Just a random observation this morning. I often mention on this sub how surprisingly easy it was to get laid after I got a divorce. I had always attributed this to the fact that I was objectively more attractive in my mid 30s than I was in my 20s. I put on some weight in a good way, have more confidence, and now proudly grow a truly resplendent and manly beard, among other things.

But is that all it is? I don't think so. Yes, I get initial interest from women, but when I mention that I'm divorced, they really start to perk up. Why is that? I have a hypothesis. Divorce is a status symbol for men. It shows balls, it shows money, and it shows preselection.

Divorce is expensive. I spent the equivalent of a very, very nice luxury car on the process, and still have a reasonably nice standard of living. Women know how expensive it is, and immediately get a sense for how much I must earn.

Marriage is one of the biggest shit tests women have in their arsenal. For a man who obviously said "fuck you, I'll just pay the price for my freedom" it probably speaks volumes.

In short, being divorced is a preselection heuristic. Any man who divorced his wife recently and came out smiling is obviously worthy of attention.
