“Application requirements”. Ugh. She’s also probably one of those women who use “______ to the front of the line”.

[–]hamburger12199 476 points477 points478 points 5 years ago (142 children) | Copy Link

I'm wondering what motivates a person to express their requirement in such a manner? Either it was a sort of icebreaker joke or she's just a shithead.

[–]IoSonCalaf 439 points440 points441 points 5 years ago (84 children) | Copy Link

Its usually a result of them overestimating their worth. Internet and app dating gives the illusion of abundance of choice. It makes them think they’re the prize.

[–]Batnoir33 109 points110 points111 points 5 years ago (69 children) | Copy Link

Little do they know that goes both ways

[–][deleted] 214 points215 points216 points 5 years ago (66 children) | Copy Link

Women in real life suck at flirting and if the tables were ever reversed 99.9% of them would be single. They are really bad at it and bomb hard.

[–]sadboykvlt 153 points154 points155 points 5 years ago (32 children) | Copy Link

1000 % agree. Recently single and hopped back on some dating sites, my god do most girls suck at holding a conversation. Even if they message me first they're usually bad at just talking and expect you to carry the entire conversation.

[–]xdylanthehumanx 34 points35 points36 points 5 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

How do you respond to 'Lol'

[–]Generation-X-Cellent 27 points28 points29 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Put your dick in their mouth.

[–]xdylanthehumanx 11 points12 points13 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The real power move

[–]Avante_grande 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This one got me off-guard

[–]UncleTogie 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This one got me off-guard

Maybe, but I bet it was the last time you said 'lol' during that conversation...

[–]high_on_ducks 10 points11 points12 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

"lol" from anyone means one of these things:

"I want you to know that this text is in no way serious"

"I've to show you that I'm listening even if I may not be THAT interested"

"This is a potentially offensive text so to make sure that it doesn't go the wrong way, let me slap a lol on it somewhere"

"I really don't know what else to say"

"I've to make myself appear as if I don't care too much about whatever is going on"

If you have more from your experiences, feel free to add. lol.

[–]toplesscheerleader 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

But what about tagging a LOL on everything. At the beginning and end of sentences sometimes even in between. Could you decode that for me

[–]KeredNomrah 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

For me it means I’m over thinking the text, going back and forth trying to convey how funny and into the conversation I am.

Then you hit send quickly because your nervous and paranoid you’re overthinking it just to realize you lol’d way to many times. Then the embarrassment sets in and you hide in a corner peaking out waiting for a response.

Rinse/repeat

[–]toplesscheerleader1 point 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Dam that’s tough. Just know that the only thing the person on the other end will do is ask online if it’s normal.

[–]dethmaul1 point 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Yeah my dumbass has sent one or two lol sandwiches.

What you said about thinking too hard makes sense to me.

[–]high_on_ducks 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is done by people who think 'lol' is a space-filler. In their dictionary 'lol' is actually a full word, not just an acronym for "laugh out loud". They pronounce it as 'lol' instead of 'l-o-l' (spelling out each letter)

E.g: Lol i just had cereal lol. it was so soggy lol. Lol I hate cereal with milk lolllll. Lol soggy cereal is the most unappealing thing lol. Lol, what did you do this morning lol??

[–]Thorbinator 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The hail mary into a conversation in person

"I'm going to be at <local bar> at 8pm saturday."

[–]xdylanthehumanx 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I like that a lot.

[–]rrleo 23 points24 points25 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Usually, I quit talking to them altogether because it's like they don't contribute anything at all. It feels not worth it to be the only one holding the conversation.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah. If an lol is the best response they have, they are probably not worth the cost of a coffee.

[–]jonjonesjohnson 8 points9 points10 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Even if they message me first

My last 4 matches on bumble didn't message me before the 24h was up.

Also, i've seen a profile that straight up told you that, should the two of you match, she was just gonna say hi and then you should ask her about this and that...

That was a hard left from me...

[–]viperex 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How full of yourself do you have to be to bring your own conversation starters you want to be asked

[–]13083 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How tf am I supposed to respond to

Yeah

Lol

Haha

Wtf🤣🤣

Gotcha

Yeppers

And "😂"

[–]Privileged_White_Kid 19 points20 points21 points 5 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Lol it's literally not just girls. I'm bi and guys do the same shit. People are fickle and lose interest fast

[–]sadboykvlt 61 points62 points63 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Gonna go out on limb and say for the most part it's not loss of interest, it's just unwillingness to put any effort in. I've had it happen quite a few times where after I get tired of trying to carry a conversation and stop replying to the girl's 1 word answers and she'll message me again out of the blue but it's just more of the same

[–]Archlinder1 points 5 years ago [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link

The only one's that hold any decent amount of convo are the scam artists on there lol

[–]qcon99 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

And that’s because they have something to get from you out of it lol

[–]anoxy 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Or the brand new ones. Which have actually turned out to be my last two relationships.

