Or at least after a certain point in your TRP journey.

I’ll be frank

I come here for advice from the elders. Older guys who’ve been through life and can teach me how to be a better man. Yes, there are posts like “TRP is not a blueprint” and I agree with that. However, I made the mistake of thinking it will do more than it should.

I thought that if I knew and empathize with what is written here, I’ll get a free-pass. That I won’t have to go through the phase in which I’m burned. What I’d like to share with fellow TRPers is that, if they’re like me - likes to read and to ace things, and I’m not talking school (I was bad in school as I don’t give two damns and I went on my own to make that $$$), - they might think they’ll get ahead of the curve.

However, as per my experience, TRP is not about preventing you from making mistakes. It’s about telling you what to expect when shit happens and I also think that you should full frontally approach them, especially since you know (or at least have an idea of) what will happen. Then, you’ll get what we call wisdom.

Why?

Why make these mistakes? Because, I’d argue, it is not until you feel them on your own skin (the consequences) that you’re actually able to internalise and accept a lesson. And if you take it by word from TRP, you’ll either

a) not fully believe in it ever

b) not fully believe in it up to a certain point where you make that mistake. And I’m supposing you’d agree with me that it’s better to make the mistakes early in life

I don’t like the heroic light in which some ppl put themselves here. “Oh, I swallowed the pill last night. Preach, brothers!!!” Sheesh I wish it was just a pill. It was a pill in the movie, but with life and women, it’s a long-term meal.

Proof?

Just link it to the other concepts of TRP. Anger phase, disappointment and wisdom.

How can you feel all these if you take them by word? I foolishly thought I could jump straight to wisdom, but if you don’t feel the anger — what will make the impact so big in your gut/brain/head/whatever so that you’ll program yourself to not make the same mistake twice?
