.

It would basically mean recentering the ideas of what is Hypocritical not on lower level standards such as masculinity and femininity, but higher level standards and ideals in Relationships which actually do apply to both genders, indiscriminately.

This is why I don't believe all double standards are hypocritical by nature, since the ideal isn't that there is masculine and feminine and you hold all people to that. The ideal is that you hold your partner to a standard which balances you, and they hold you to a standard which balances them. Different standards under the same ideals.

If you do not view hypocrisy this way, that means that the concept of hypocrisy becomes rather meaningless. The point of hypocrisy is that it's not something you want to be. In order for that to be true it's worth it to understand why a woman would for instance hold herself to standards she wouldn't hold her man yo and vice versa. You pull back the layers of that to discover these standards are infact operating within the same guiding ideals and principles. Which is that we should make our partners feel good ! We should make our partners feel attracted! And attractive too. If we both harbor the same ideals to commit to making each other happy the rest just becomes details , how we do it becomes irrelevant as long as both are committed to it. Then what we do is not really Hypocritical at all as long as the greater ideals which transcend gender differences are being upheld from both ends.

My explanation would be that the guy who was able to get laid as a teenager just by saying "Let's have sex because it would make me happy" is probably good-looking with social skills. He gets laid by just doing what comes naturally.

The guy who complains later in life is the guy who didn't get laid as a teenager because he was average looking or worse and had weak social skills. Now that he's older he's able to date women because he has a career (beta bux) and has gotten satisfactory practice at socializing to the point where he doesn't scare women off anymore. He's bitter because he's envious of both the women he's dating and the men in their pasts for being able to have teenage/college years full of carefree sex and intimacy. Now that he's finally able to get sex too, the only women who want to have it with him are those who also want other things from him, like resources and commitment. When you feel that you've missed your chance for the "carefree" phase, it's hard not to be resentful.

I've gone on and on about how shitty my boyfriends were. Sub users got sick of it. But I'll tell you and anyone who's sick of it can look away. My first two boyfriends were 5'5 and 5'7. I'm 5'6. They were chubby. I'm not chubby. They were bad at school. I'm good at school. They came from lower middle-class families. I came from an upper middle-class family. We frequented the same group of friends but they were less popular with the friends. They spent all their time playing useless video games and eating fast food and they didn't talk to people much. I had jobs, I was in sport teams, I was in student associations, I volunteered, I had hobbies, I talked more to people. They had no ambition, one was a weed addict who'd drink and crash his mom's car and the other was a porn addict who liked starfish sex where he was the starfish and he demanded that I do all the work. I honestly was just happy that we could talk and laugh and I wanted to make them happy and I had no expectation of them.

Well I'm actually in the same exact boat as her, and yeah maybe we're outliers or exceptional cases but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

IMO if you are discussing female nature you can choose to focus on 90% of the population (numbers game), compromising on the correctness of the theory as it applies to literally ALL women, as it apples to ENOUGH women to be a successful strategy.