[–]Shelton26 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I never have that problem talking to dudes normally, but even just trying to have a normal conversation with a girl it’s like the feel they don’t have to contribute anything and just respond without putting forth anything meaningful

[–]Danichiban 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It’s just reflects how people are using internet in general too. Instant gratification for instant selection. Dissociating human social interaction and you end up as a self-absorded, poor communicator and alone. So yeah...go outside and meet people even it isn’t the best moment.

[–]RoscoMan1 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lol I don’t owe anything to them.

[–]4609203 -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You've completely lost my attention.

[–]Privileged_White_Kid 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I mean..... Ok?

[–]p00p00p33p33_1 points 5 years ago* [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

It’s definitely a synergy thing then. I think it’s pretty ridiculous to act like it’s the girl’s fault for not being able to hold a conversation or for not being as invested in the first place. Most of the time it’s a problem on the side of the guy complaining in the first place.

[–]sadboykvlt 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You just ignored pretty much the entirety of my post to cherry pick your own conclusion. You outed yourself as a massive loser/simp with that last line and also, I'd call into question the caliber of any woman who would voluntarily spend time with you.

[–]aliterati 31 points32 points33 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

There is a video where this guy had his female friend pose as him on Tinder, and see how she fared.

And she did absolutely horribly, and hated it. By the end of it, she started to feel insecure about herself and her personality. Which is what guys deal with on the daily, but no one really cares.

[–]bearflies1 points 5 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

no one really cares.

People do care! But it's mostly men, and men are rarely vocal about mental health.

My advice for every guy who is struggling with self-esteem is to get the hell off Tinder/Dating apps and focus on meeting people IRL. Women have such a giant pool of eager and attentive men to choose from on Tinder that you feel like a product on a shelf and it's terrible for your mental health.

[–]Generation-X-Cellent 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I use tinder for shopping. It's the women that are on the shelf. You just have to be direct with them.

[–]NordsHairyTesticle 15 points16 points17 points 5 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Women suck at trying to initiate flirting because they aren’t used to doing it. They aren’t required to come up with anything creative or funny to break the ice with because it’s socially suggestion that’s men are the pursuers. A lot of women can banter with you once you get the ball rolling but if you were to create a Sadie Hawkins scenario in a bar where only women can approach men, they would have to learn through trial and error as men have over the course of their lives. Genetically, woman have always had the sexual selection power in their hands, so it’s been incumbent on men to make the first move that will best impress them. Whether an individual woman deserves to have all of that effort throw at her is based on many factors, personality being a major one, but unfortunately we gents have a hard time not initially prioritizing physical attractiveness because of how it makes us feel in our trousers.

[–]yodarded 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Physical attraction isn't more important than personality. It just happens to be a trait that can be sized up instantly.

[–]NordsHairyTesticle 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Tell that to all the men who stick their dicks in crazy and continue to do so even as their lives are starting to fall apart around them as a result. I'm not implying that it should be more important or that all men have a hard time distinguishing between the two, but adjusting for IQ averages in human in general, there are likely more men who fall victim to the will of the penis rather than good sense.

[–]yodarded 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

some men don't think they deserve more, and others (ahem) keep thinking that they've got a diamond in the rough and spend years realizing that holy shit, she's really broken.

[–]dethmaul 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Pussy's a hell of a drug. And you know what drugs can do to your life.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Are you saying its genetic that women suck at flirting, or its genetic because they are female and thus control the majority of the reproductive process?

[–]NordsHairyTesticle 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm implying that since they hold the power over whether or not a man can pass on his genetic material, then men had to develop the social skills to break the ice if they wanted to be able to reproduce.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ah, I agree with you fully now.

[+]lsaz1 points 5 years ago* [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

Lol dont kid yourself. A lot of men wouldn't care if a woman isn't good at filtering, they are so busy being alone and getting no attention from women that they couldn't care less as long as she's actually showing interest.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's why I said if the roles were reversed.

[–]BentPan3 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Haha yeah preying on insecure people is easy + fun - don’t overthink it! Don’t try to be better! Not sure what you are trying to accomplish thinking this condescending bullshit could help someone.

[+]BossRedRanger -8 points-7 points-6 points 5 years ago* (7 children) | Copy Link

That’s not my experience.

edit let me earn the downvoted then. When you groom yourself, look and smell decent, and use manners, women tend to at least be cordial. Only incels would think all women act as described above.

Most women love to flirt. They enjoy being mentally stimulated while cultivating an attraction. What antisocial weirdos think women can’t flirt?

