Women who ask for this don't want to be topless in public everywhere. You won't see topless women walking down 6th ave in NYC. They want it to be okay to be topless wherever men can be, ie the pool or beach. I get my tits out at the beach. No shame.

I think part of the point they're making is why is it ok for me to show basically everything except my nipple? Why is the female nipple so stigmatized (or overly sexualized) that you can have a canyon of cleavage but god forbid you let a nip slip.

On a serious note though, I think topless equality would help - maybe not necessarily solve anything but normalise and de-stigmatise exposed female breasts a bit more. Women are already able to go around topless in situations where men are typically topless in a lot of European countries (and others outside of Europe I don't know specifically) and yeah, when you're in such a culture it takes away the "holy shit lady bits" reaction upon seeing them almost immediately. It just becomes a biological feature of the female body. Nothing sexual, no indications about the woman who has them.

Honestly the process of normalisation (in order to counteract socialised attitudes) is lightening fast, no matter what societal aspect it is applied to. You feel the preconceptions/misconceptions fall away like dead skin and you think "huh, why the fuck is this such a big deal?"

The female chest has sexual organs on it. That's why a man touching a women's chest is sexual assault. As it should be.

Topless equality would mean I could go up to a women, touch her chest and it would be fine.

You want to declare men and women's chests the same, then you have declare boobs a non-sexual organ. Its real fucking simple.

I think our problem in the west...is we are hypersexualized yet everything is hidden. Like you see hypersexualized grinding...dancing...'twerking' ...very revealing clothes, like almost to the point of being naked...but not quite there. We have a lot to learn from Europe.
