I know it might sound ironic to present this in a debate sub, but what is the point of debating? Ego satisfaction? A belief that what we believe is true and matters?

Sure, you can argue and give compelling details that might sway someone's opinion, but, other than the broadening of perspectives, what does debating actually prove?

Surely, both TRPer's and Bloops are rather cemented in their thinking because they feel that their life experiences have "shown them the light," but arguing whether something is correct or incorrect doesn't actually prove those things to be true, especially in a universe where change is constant. I'd wager that very little of what was, or could be argued about from, say, 50,000 years ago is really relevant today, or if today's would be relevant back then.

Aside from potentially gaining a new perspective on life, debating really does not do much of anything except provide those that might want to learn with the information that they might've been missing, yet still could have looked for if they were compelled to do so.
