Women rate 80% of men as below average. Therefore "average, confident and educated dude" is basically somewhere around 90th percentile.
So yeah, very true comic. Glad you're finally admitting it.

Then the premise of the comic is flawed because it's basically saying women want an "equivalent exchange" & saying it isn't hypocritical to ask for it.
Which means if you're right that's garbage.

So when women say average should we even trust them given how women rate men’s attractiveness? It’s not the same distribution as nen rating women so we can only assume mens idea of average is much much different than a woman’s idea of an average man. I’ve seen people call Kevin Hart “ugly” and Chris Pratt “average”. Keep in mind this girl probably doesn’t date outside her race either.

You are more than free to disagree with me, I am not trying to "win" anything, this is just a comic from one single female in a sea of RP/incel comics that generalize ALL women so if this ain't your thing, you are free to disagree or dislike it, I think two things can be true at the same time and there are nuances to each perspective.
Also, I drew the RP guy that way cause a lot of guys on here are angry let's face it.

Thing is, you don't have to. You don't have to spend time here. You could be off using those art skills to karma farm on mainstream reddit, with funny cartoons, or pictures of cute kittens or sexy women, or whatever.
But you're seeking out things that make you mad, just like the weird race of pointy-toothed snake-men you have created for us does. So what's going on here is not so much that you've created a strawman argument in order to prove something, as that you've created a strawman as a sort of punching bag because you want to be mad.
But people don't actually want to be mad when they're not mad already.
So I kinda think that you really are already mad about something, and you're finding ways to express that anger.

as that you've created a strawman as a sort of punching bag because you want to be mad.
Ah, a pedant. Short comics are hyperbolic by nature, and I feel like you are being mad about this because you are reading a lot more into it than it is. (probably cause you might be also looking to be mad about something).
I am not mad currently, a bit sad but I'm not mad. Either way, I don't understand why creating art or memes for any sort of cathartic purposes is bad according to you, especially since this was the time and a place for it and if you think that one little comic with an angry snake-eyed man with jagged teeth is worse than a literal ocean of shitposts and comics declaring they literally hate women, generalizing us, and insulting us, then I am sorry, but I yea, can't make everyone happy, and I have read a lot of posts within the manosphere that see women as even worse than Satan.

Ah, there's where you misunderstand me. It's not bad at all. I'm not pointing it out to get you to stop being mad. If you're mad, you're mad about something, you're mad for a reason, and that's important.
In fact, I just cheated and checked your submission history and saw it. And it makes sense. It's okay to be mad. We evolved "mad" for a reason.
You see criticism where none was intended, because, on some level, you expected to be criticized. To some degree, you expected me to be one of your snake-men.
What I wanted you to see, is that your snake-men are your impression of very real men who are also angry. About stuff that happened to them. And then maybe see that, from their perspective, you are the same sort of snake-woman.
And that they might draw cartoons where they are reasonable cartoonist avatar, and you are the pointy-toothed snake-woman screaming "I am silly!".
This situation looks the same from both ends, with each group portraying the other as a sort of snake-person caricature, when all you really have are people who have been hurt, and often go on to spread their unhappiness around with a big shovel.
[–]SaccharineXGood for health💊 Bad for education[S] 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago* (16 children) | Copy Link
My dude if I wasn't aware that some(the obligatory not all) of these men see us as snake-women, this wouldn't exist. And well, I mean you clearly also are upset by this since you keep reiterating your points, and really it is your own assumption that I see all men collectively like this simplified little caricature. Your flair says you are a misogynist, do you hate us all? How far should I read into this? Don't worry, I won't hold it against you because I assume you are a three dimensional person that has been hurt as well.

I see that you're not enjoying the experience of having your motives interpreted reductively. And thus are, with some degree of sarcasm, requesting the courtesy of the assumption that your views are more nuanced than your actual cartoon.
The easiest way to make this request would have been by example, while you were drawing and captioning. Asking for the Principle of Humanity to be applied on your behalf when you are literally depicting others as a mixture of human and reptile is a bit a of tough sell, no?
You're not used to being interpreted in a reductive and dehumanizing fashion, of course. This is not something that typically happens to women. And while it is something that typically happens to men, they don't actually like it, either, and it's not going to make them any nicer or more sympathetic to your concerns.

