I don't think this is hypergamy. She's not leaving him for someone better, she's leaving him because her branch is cracking and she is looking for the first available branch to swing to.

New man lends an ear and hopes to give advice, but also starts to talk himself up in ways that her boyfriend was lacking. New man seemingly doesn't care that the woman may be jumping ship but rather wants to swoop in and be the solution to her problem.

This is it. She has some theory of why her current relationship is failing, and you are advertising a relationship where this problem won't be a problem.
