I was such a Beta.

My wife is a high self-monitor and an extrovert. She has very good social skills.

I'm very much an introvert and, as my wife likes to tell me, probably on the autism spectrum.

When we first met, I was 195lbs, lifting weights regularly, seeing my friends and family regularly, and going to martial arts classes.

First off, I allowed myself to become isolated from social support group. She was/is much more proactive about scheduling activities, and I soon found my calendar filled with gatherings with all of her friends and family. My friends and family (much) later told me that I 'dropped off the face of the planet.'

So I gave up my friends and family. Weightlifting and martial arts went soon thereafter. I started losing muscle and gaining weight.

In social interactions with her, I'd get my ass kicked. She'd point out that she was an extrovert and therefore 'knew' how to interact with others and I, being an extrovert... not so much. So I started taking my cues on how to communicate with her from... her.

She claimed an abusive ex-husband and controlling ex-boyfriends in her past. So I went out of my way not to be that type of person. Whenever she'd claim I was controlling or scaring her, I'd back off and apologize. I apologized a lot back then.

By the time we were married, I was the heaviest I've ever weighed in my life. Outside her family and friends, I was almost completely socially isolated. We only had sex once on our honeymoon, three days in.

Sex was once a week or so, until she got pregnant. Then it slipped to once every 4-5 weeks.

While she was in her nesting phase of the pregnancy she pushed hard for a single family home. The woman whose monthly paycheck only lasted 4-5 days (and she didn't pay any of the bills other than 1/2 of the groceries) was pressing me to buy at the very, very, VERY top of the bubble.

Her argument? "It's only 600 thousand dollars. Everyone else is doing it."

No. I shit you not. She actually said that.

Now, on the social level, I'm borderline Asbergers, but I knew a sucker's deal when I saw one. I'm proud to say I held the line on that one.

As the years went by, I slowly crumpled inside, like an empty beer can. If you don't respect yourself, will anyone else respect you? Exactly.

She started trying to get physical, but nothing near what other guys have endured. It would be a passive aggressive swat. Something that she could be able to cover by mocking me for being 'too sensitive.'

Her go-to leverage was being the victim. She'd wait until I had a few drinks, needle me and then escalate, trying to provoke socially unacceptable behavior.

I'd have to endure the lecturing, the social shaming, and her hauling in for 'counseling' where she 'our' therapist would lecture me.

I was told I had anger issues if I stayed and fought with her during our fights.

I was told I had unhealthy communication patterns if I tried to flee when my wife would start in on me.

I was told I was an alcoholic.

For years, I fell for this. Then I started noticing the patterns. I would say to myself, "Hey, I know what's going to happen soon: X, Y, and Z." And I found myself being right.

Once I recognized the tunes we were dancing to, I started changing the beat.

Alcohol? I decided to quit drinking for a few months. And gosh-golly-gee, my wife, who would regularly accuse me of being an alcoholic, started bringing me glasses of wine after a few weeks. They were surreptitiously tossed into the sink.

This allowed me to more easily recognize and deal with the attacks when they came, but she wanted her drama cookie, so she began to double down on 'teh crazy' when she'd come after me. She was going for Victim, so she wouldn't attack, but she'd turn into a full-blown emotional shit-hurricane trying to get me to lose my cool.

It got so bad that I contemplated suicide multiple times a day. Sometimes I'd daydream about enlisting, being sent of to Afghanistan, and jumping on a grenade for a MoH, which would mean an automatic acceptance to one of the Academies for my kids.

Most days I just thought about pulling my .357 out of my closet, tossing in a round, putting the gun in my mouth and pulling the trigger.

And THAT folks is the blessing and the trap of having kids.

Once things got so bad, my rational brain was thinking, "You need to fucking EJECT man!" And if I hadn't had children, I would have. Boot "So long, bitch! MAUAHAHAHAH!" and then I would have gone and fucked up my next relationship.

But I couldn't leave my kids. And that's what caused the thoughts of suicide: the crushing despair of knowing I had to leave and also knowing that I would lose my kids if I did so.

What saved me? /r/deadbedrooms. Yep, that black pit of despair started up in, what, 2010? Before that place existed, I had no idea people were in such bad straights as I was.

Knowing other people existed that were going through what I was going through made me feel much less alone.

Then three things happened: someone on r/deadbedrooms put up a link to MMSL, my brother moved nearby, and my wife got me what I consider the best present of my LIFE for my birthday.

I LITERALLY heard "click" in my head. My next thought was, "Oh FUCK THIS NOISE." She knew (but never said) that my brother being nearby would mean that I actually had someone in my corner. She was right. Life started getting better, but not after it got much worse. Which brings me to...

Have you ever felt the joy of reaching into a gift-bag and pulling out $14 worth of tupperware? Yeah. Me neither. Happy birthday.

But someboooooody made a whoopsie! Her birthday was a month after mine. And I was going to gloss over it. All that white-knight nobility bullshit came bubbling up. "Be the better man." "Don't be passive aggressive."

So I buy her a nice necklace. A jade owl with gold-leaf wings. The lady boxes and bags it up and I turn away and... I get physically ill. You know those hot-cold flashes you get, right before you throw up? Yeah. That.

My physical body had rebelled against my subservient rationalizations. I resolved that I wouldn't give her the necklace. No. I didn't return it. It was on sale and I'm cheap. My daughter loves it.

The next day I go out and buy her her birthday present. How do I know how much that tupperware costs? Yup. That's what I got her. I got her E.X.A.C.T.L.Y. what she got me.