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Have your girl try and come up and pick you up at a bar sometime and be like a rude chick, she will bomb so hard

[–]BossRedRanger -5 points-4 points-3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Women suck at approaching men because society tells them never to do it. But flirting? They’re great at that.

[–]SphincteralAperture 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That hasn't been my experience at all.

[–]Conrexxthor 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Same. My boyfriend loved the shitty puns I told him when we first starting talking on OKCupid.

My name is Snow, and coincidentally his nickname is Earth because he moved to the States from Thailand when he was 2 and no one could pronounce his name, so I hit him up with "Is it winter? Because Snow is going on the Earth"

Died of shame, but he loved it so it worked out

[–]Stizur 9 points10 points11 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

jesus that's terrible lmao

[–]yeotajmu 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Should have said is it winter? Because Snow is coming

[–]Conrexxthor 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's a little late for that now lol I'll tell him that when he picks me up tomorrow tho

[+]Enzonoty -8 points-7 points-6 points 5 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

That’s soooo not true. It’s just hard to flirt on a messaging app when you’ve never even met face to face. If you wanna flirt add the girl on Snapchat and out in a little effort. Start with a selfie or start off by sending a funny picture to get them to know yourself and kick it off from there. Try to build a genuine connection. There’s a lot more entertainment from Snapchat and if you stop talking you can always spark your a conversation with something random. The thing with tinder is once you get more matches and don’t forget about them you can get lost in the sea of matches. At least when you add a girl on Snapchat you show your insterwsted and have another better form of communication.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm talking about flirting in person

[–]CosmicTaco93 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You're seriously going with snapchat as being the holy grail of online flirting? The snapchat community is about as toxic and shitty as Twitter. That's not a real connection, like at all. I guess it works for kids or those just trying to hook up. But for actual dating? I'd call that a red flag.

[–]Jones2182 -2 points-1 points0 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Snapchat? If you’re using that you’re not old enough to fuck.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Uhhhh 99% of the women I fuck use snapchat what are you talking about

[–]karmagod13000 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

this is sadly the truth. i mean the only reason i had the app was because of a gf from like 6 years ago

[–]ColeMiss -4 points-3 points-2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree with all this. Also really good point on getting lost in the sea of matches. Personally I have way too many matches, like 300+, so every new match feels like a chore for me to message. So I rarely put in the effort that it takes, or the one time that I do it’s because I’m going for that 10/10 and then probably she is doing the same thing where responding to my message is a chore in a sea of her messages.

[–]A_Birde 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No generally it doesn't

[–]General_GTFO 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It literally doesn't though. Guys do not get the same abundance of choice.

[–]Willing_Function 11 points12 points13 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's such a twisted view of dating though. I'm trying to find a friend in you so we can hang out, touch parts and maybe have a future together. If you treat it as a business transaction I'll just get a hooker.

And if it's to just fuck, who fucking cares you either find me attractive or not.

[–]Dizzycactus2 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That basically summarises the issue with PUA. If you have to do all that mind-trick stuff, it's not worth it, because it defeats the purpose

Is it really an illusion? Granted you have the looks, 18 to 29 is when they'll be their youngest, most beautiful, and fertile.

For guys, if decent looking and you graduated, have money, and a career, 30 to 60 is where you'll do well. Men have 0 anything to offer at 18 unless they're just hot.

The way men probably treat them at 18. Doesn't that actually make them the prize? Have you seen how full their inbox gets? How is it not abundant? Guys will fly to their state or country.

[–]MishMiassh 27 points28 points29 points 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

They overestimate their worth as relationship material because they conflate men's desire to fuck with men's desire to be in a relationship.
Some men will even fake being in relationships to get laid.
It's easy to understand why they would make the mistake though.
You can even tell a girl that a guy is just interested in fucking, and she might only believe you one year later when she gets dumped.
And even then they won't admit to it, because that would mean they have to admit not being relationship material, and just pump and dump chum guys go through.

[–]Jones2182 9 points10 points11 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You’d think they had figured out the old pump-and-dump by now.

[–]ChestBras1 points 5 years ago* [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

They know about it, they've heard about it, but "it happens to other women, not me, me I'm relationship material, I just ended up with an asshole who fucked up the relationship and when he saw I was a strong women he got scared and ran away".

It's called rationalization.
Nobody wants to be the pumped and dumped.

