Summary: Lifting is good, learning is best.

Body:

It is a ubiquitously accepted fact that lifting heavy ass weights is good for your mind, and body. Looking good/feeling good/being strong should be a priority for any man. It is also accepted that women are more attracted to men who are fit than those who are sedentary. As much as we like to say that we lift for ourselves, deep down, there is a part of us all that thrives on the 'mirin of our peers and HB 10's.

I do not believe, however, that lifting should be number 1 (professional lifters excluded). Past a certain age, all of us will succumb to aging: testosterone levels drop, our joints get creaky, bone density decreases, the works. It is a facet of nature. In this stage, we do not exercise to be the dominant man. We exercise to maintain health, to extend our lives, to fight the ravaging diseases that plague the elderly. At this stage, we are doing it for ourselves. And chances are, it is not heavy lifting.

our entire lives however, if we watch our diet, and have decent genetics, we can learn. Humans did not evolve to be strong. Everything we have accomplished in our ~200,000 year history has been because of our cranial capacity, not because of our brawn. Strength has always helped, of course, but the mind triumphs even the mightiest. Homo sapien is latin for "the man who knows". And although we are still a young, naive species, we are damn good at sponging up information.

Which is why I preach that learning, reading, studying, playing instruments, using your brain to its fullest capabiity be the #1 priority of any man who cares enough about himself to live his life completely. We are RedPillers because of our ability to observe, apply logic, and quantify data that we see in our everyday environments. Knowledge, in our contemparary world, will take you farther up the dominance chain than any other single attribute.

  • So pick up a book. Do some math. Master an instrument. Take some classes at your community college (and get at some young plates while you're at it). We live in an era where information is so abundant that we don't even know what to do with it. Each day should be contributed to learning something new about the world and how it works.

  • I lift 5 times a week, I love it. I am strong, I look good, and girls look at me when I walk down the street. As a man, I accept that ultimately, it is for show. Our bodies are amazing vessels yes, we do should all that we can with them; the mind however, is the most beautiful system of all. We did not win the conception lottery to live a life of primal feelings and superficial acceptance. These things have their time and place, but they are only a facet. As men, we are here for progress, to make the world a better place for those who will be when we are gone.

Socrates (Xenophon): "“No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.”

Kant:"All our knowledge begins with the senses, proceeds then to the understanding, and ends with reason. There is nothing higher than reason."

Ignorance is bliss, but knowledge is power.

And as a man, power is all.
