Girls rarely make the first move. If you give them an app where they can only make the first move, they just won't use it. So you'll have a dating app with nothing but guys, which is the problem with a lot of online dating.

Sexist, yes. But this is one area where there is some logic, b/c guys' volume on dating apps is so ridiculous. This app's sexism per se doesn't bug me (what bugs me is that it exists a culture which claims to not be sexist, and allows this but never allows any double standards benefitting men).

Of course, this model will just make things EVEN MORE looks-based than Tinder (hard to imagine) since the gals will message first. Tinder was 1. your looks + 2. your first-message game 3. your game thereafter. This gets rid of 2. Funny how things that supposedly promote and cater to women tend to push them to (and cater to their innate desire to) act like caricatures of men at their worst (i.e. shallow and totally looks based).

The name is retarded. No one wants to associate "Bumbling" with their sex life. I'm sure they meant Bumble as in Bee, but still retarded.

This is an app that is comically contrary to human nature. Women sending the first email? What a joke. I would say that 0.5% of the guys will receive 99% of the emails... But that would imply that more than 200 guys would ever sign up, and more than 100 women.

As long as photos and pure visual attraction is involved you'll always get men expressing an interest in any woman, and women being super-picky as they can't be sure the next guy won't be hotter.

Sure, you could have an app with no photos and all text, but that would fail pretty fast.

This is good for us, guys.

The only girls left on Tinder would be the ones actually wanting the guy to take control, push for a meetup, etc. We have a better time there because no messaging attention whores (as much).

Second, the only girls who message you on Bumble are going to be the ones that are actually motivated to talk to you (and potentially meet up and bang). Get the app, swipe right a ton, and wait. Not reliable, but time-efficient.

Edit: never use the 24 hour extend feature. "I have hotter girls than you that I want to give more time to. Hurry up."

If this comes out for real, I'm getting both. It's completely insane and totally unfair, but we can only choose how we react to that.

Sure, all the power is put the hands of women for starting an interaction, but it's the dynamics that creates that are interesting. The men can't do anything but like everyone and look attractive, which takes no effort. The women will therefore end up liking and starting chats with only the top guys. Unlike the real world where they can assume any guy too shy to talk to them isn't worth their time, now guys CAN'T start the conversation, meaning 1. they'll feel like all the guys are barely interested, 2. they'll have to do all the work starting the conversation, 3. they can't tell if you're alpha or beta and 4. the guys end up with a nice list of girls willing to date them without putting in any effort.

What does this mean? It's only viable for the attractive tall muscular guys who girls would actually approach, and everyone else will get precisely zero dates. No amount of game will make a difference, since you don't actually get the chance to seduce them. Effectively it'll become an anonymous male meat market, full of girls trying to get the attention of only the top guys, who get their pick of the masses without putting in any effort. No way in hell will this end up being for serious dating.

Should you use it? If you are attractive enough to get attention, its a few extra points in the numbers game, so there's no reason not to.

You cannot steal Tinder's market just by throwing this out there because there are too many people using Tinder. For social apps, the question is how to get from 0 to 1 and you're trying to go from 0-1 in a market where Tinder owns most of the users.

The spin to try and beat Tinder is to appeal to women. The problem is that you need both women and men. After all, if the app is 80% women and 20% ugly guys, then whats the point?

Furthermore, the best looking guys that the women want are already getting what they need from Tinder. You cannot say that men will move to Bumble because that's putting the cart before the horse: you need to prove that women will move to it prior to men moving over, especially since you've basically advertised it as more power to women. That removes power from men and thus makes them more averse to going to Bumble.

TL;DR: Bumble is, quite literally, a female circle jerk because the only people you're going to meet on there is other women and betas that they will never respond to because alphas are already king in Tinder.

This is not that different from how you should be using Tinder anyway. Get in shape, social proofed, and looking good. Swipe the chicks. A small % of them will message you first, a smaller % of them will be attractive and not bots. Message these back, push for # and meet, or end the interaction.

This is actually pretty useful if you get your ass in shape and take good pics. Spend 5 mins swiping 1k bitches, then just wait for the small % of trickle in with the first word. Make a polarizing photo (shirtless pic for instance) that cuts out everyone but the girls who are desperate for a AF experience. You'll not get 9s and 10s, but you'll fuck 6-8s for a pretty low amount of effort. You just need to invest the time into some social proof, muscular physique, and getting flattering photos. Which is all work than any man on his RP journey should be doing anyways.

Women approach first on Tinder occasionally. On an App where they were necessitates to approach first to have a convo, I think a decently attractive (8 and up) guy in good shape who doesn't look like a beta could some 4-5 messages per 100 swipes. The type of male who can use Tinder effectively could use this effectively. Fewer results, sure, far less effort too.

Allowing only the women to send the first message is great since it eliminates the vast majority of "no response" connections which is what the vast majority of tinder matches are. Think about this for a second. It basically puts the burden of opening on the girl instead of the guy. This is great.

I don't think it will catch on though because women will run away as soon as they start getting all those rejections because they're only messaging the hottest guys.

Contrary to bullshit feminist belief, the reason women don't initiate often isn't because of societal pressure or gender roles or whatever else bullshit. It's because they don't have to and getting rejected sucks. well actually for a while I've been experimenting on dating site with a pic of a 10/10 guy and even though I got some real gems using standard methods, at one point I decided to test being a bit more passive. Even though women initiated contact 95% of it was 'hi'. Respond with Hi and you get even more pathetic attempts.

Looks like there is a lot of PR engineering going on right now around this app. A whole bunch of flashy articles written about it.

The one linked below especially throws a light on the many ways this app is going to fail if you're RP enough. One special point to note she mentions that they have 12 people in the company right now, 7 are in the US and are primarily women. So we know that the product and strategy decisions are being taken by women in the US and the engineers are men outside the US. There is constant noise made about lack of diversity when a team is mainly male leading to monoculture and missing perspectives. No one is going to notice the monoculture of a women dominated team and when invariably the product fails there will be excuses.

This puts the onus on women to make a first move. The 24 hour window means there is actually some pressure on her to initiate. I think it is an interesting social experiment, and could possibly decrease the flaking that is so common on dating sites. I think it is actually good for men because they won't be wasting so much time messaging girls who aren't interested. Rather than looking at it as "women always go first" (an obvious ploy to attract female users) it could say "Now women have to do some of the work too."

I don't think it will take off though. Girls do not like making the first move, and guys don't like waiting around for females to approach. It will fail because it goes against biology.