[–]Dizzycactus2 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

IME it's largely because they deliberately go for the guys who are most likely to do that. My dad is an ex-chad with a newspaper article on his wall about how he beat up like 3 policemen while they chased him across town in a stolen car and then across fields on foot; still did much better than me on dating sites lol. I don't care anymore because I got married, but yeah, I'm not under any illusions as to what is deemed desirable in general, and it's not what we're told to be by society

[–]Snorklesnake 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The old pump and dump summarized for ya

[–]Rabano11 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You can be a hot girl, have no personality and never find out the truth about yourself. I don’t want to talk to you or entertain like a clown! So she’ll just go through life thinking men are scumbags because we go MIS after one, two or three times and she has nothing to go on but the lies we’ve told them. But in the other hand : it’s also stunning how little self awareness they have, after a while you can see a common denominator lol

[–]darrrd 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Absolutely spot on. The amount of girls I would date is much less than the ones I’d get in a relationship with

[–]IoSonCalaf 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good point. There are many facets to this issue.

[–]Rabano11 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly. Funny story: my girl wants to date other women and I’m cool with it but she’s literally losing her mind with these dry ass bitches. She has the most amazing looking matches. She doesn’t know I can also log onto her Tinder and it’s so funny: hey, hey, so what’s up, nm... lmaooo. I’ve had so many convo’s with the women where they literally think the convo is flowing ‘naturally’, no dummy, I’m asking questions, being funny and I’m planning ahead, you’re doing nothing but responding to what you see.. poorly

[–]ok_ill_shut_up -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not sure it's an illusion, mate.

[–]noogiey 29 points30 points31 points 5 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

Media and higher education both pump this fantasy version of whats feminine into womens' minds. This doubles with the fact that females in most mammal species are the ones who judge and choose their mates.

Honest answer..... it’s Bumble and from my exercise most women who’ve messaged me aren’t good with opening lines. My theory is it’s because openers is a skill they normally don’t have to practice for.

[–]Dizzycactus2 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What I don't get is why the opening line skill matters. If anything it's the opposite, I'm more likely to believe someone who isn't Mr/Mrs Suave is down to Earth and relatable

[–]peanutski 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don’t know. I’ve come across a lot dating profiles where women have “don’t just say hi” or some iteration. I doubt guys have that on Bumble

[–]Erethiel117 13 points14 points15 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It’s the pussy pass bro. She’s thinks that shit don’t stink like the rest of her.

[–]NakedNecromancer 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thats because market is oversaturated. Guys are too easy to score and she most likely has 100+ other guys matched who don't care about her requirements. I'm not even surprised, if I get hundreds of people who are into me might as well prefer what suits me most, no hate.

[–]riskyClick420 9 points10 points11 points 5 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

she's just a shithead

shithead with internet/pop-media inflated ego

there's a decent chance she thinks that's an attractive way to be as well, the same way nice guys think that you must literally be rude and a jerk to attract women.

[–]IoSonCalaf -2 points-1 points0 points 5 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

I’m not disagreeing with you. But women do tend to be attracted to men who treat them badly.

[–]KingArthur668 -3 points-2 points-1 points 5 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

You have some kind of statistics/proof for that or are you stating this from personal experience?

[–]OneOldShoe1 points 5 years ago* [recovered] (9 children) | Copy Link

The person above you isn’t wrong. Most women prefer to be treated like shit. Treat them well and they’ll go elsewhere

[–]arrozconfrijol 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It’s funny because as a woman, who’s been on a lot of online dates and has many guy friends, I got the impression that men were the ones who like to be treated like shit.

The truth is we’re much more similar than we like to think, and there’s equal amounts of assholes and emotional masochists in both sexes.

[–]KingArthur668 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]KingArthur668 -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

What a sad statement man, so you are literally saying all woman are prone to guys who physically and/or mentally abuse them?

[–]OneOldShoe1 points 5 years ago* [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

I literally said "most" women, not "all".

[–]KingArthur668 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

My mistake... define most though, because 99% could be most in your books and that ain't far from 100%. Still a very sexist, insane statement imo, but you're allowed to have your opinion of course.

[–]riskyClick420 -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well in my experience, the nice guys watching from the sideline think the women are being treated badly, when in reality they are just treated normally, not put on a pedestal. Being treated normally includes spending time separately, being the butt of jokes sometimes, being treated with anger when it's normal (scenario where nice guy witnesses a couple that had/has a disagreement), etc. But the nice guy's all wrapped in his princess complex so when he sees another angry dude yelling at his girlfriend, he scoffs to himself:

I would never speak to m'lady like that

I'm not discounting the tiny minority that actively chase abusive men, which definitely exists, but in no way is that reflective of women in general, the way you put it.

[–]ArnolduAkbar 11 points12 points13 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because girls own the market. People need to accept we're not equal. How does anyone act when they are confident they have more options? Not defending their actions but I guess I'd imagine it's like getting 10000 applications and being like just separate the ones that went to Harvard. We only need like 3 anyway. 1 guaranteed and 2 backups.

[–]Generation-X-Cellent 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]48LawsOfFlour 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Remember that in the dating market, she sees guys. She wants the guys who have lots of women lined up so she signals that she has lots of men lined up. She doesn't understand it's a negative signal because she doesn't understand the differences between men and women.