And thus are, with some degree of sarcasm, requesting the courtesy of that listeners extended to you the assumption that your views are more nuanced than your actual cartoon.
Pretty hard to express extremely nuanced views in a short comic, perhaps it was my technical flaw as an author, however, I think you are still choosing to read into this too much.
literally depicting others as a mixture of human and reptile is a bit a of tough sell, no?
Oh, I see. The purge is funny and "not serious" when a bunch of men write shitposts about how they literally hate women, meme about us, draw us as guns, insult us, and generalize us in the worst possible ways, but one 2 panel comic is supposed to be taken as an iron-clad truth that is not hyperbolic at all. And hey, as I've said, interpret it however you want, I've said all there is to it.
And while it is something that typically happens to men, they don't actually like it, either, and it's not going to make them any nicer or more sympathetic to your concerns.
Those that are too jaded and extremely hateful won't be nice or sympathetic to me no matter what I do or say because I will always be an awalt in their eyes.
To those that genuinely want to discuss serious things with me, my arms are open to them. (yes serious discussions, not purge shit posts)
[–]WhisperHappy Misogynist0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link
That's kind of the point.
It's not fun to have an off-the-cuff remark interpreted as being indicative of the whole of your psyche, which, as we have now established, is both something you are indignant at, and something you just did to others.
It's also not fun to have your remarks on what you are observing attributed wholly to personal motives for being angry, which is both something you are indignant at, and something you just did to others.
Now, it's not like you're unusually unreasonable about this... you are only usually unreasonable, because many others are doing this, too. Male anger, regardless of its cause or effect, has become so socially unacceptable that people think they are being perfectly reasonable, when they intrude into male spaces, created solely for the purpose of addressing male anger through both expression and solutions, and object to male anger being expressed there.
Followed by the standard practice of diving onto the ground and writhing in feigned agony like a FIFA soccer player trying to draw the penalty.
Look, I get it. Male anger is scary, because we are so much better equipped for direct violence. An angry dude might look a lot like an angry leopard from your perspective.
But leopards also get angry if provoked. And if you go into the jungle and meet an angry leopard, don't act like it suddenly showed up in your laundry room being all scary. The jungle is where leopards do leopard things. No one invited you there, and no one is going to criticize you for not going.
[–]SaccharineXGood for health💊 Bad for education[S] 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago* (12 children) | Copy Link
Sure but my point tho was that I understand that most of these men who make these shitposts are hurt and venting and I am not taking them 100% seriously, regardless of whether I like/dislike them. That was my entire point.
Also, you insisting that I'm infiltrating male spaces is pretty wrong because PPD is a neutral space. Everyone can post whatever they want ( well, during purge at least). So leopards can do leopard stuff and I can depict leopard stuff.
But I do agree with your point that two wrongs don't make a right and that just because you find something threatening it isn't okay to gaslight it, especially when you are dealing with people who have been hurt. I am not a mean person in my personal life and I do try to understand people, so I can see how my depiction might make some of these guys feel bad. If I make more shit next purge, I'll try to get better and present things in a more nuanced way.
[–]Whisper1 point 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
But I do agree with your point that two wrongs don't make a right and that just because you find something threatening it isn't okay to gaslight it, especially when you are dealing with people who have been hurt.
That is indeed the conversation I was trying to work towards.
However, I'm not a big "right and wrong" guy, so I would put it this way, instead... Reactions like this tend to feed off each other and create self-reinforcing patterns where two sets of people reinforce each their mutual hostility with mirroring behaviour.
It's more useful if you don't get caught in this loop. And certainly I could say this to men as well, but in this conversation, they are an abstraction... I can't say anything to a cartoon character, only to a cartoonist.
Which kinda brings me to my next point... it may be puzzling to you to see a statement made in PPD as unwarranted interference in men working out their own problems.
It's not statements made here that constitute this kind of interference, it's PPD itself. Someone has taken a private self-help and mutual assistance group for males only, and pulled up a bunch of chairs, sat down on them with binoculars and notebooks in hand, and proceeded to "study" the process, while commenting loudly on its perceived ethics and effectiveness.
TRP is only public so that more men can find it and participate if they wish.
[–]SaccharineX1 point 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
I mean I agree that TRP and similair subs should be allowed to exist as a place for men on the internet but these men who are here choose to come to PPD. I think it's pretty clear that PDD is not a place you go to if you want support or validation in your beliefs. Quite the opposite. It's a given that people will dissect your beliefs and might not always agree.
I had some really nuanced and interesting convos here, most people regardless of pill tend to be somehat cordial. (unless it's purge week)
It certainly makes some sense that someone would say of PPD "if you don't like it don't look"... but the same thing can be said to PPD about TRP, which was kind of the point.
The annoyance I've personally experienced with the handwringing brigade is that they don't confine themselves to their own groups... they leak. My "wall of death threats" is more of a source of amusement than anything else, but the difficulties it adds to modding are considerable... I keep having to pick new mods because they burn out.
Imagine your sub gets quarantined one day, 'cause other folks can't mind their own damn business, and suddenly you have twenty thousand messages in the queue from mobile phone users who can't get in, because the quarantine prompt only doesn't display properly on the phone version.
All because people can't stand to have men being angry in a private and isolated space I made for them to be angry in. (That anger is critical to their progress.)
So, while you seem like a nice enough girl, you haven't been overly hostile, and you draw pretty, I simply can't help but experience your rather knee-jerk criticism in the context of the endless stream of busybodies we deal with every day.
Yeah, I see. My view is that everything has the right to exist, but also people can say whatever they want about it.
Obviously tho, there are always extremists and neanderthals who will resort to attacking people, and sending death threats in spaces not designated for them, which is a whole other animal. I am sorry you have to deal with that.
[–]Whisper2 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Fair enough. I wouldn't silence anyone even if I could. That's not how I roll.
But male anger is often inappropriately suppressed, and part of my job is to prevent that where I can... not only because that anger is "fair" or "understandable", but also because that anger is important and necessary.
People consider anger to be a "negative" emotion because it feels bad, and often makes you say or do things that make others feel bad, too. But it has a critical purpose... to make you avoid a repetition of what made you mad.
