I've been RP for about 3 years now, and have recently been spinning plates again after ending a LTR. One of the phrases that hit home the hardest in my learning however was this:

"She's not yours - it's just your turn."

The other night, I finished work and headed home, intending to throw on tv to watch some sport, catch up on my reading and relax. One of my plates, let's call her L, shoots me a message when she's out drinking with some friends - it's clear she's keen to hang out later. A bit of background - i've been plating this girl for 2 months maybe, so it's reasonably fresh, but she's obedient, and we get along well enough in all the right departments.

After a bit of flirty banter about the night at hand, there's a bit of radio silence before she calls me, and she's shitfaced. She wants me to come to the city, a 20 minute drive away, to see her - I say no, and tell her to follow her desires and come to me. This goes back and forth for a while, until one of her random friends grabs her phone, and drops this gem:

"I don't think you're being nice to L at all. She deserves something amazing, and you are not amazing."

I hung up.

It was clear I was the topic of conversation, and her friends came to the conclusion without meeting me that I'm no good and that i've somehow mistreated her, a train of thought that could only have come from L herself.

Now the old BP me would have responded by sending a message, getting mad or retaliating, maybe even heading out to confront them. But that shit gets you NOWHERE.

Instead, i've done nothing - why? Aside from the immediate hamstering effect my silence will have on L, I know my time with her is up. Her friends have painted me as a bad influence, but more importantly, I don't take kindly to this level of disrespect, and neither should all of you.

Enjoy your turn, but don't hold on or try to turn a dire situation around, just because it's an easy lay or because she's "sorry" - know when your turn is up, and act accordingly.