[–]E4TclenTrenHardr -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It was almost certainly a joke/icebreaker. Y'all are up in arms over nothing.

[–]stopbeingsodangwrong -4 points-3 points-2 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Y'all are making such a big deal about this but it's obviously an icebreaker joke. This is the kinda humor that doesn't translate well via text. Girls get so much hate for being into tall guys on reddit, and they should when they are dicks about it. But in this case she's literally just saying TO YOU she's attracted to you because of your height, not disparaging someone else for being too short.

I think OP is the asshole in this situation, and it might be the woman that dodged the bullet.

Also this whole thread generalizing women as being "bad at flirting" or "not knowing it goes both ways" is fucking stupid.

[+]Crumb_Rumbler -6 points-5 points-4 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]arrozconfrijol -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm a 6ft brown guy and whenever a brown girl shows/expresses romantic interest, she still thinks she has a chance after telling her I'm not interested.

Over time I've come to find out that they only persist after being rejected because "I'm the first tall decently looking guy" they've come across which tells me all I need to know.

Bearing in mind some of these girls are short af, ranging anywhere from 4ft to 5.5 so its not like they're taller than most guys but rather they want someone whose over almost a foot taller than them for some reason.

[–]eauxneauxnaughtagain 23 points24 points25 points 5 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

Doggystyle. That's the reason.

[–]NoW3rds 38 points39 points40 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

That doesn't make any sense. Doggy style actually works when your legs are relatively the same length. If you're both on your knees, and I'm a foot taller than you, I literally have to pull you up to me.

If you're within a few inches of height, then you line up.

And it's not just crazies either, like in this post. I firmly believe if you are below 6'0 (maybe 5'11 is "allowed") you are just a lot less attractive to a lot of girls.

[–]AmAttorneyPleaseHire 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]BenGrowinGreens 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women want to feel safe/protected and we have literally nothing left of our true evolutionary imperatives. I think the height thing is some random leakage of biological needs that has reached a level of nonsense absurdity. Its also an indicator of 'alphaness' albeit an extremely crude and flawed indicator but women don't seem to think so.

[–]youlovejoeDesign 9 points10 points11 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"well I'm sorry, your obesity can't keep me hard." I've seen some rhinos and they are entitled.

[–]AFlyingNun 9 points10 points11 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Same, I'm 6'0"-6'1" (honestly dunno which and dun give a fuck, I seem perfectly between so my friggin' shoe soles are probably changing it) and I really hate seeing all the shorties get denied any romantic options based solely on height. It's really really shit.

To be fair, I've known multiple women who will admit to not being attracted to shorter men, but then also feel incredibly guilty about it. Thing is, they cannot force attraction, and they shouldn't. It's just an incredibly tragic biological attraction thing that honestly carries no weight in today's society (I always here "so he can protect me" as if a short dude can't be swole; Bruce Lee was 5'8" ijs. Hell nvm that, why the HELL is this a top priority? How many times a day you being attacked that this is a top priority...?) and it is what it is.

The women that are shameless about their distaste for short guys though....? Fuck 'em, what a bunch of cunts.

I didn't know people put effort into being short.

[–]ILikeSugarCookies 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Weight is within a person’s control.

Being short says nothing about you other than that your genetics dictated that you be short.

Being overweight can say a lot of things. Generally that you lack self control, you’re lazy, and at the absolute minimum - you do not care about your health.

Those things are way more revealing about a person than height could ever be.

Everyone is allowed to have whatever standards they want, but some standards are obviously distasteful for various reasons. Like "[insert ethnicity here] only". Or if your standard is underage people and you're an adult. Or pointlessly ableist standards. Or "blonde hair and blue eyes only".

That being said, I’ve only once ever dated someone taller than me, she was great it didn’t work out for other reasons

[–]Effectx 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because not every girl is going to make a big deal about 5'9", but the shorter you are the more you're going to notice it.

[–]Mister_Crowly 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Maybe the people who talk about height as a requirement for dating, both those who are for and rabidly against it, are louder than average. Or it could be a matter of self-selecting of the kinds of people one hangs around. As someone who has been a fairly sociable nerd my whole life, I don't have the means or motive to hang around Mean Girls or incels.

But yeah, you have a point and it is a little curious.

[–]I_did_not_say_dat 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It’s weird I’m 5’9” and never felt my height was an issue with girls yet it seems to be a common theme online.

That's because most girls will NOT notice the difference between a 5'9 dude and a 6' dude. They're probably 5'4 themselves and wouldn't be able to tell from down there lol.