For example, if you hadn't had the capacity to be angry, instead of just sad, about your partner's infidelity, you wouldn't have had the impetus to end the relationship and find something that worked for you.
I definitely agree. I think emotions themselves aren't "good" or "bad", they are amoral, and it's about whether we choose to channel them in a healthy way or not. Sadness can be positive cause it might help you with introspection, fear can be good cause it protects you from danger, anger can be good cause it pushes you to take action and change things.
I think society, in general, tends to suppress emotions, particularly the more "negative" ones, but I do agree that male anger is probably the most stigmatized and frowned upon phenomenon because it has the potential to be aggressive or destructive. Female anger is also seen as "bad" (although probably less threatening) because women are sort of expected to be pleasant to be around and kind all the time, at least where I'm from, I can't speak for all cultures.
I definitely agree. I think emotions themselves aren't "good" or "bad", they are amoral, and it's about whether we choose to channel them in a healthy way or not.
You have this fortuitous way of setting up my next point.
One of the reasons that I worked to set TRP up the way it is, was to leverage male anger in a way that has positive outcomes for them. Generally, when guys first wash up on the beaches of TRP, they are pretty pissed off and frustrated. They've done everything that they were told was what they were supposed to do, they got exactly the opposite of what it was supposed to get them, and when they expressed any objection to this, they were told "nobody owes you love".
Of course, they never believed anyone did. They were simply upset about the fact that they had been given instructions for finding it which were completely and deliberately wrong.
First-world western cultural messages about how males should court are intended to flatter the female ego, rather than help the male who carries them out. The reason for this is that good advice would be profoundly sexist (which there is no way around because nature is sexist) and we as a culture now perceive sexism as harm to women, regardless of whether it actually has any demonstrable negative outcome for women or not.
This is where what you said about "channeling" emotions comes in. But it's not about channeling them in a "healthy" way, because what does that even mean? It's about channeling them in a productive way, in a way that motivates actions, which the sort of responses from the environment which dispel the source of that anger.
So, as someone who taken on the job of solving these problems, I have to do two things: I have to fuel, stoke, and legitimize that anger (misogyny), and I have to give it an action plan which actually works (sexism).
Female anger is also seen as "bad" (although probably less threatening) because women are sort of expected to be pleasant to be around and kind all the time, at least where I'm from
Where's that?
As we touched on before, sexist cultural attitudes are often rooted in sound advice, because they come from effective ways to deal with and use nature's inherent sexism.
Yeah, I can see how plenty of guys nowadays would end up feeling that way. I think the good thing about more progressive societies is that everyone pretty much has equal rights, which is a good thing. On the other hand, there has been a lot of "gender neutralizing" mainly caused by 3rd wave feminism, which made men and women sort of believe that both sexes are attracted to the same things which is obviously not true.
Humans are a sexually dimorphic species and we are neurologically wired to be attracted to different things. Even if we live in artificial enviroments and we technically don't "need" to follow our biological proclivities to survive, we still can't rewire our brains to be attracted to something we're not.
So yeah I can see how all of that frustration ends up falling on the shoulders of men, being told that they just have to keep going at it, yet never being given clear instructions, or at least the ones that work.
I am curious though. How do you define misogyny and sexism? Because there are tons of different definitions out there depending on who you ask. Misogyny implies hate for women, do you think this should be something reserved for the anger phase or do you think men should operate based on these feelings in general?
Slovenia. Probably one of the most "westernized" Slavic countries due to it's geographic position.
I am curious though. How do you define misogyny and sexism?
I generally don't.
Mostly, these descriptions are leveled at me by people who don't like what I write.
In TRP, I teach men how not to submit to someone else's frame (a word which we use to roughly mean control of the subject, context, and assumptions of the conversation).
If a woman calls a man a "misogynist", she is more likely to subsequently mate with him (or at least respect him and approve of him), if his response is "... And?", instead of "no, because reasons". That's because women generally mental strength and self-confidence a lot more in men than they value politeness and consideration.
It's not so much about me thinking I am or am not... I simply don't care. I don't think about the world in those terms, any more than I worry about whether or not Torquemada would have considered me a "heretic". It simply isn't relevant to me, and I don't care what Torquemada thinks, because his ideas are based upon absurd assumptions like "the universe is run by an invisible wizard", and "you should let a celibate octogenarian tell you what to do with your penis".
Similarly, if someone thinks "men and women are equal", when no one can even explain what the fuck that is supposed to mean, then I don't really care about what they think when I write this, because it isn't intended to please them, and I don't need them to be pleased.
My writing is intended to un-mislead men who have suffered from being misled, not make neoMarxists think I'm nice guy. So, "Happy Misogynist" really means "I don't care if your snarl word applies to me or not".
Oh.
I know absolutely nothing about Slovenia. What's it like?
Yeah, I'd say that's fair. Language in itself is highly interpretable, and I really do feel like "misogyny" is being thrown around everywhere on the internet nowadays to the point where it completely lost its meaning and its severity.
Similarly, if someone thinks "men and women are equal", when no one can even explain what the fuck that is supposed to mean, then I don't really care about what they think when I write this , because it isn't intended to please them, and I don't need them to be pleased.
Equality is very hard to apply to any sort of gender discussion because I feel like equality is hard to define when we are talking about things that are inherently different. I mean are apples and oranges equal? No, but they have some equal properties because they're both fruit, so we can only discuss the equality between their properties alone.
Men and women are optimized for different things, so naturally, both men and women will have a different set of advantages and disadvantages, equality will vary from situation to situation. I personally am attracted to men who exhibit masculine traits but I think both men and women aren't 100% masculine or feminine, and their needs will vary. I am cool with being submissive in a relationship and my man taking the lead but I feel like men who are too masculine would suffocate me because I personally am a fairly ambitious woman and I have a lot of things I am interested in learning. On the other hand, I am cool with men and women who do like very traditional roles, or those who don't want them at all, at least I think it's kind of good that people nowadays can choose.
It's pretty okay ( Or well, it was, before this whole covid shabang :p). It's good for skiing, lotsa mountains, the Alpic region is really pretty. People are mostly chill, although we have our own type of extremists as well. Where you from?

