And this is why "self defense" classes for women can be downright detrimental and dangerous.

If the only thing they are up against is other women and the only man they might be facing there is the instructor that won´t kick their ass, then they might actually start believing that they are some kind of super person that is unbeatable, and that men and women are kinda the same physically, that the difference is not that great.

The reality is that size, raw strength, sheer body mass, bone density and a lot of testosterone does make a world of difference, and if you are on the wrong end of the scales then you are most likely going to end up getting your ass handed to you no matter how good you are.

Don´t get me wrong, everyone should be have the right to defend themselves, the problem is when you have a false sense of reality and end up doing something stupid.

Joining a martial arts (boxing, Jujitsu MMA, other real ones) center on the other hand with mixed sexes where everyone gets to train against each other can teach the humility to not try to pick pointless fights.

Pro tip. If you wanna learn self defence, take up things like boxing, MMA or some martial art like jujitsu. If you're gonna defend yourself, you'd best do it right, and not those self proclaimed self defence classes. Also, make sure whatever class you do go to is a good one. There are plenty of schools out there who will half ass lessons just for your money.