5'9 is still more than average, I believe. Try being under the average height and you'll notice that you'll experience a lot of issues online dating.

source: I'm a 5'4 dude. :D

Weigh can be changed instead ask their breast size that will actually make them mad (even then it is possible to have bigger breast unlike height)

[–]Mouette_man 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah but I'll look like a pervert if I only like big breasts girl but if I ask their weight I'm just an asshole (and I'm fine with that x) )

Feel like this is a good spot to express/vent my latest dating frustration:

In the early stages of quarantine, met a super cool girl on tinder. We hit it off instantly, got along great, had all of the same interests. After a while of texting, we progressed to FaceTiming (as we were both cautious of socializing due to the virus), having pretty personal convos, getting to know each other real well, talking about all the things we want to do together, etc

We finally met up after a couple months when restrictions were lifted and cases in our area were way down. Met at a park for a walk, I brought my dog.

When she pulled into the parking lot and got out of her car, she was IMMEDIATELY acting dismissive and unengaged, which was a complete and sudden 180° turn from our countless FaceTimes and such. After an unexpectedly awkward date, I texted her and asked what her thoughts on our date were.

She said she expected me to be taller and she didn’t want to see me again. For the record, I’m 5’8 and she’s like 5’3 lol. First of all — if it was that important, maybe you should’ve asked how tall I was before you started telling me you wanted to be exclusive based off of our clear personal compatibility and my ~striking~ handsomeness via FaceTime? Would’ve saved us both a few months of our lives. Second of all, my bad for only being 5” taller and average height for an adult male. Guess that makes me less of a person, both by volume and by worth!

[–]Mouette_man 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well it's that kind of person I'm complaining about, them and people who insult/mock guys less than 6"

[–]codemonkey69 -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

[–]MusenUse_KC21 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There's nothing wrong with being into a certain look, but when you have a list of requirements like you are trying to build a Sims character for a romantic partner, it will drive people away. And for good reason.

[–]Tricera-clops 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Cause it tells you how superficial she is. Won’t even entertain the idea of a subjectively “short” person talking to them. Almost worst when they put a hard number. “Must be 6’” - so you’re saying if the perfect match for your personality was 5’11” you want them to just move along?

[–]I_did_not_say_dat 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because while you could appreciate her having specific tastes, you might object to her phrasing this in such an assholish way. It could mean that she is... well... an asshole.

[–]Dizzycactus2 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There's two types of traits: interchangeable ones, then "tiered" ones. Something like skin colour is just a preference because one isn't considered better than the other in general. Something like height that's considered universally attractive isn't just an arbitrary preference, it's kinda like a guy saying "must be hotter than 90% of other women" - it's just high standards, and therefore suggests an inflated own sense of worth

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So you can like someone based on skin but not height

[–]Eshneh -3 points-2 points-1 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

[–]spectre89 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You don’t need anyone to stand up for you. If anything your height is doing you a favor by filtering out these vapid cunts.

Don’t fall into the trap of saying things are easier for taller, better looking, richer people. It isn’t.

[–]ThePlanetFinder 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But, they are doe

[–]sadboykvlt 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

there are proven studies that business people who are considered more conventionally attractive than their peers tend to be promoted over their less attractive counterparts, even given similar work performance. So yeah, good looking people do have it easier in a number of different regards, and to say otherwise is disingenuous.

[–]PuWahWah91 points 5 years ago* [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah that’s true. I have a feeling you’re that redditor that just likes to argue about everything, but I’ll try and have a reasonable conversation with you anyway.

But correlation doesn’t equal causation. Maybe it’s the confidence that comes with being good looking that leads to promotion.

Being someone with a lot of experience in this area, I can tell you there’s nothing less appealing in a candidate than a victim complex. Obviously there’s something to bring good looking, but there’s a lot more to doing the best with what you got.

“I need to be stood up for” is a horrible attitude. And as is an ugly duckling, I can tell you it becomes increasingly hard to filter out vapid cunts from the dating pool as you get better looking and more successful. My dating life used to be very stable and pleasant, now it just gets wasted 4-6 months at a time be horrible women. It takes that long to start picking up on weird behavior. .Honestly I’d say that not being this way would lead to a more productive result.

[–]sadboykvlt 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

well I do appreciate the civil reply. My comment was intended in a broader sense that better looking/more desirable people have a number of benefits afforded to them, not that shorter/less attractive people need to be stood up for.

If someone were to try to "stand up" for me on the basis that others don't find me attractive, I would probably take it as patronizing and not receive the gesture very well. At the end of the day, I understand I'm not the smartest/funniest/best looking person out there but I'm still pretty content with myself.

[–]youlovejoeDesign 13 points14 points15 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, having a single care in the world about your boyfriends appearance instantly makes you a slut. Or at least that's what most of reddit seems to believe. Meanwhile they themselves wouldnt go for any girl under 8/10, instead they find it weird when attractive, young, athletic women go for attractive, young, athletic men.