Ya, I feel ya. The metaphor I like to use is "Are food and water equal?". You can't even talk about which is more important, because both are absolutely important... without either one you're gonna die. And neither is a substitute for the other.
I think the whole "equality" thing comes from "we hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal". But what this was intended to mean was that titles of nobility are granted by human society, not created by god or otherwise inherent in a person.
Then, the same society that came up with that one decided that people should be "equal before the law". But that also has a defined meaning. Means we don't want the law to play favorites. Means we want cases, criminal or civil, judged on their merits and circumstances, not the identity of their participants.
Those both make sense, but, having used that term twice, we created a precedent of it standing in for some general sense of fairness, which is just too vague.
Especially with men and women... because we have different needs. If you were to treat me like you like to be treated, I would most likely find it very demeaning, and if I were to treat you like I like to be treated, you would most likely find it very demanding.

One of main conclusions I've come to over the years of this stuff is that women are inherently submissive (as I say in the article), and don't really mind someone being in charge of them... but it can't be just anyone. Being submissive doesn't mean you simply roll over and take no mind of your own well being.
A woman has to be able to trust both a man's intentions (will he take care of you?) and his competence (can he take care of you?). Otherwise, there's going to be a lot more boundaries until she decides she can trust him, or she'll just eject when she decides she can't.
Worrying that your ambitions, for example, will be stifled, is one form that reserve might take.
On the other hand, I am cool with men and women who do like very traditional roles, or those who don't want them at all, at least I think it's kind of good that people nowadays can choose.
While no one except Cotton Mather and Simone de Beauvoir want to force anyone to do anything in this respect, the fact is that, just like with your young guys turning into angry snake-men because they've been given bad advice, young women can be harmed by bad signals, too. And we don't necessarily have the choice to say nothing, because people talk about these things.
So the way I do things is to talk about what is, and not what "should" be.
It's pretty okay ( Or well, it was, before this whole covid shabang :p). It's good for skiing, lotsa mountains, the Alpic region is really pretty.
I've never been. But from the pictures, it seems pretty. Especially if you like castles.

Like most of the people here, I'm an American. Grew up urban, moved rural once my career was advanced enough that I had more choice. Engineering jobs kinda keep you in certain metropolitan areas until you have enough leverage to get remote work. Coronavirus helps push that, though.
I take it the art's not a professional gig for you?

Yes, I think it's good that we have equal rights now, but denying that men and women are biologically different is not doing either gender any favors.
This is also true, trust is something that builds up slowly in a relationship, and it's very hard for a woman to submit unless she trusts a man. Attraction takes time for women.

True, good advice is definitely lacking, the feminist discourse does seem to be pushed into the forefront, especially on the internet and western media. If a woman wants to be promiscuous, I don't really think there's anything "wrong" with that, but I don't think most women genuinely want that lifestyle. There are men and women who are atypical for their gender, it is technically possible for a woman to have more masculine character traits and a brain that is closer to that of a man but I'd say that's maybe 5-10% of women at best. So most women probably wouldn't benefit from the feminist narrative.

Oh, that's nice, glad you managed to move rural, been thinking of it myself at some point.
Yea, I do video editing for a living, art is more of a side thing.

Define “way less” because women marrying men in terms of height is a bellcurve.

And 40% of wouldn't mind that you make less. So for every 10 women, 4 of them don't mind marrying a man with less money.

I like how the guy is dehumanized by having sharp teeth, a vertical slit pupils and has a more aggressive red color than the angelic woman whose mere presence almost causes hearts to spontaneously materialize into existence... despite women being the ones with sexual leverage over men and the ones who, in all essence, practice eugenics.
Women arent right, they are just stronger.
Also, it is interesting how our supposed "enlightened" state is used to justify women having sexual leverage over men because after all "women are civilized and men are brutes" (but lets ignore the sexual leverage part tho)