[–]BreweryBuddha 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Hey, you're kinda tall! That's good, I like taller guys.

Get the fuck out of here. Pussy pass denied.

[–]RoomFullOfLips -5 points-4 points-3 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Why do I have to sort by controversial to feel sane lol. Having physical standards does not make you shallow

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

There’s a way to do it without being rude. “One of my application requirement” just sounds extremely narcissistic.

[–]BreweryBuddha 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I think you can put a pompous inflection on it and it's pretty unflattering or you can say it in an obviously facetious matter on a casual dating app and it can come across as obviously facetious.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Idk I’m 6 foot and if someone just opened with this I’d instantly be turned off. It might just be me but something about it just gives me weird objectifying vibes, so I don’t comment on people’s looks either. I’ve never used a dating app so maybe the culture is different there.

[–]atari_bigby -5 points-4 points-3 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

ITT: shallow people getting defensive

[–]HPIDDYfanboy101 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Why is it shallow to have a physical preferences on an app designed to match you with people you find attractive?

It seems to be a modern thing to pretend like we aren't recently rock bashing apes with 500million years of sexually selective instincts inside us. And that we should all only care 100% about personality and nothing else. And the thing is women care WAAAY more about personality and secondary factors than men do but still that's not good enough 😂

Just be thankful the old system where the big guy bashes the little guys head in with a rock and holds a harem of women isn't still in place and go on dates with shorter women or one of the many women who don't really care about height and care more about social skills/status and personality.

[–]nbhoward 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I mean, I agree with you that it’s ok to have physical preferences but that doesn’t make it not shallow. On the other hand this doesn’t really fit the sub, she wasn’t expecting better treatment just because she was a women. She stated she had preferences and he rejected her on principles. The genders could have been easily reversed ie im glad your not a fat chick. I’m glad you let me know your an asshole right off the bat. This sub just kind of hates women from what I’ve seen.

[+]Rattlingplates -10 points-9 points-8 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Don’t see what’s wrong with being attracted to certain attributes....

[–]GwerillaGrip -2 points-1 points0 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Some of you agree with this while having a thousand “preferences” for women, has to be shorter than me, has to be skinny, has to be this race, has to cook for me, has to clean up after me, can’t have too much makeup, can’t have guy friends are just some. And of course there’s girls who are shallow but the moment a girl prefers a height some of you act like they just insulted your entire life.

[+]WeakHamburger -12 points-11 points-10 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[+]DeltaFireBlues -12 points-11 points-10 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If you’re a tall guy why would you give a shit? Probably lied about his height 😂

[+]HPIDDYfanboy101 -17 points-16 points-15 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I really don't understand why it's such an issue on here that women are typically attracted to taller men 😂😂

That said I think really on bumble (which I think has a height filter anyway) it is weird for her to act so up herself 🤷‍♂️

[–]YoBoiWitTheShits -3 points-2 points-1 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Fr it's just a preference. Half of these dudes wouldn't date a chick over 150 or taller than him

[–]nbhoward 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[+]Kymei -6 points-5 points-4 points 5 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

The funny thing about this is she’s unaffected by this and can move on to hundreds of more men 🚀🚀

[–]just_dots 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

She's probably short and fat so I wouldn't bet on her moving around too much.

[–]Kymei -2 points-1 points0 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hahahahaaha, she has a vagina she’ll be a okay

[–]Coldest_Pillow 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Hundreds of more men??? Eww

[–]Kymei -2 points-1 points0 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Dating for women is like being a doctor during the corona virus, dating for men is like having an art degree looking for a job.

[–]Coldest_Pillow 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Leave it to an “attractive/intelligent” woman to compare themselves dating to a pandemic, during a pandemic. The death among ppls families is a nice touch to use when making analogies about your love life.

[–]Kymei -2 points-1 points0 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Who cares, stop being an overly sensitive little bitch.

[–]Coldest_Pillow 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Are you a child/woman? Who else’s last resort is to use profanity when they don’t like what they hear?

[–]Kymei -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Huh? What’s my gender have to do with the fact that women have an objectively easier time dating than men, get off of reddit and do a google search. And as far as your COVID and child / woman comments, just shut the fuck up you sound real dumb lol. You are too easily offended.

[–]Coldest_Pillow 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Suggesting google searching as research and gratuitous unsolicited profanity, Yes a child/someone who thinks it’s cool to talk about dating 100s of men online/not a woman Lol. Btw I would be offended if you did reference yourself as a woman.

[–]xMoody -3 points-2 points-1 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[+]Vietpholover -32 points-31 points-30 points 5 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

Yo you know this person *might* be giving a compliment about height in a subtle way right? Objectively speaking I don't think she's acting like a bitch from this one introductory text..so what is the problem here?

[–]hamburger12199 11 points12 points13 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It was an awkward attempt to be flirty and complimentary. That’s all.

[+]Vietpholover -10 points-9 points-8 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]0kool74 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Ijatsu2 points 5 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

[+]Alexchii -17 points-16 points-15 points 5 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

This sub dislikes women. Many posts are actual ppd's, but we have a lot of women hate here as well and that pulls women hating incels to the sub.

For all we know this girl is really nice to shorter men but just has a preference for taller guys which she is entitled to. She might be super sweet girl just trying to be funny and is in a silly way telling OP she likes that he's tall.

[–]BrazillianIncell 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

See, you defend her, but not the dude for having a preference of not dating girls that dislike short men, you are a pussy pleaser.

[–]Vietpholover -5 points-4 points-3 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

  1. There hasn't been any evidence of "not" defending a dude like you mentioned from the commentor.
  2. A pussy pleaser is bad compared to what a dick pleaser? Come on man, your rhetoric is as bad as your use of commas in that run-on of a sentence lol.

[–]BrazillianIncell 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

You just went to say this sub is just a mask for hating women, as in anything bad about any women is actually bad because men cannot think bad of anyone, you are honestly really stupid. Not only that I'm somehow a dick pleaser? I never ever heard of this term before, stop projecting yourself.

[–]Vietpholover -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Lol I don't think that way about the sub. Don't start projecting what other people say to be my perspective. You don't even know what I think about women or men.

What you're doing is projecting other people's beliefs onto me; a person you have not even talked to about anything. Yet you came to conclusions about my opinions.

What I do think is that you are an idiot. Stop embarrassing yourself, do yourself a favor and shut the fuck up.

[–]BrazillianIncell 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

imagine being this much of a retard, you can't even read what you wrote it yourself.

[–]Vietpholover 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]Alexchii -3 points-2 points-1 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh both are entitled to their opinions. One of them, however, posted it to reddit crisisising the other. See the difference?

[–]0kool74 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Really nice to shorter men 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Most retarded shit I’ve read all day

[–]Alexchii -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

How so? It's different to not just want to date short guys and to be an asshole toward short guys..

[–]HPIDDYfanboy101 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Don't you get it mate. If you aren't attracted to someone due to some basic instinct/how you were raised you morally need.to ignore that and date them anyway.

Most of the incels on here who hate women for liking taller guys won't even acknowledge that the biggest predictor for getting attractive women is being socially successful, financially successfull, and generally having a good personality and being fun to be around. Aka things they could control if they just got over themselves (not hard at 5ft5) and put the work in on self improvement.

[–]Alexchii -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well as we kno blaming women for the fact that you're just not a desirable human is the foundation of inceldom.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There's a lot of posts and comments that border incel/nice guy territory

[+]CopyX -11 points-10 points-9 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You guys must have zero preferences then. Cool.

[–]nbhoward 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It’s almost like their getting mad at her for body shaming short people... two sides of the same coin.

[–]CopyX -4 points-3 points-2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No but you guys cant deny you have preferences when it comes to sexual partners.

Thats like her leading off with i like your beard or i like your smile.

Then all the chud manlets in this thread saying “OH YOU DONT LIKE US NON BEARDS WHO HAVE ASYMMETRICAL FACES?”

You have sexual preferences too. Dont deny it. Let her have hers, get over it.

[–]Maka_Maker -3 points-2 points-1 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

this wasn’t bad. She likes taller guys.. what’s the big deal?

[–]hamburger12199 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

"application requirement"

That's just very awkward.

[–]GreatWhiteNurse 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Seems like a joke that fell flat with you. Not really as egregious or offensive as your reply seems to suggest.

[–]Maka_Maker -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Is it? Maybe I’m giving her the benefit of the doubt that she was just having a little fun. I’ll joke with girls and tell em that I’m an equal opportunity employer when they ask what type of girl I’m attracted to.

[+]meghnaaad1 points 5 years ago [recovered] (18 children) | Copy Link

Fucking manlets and their insecurities. Listen you salty midgets, no one has any control over their personal sexual preference. If someone is not attracted to manlets then that's that, they can't help it, they are not being prejudiced, they are not trying to insult you.

Don't take it personally, it's better they are clear and direct up front instead of wasting both of yours time.

[–]hamburger12199 13 points14 points15 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I absolutely agree with you! Everyone has their own preferences. But your toxic comment which I wasted my time reading has nothing to do with this post which is about nothing but how her awkward attempt to be flirty and complimentary led her into getting rejected. I did not post this to spread hate for other girls or to show that the tall guys are fighting for short and other cringy shit.