In mid-November of 2011, people in the Washington DC metro area may have noticed a thermonuclear explosion originating near Dulles Airport. That was my wife.

Apparently a gift that was perfectly appropriate for me was a mortal insult for her.

She told me to move out a week later. I told her to piss up a rope and that the kids would miss her if she wanted to leave, but I was just jim-dandy fine with it.

Within a week I had a lawyer. A few days after that I started moving my stuff into my sons room, told her we could do an in-home separation and the sooner we started the sooner it'd be over.

She said that maybe 'we should take a step back,' so I did.

It's been a long road, but 2-3 years later, my harridan has turned so nice. She's lovey-dovey.

I used to buy chicks dinner and drinks. I was in college working to pay the bills - and then I would go and blow like 2-4 hrs of wages on some date that would have like a 10% chance of eventually leading to pussy. So do the math, 20-40 hrs of time wasted per lay - and not just any time wasted, but "time-hours" that I needed to for college. Think about that, traditional dating is the epitome of beta and luckily when I joined a frat I was schooled to this shit simply by noticing no one dated except the brothers that weren't really cool at all. You're hustling backwards if you spend money on a bitch, chase the paper, they come with the shit.

It's really that simple - betas chase ONE woman, alphas chase the money, power, and respect, which gets them MANY women by proxy. When you start being a chump, losing money on a girl or losing time or losing power or respect... then even if you do fuck her, you've lost SMV in the process and are more beta for the experience. The exception would be guys who have too much money to ever really give a fuck.

It's not a sob story and it's not embarrassing to others, in that this behavior of "courtship" dating is how most men go about shit. But it's one of the things I'm most embarrassed about - I had education to pay for, a car to pay off, rent due, I hate my job, and the pouring the fruits of that labor into a PERCENTAGE CHANCE of a lay.

And others have the excuse of not knowing better, but I can't even claim that. I knew better, but I did it anyway and rationalized after - which is of course the very essence of beta.

Three years ago I had major oneitis for this girl at work. I then proceeded to supershit all over my eating space. By them their true nature is revealed."

back in college, when my alma mater's football team was doing some good, i had a crush on this girl who lived across my dorm and i bought her and her roommate $80 team jerseys...i used my own savings with the expectation that it'll make her like me more. Then later on, i got a flower and put it in a water bottle as a vase and left it in front of her door as a secret admirer. eventually i had her tell her friend that i like her and of course, she just stopped talking to me at all until i let the whole thing go. never really talked to her after that.

I still have a bad conscience about what I said next:

"You know...he would do everything for her. If she told him to go alone and buy the hard-drive for her so that she can spend the evening with you...he would do it."

"You are right. I'll call her at once."

It went down exactly as planned. She called her orbiter and told him the change of plans. My buddy spent the evening making out with her while her orbiter went to buy the harddrive for her alone.

2) Late at night at my favorite bar. A girl I knew came in with some guy. She wasn't a friend but I considered her a buddy of mine. I was sitting alone at the bar, they sat down at a table.

She insisted that I joined them. She praised the guy because she had wanted to go out but nobody had the time. When she called him, he was already asleep but he got up just because she really really wanted to go out. She said he was her best friend! (yeah...)

After that she talked with me and paid no attention to the guy. After a short while I decided that it was unfair. This poor guy got out of bed just for her and then she isn't even talking to him? So I excused myself and went back to the bar.

Not long after that she came to me and showed me her cellphone. Her ex-boyfriend had texted her if she wanted to come over to have sex. She asked me if she should go. I didn't care and said: "If you want to, why not?"

So they both left the bar.

A few weeks after that she pissed me off with something and I decided not to talk to her anymore. But she desperately wanted to fix the issue and talked to me while I was drunk and defenseless.

When she started to talk about the meaning of friendship I said: "Friendship? You talk of friendship? Remember this guy, who got out of bed just to do you a favor? The guy you then ignored and talked to me? And then after less than an hour you left him to fuck your ex-boyfriend? You call that your best friend. You shouldn't be talking about friendship."

"Oh, come on. I know. He has a crush on you, right? And you are using him."

With my very first girlfriend, whom I'd met in high school and continued dating a year into college, I turned into an emotional wreck when she broke up with me. I didn't go so far as to beg in tears for her to take me back because I did have my pride at least and knew that other girls were into me, but I didn't think I'd get someone as sexually adventurous as she in the near future, so I kept hanging around like an abused dog who didn't know any better. It didn't help that she still liked being intimate with me from time to time while still pursuing other guys. I don't cringe thinking about it anymore but if I could go back in time and meet myself, I'd kick my own ass.

Another instance was in my early 20s with a fairly attractive woman 10 years my senior in one of my college classes. She sat near me, and we eventually struck up a conversation, which led to us exchanging contact information, in case one of us missed a class or whatever. The following semester, we happened to share another class, and she had told me that she had just gone through a divorce and had just moved into her own new place and...well, to make a long story short, she initiated and nudged me along with all manner of excuses (e.g. she needed a study partner) until I was at her new place having sex with her one night. But for some reason that I don't understand now, I felt awkward having sex with someone who wasn't below but near my own age, and she looked much older than her age due to so much stress in her life. So I faded out awkwardly while she continued trying to invite me over to her place for more sex every weekend or so for almost two months. In hindsight, I'd like to kick my own ass for passing up pussy that was being handed to me on a silver platter.

I almost feel like posting on a burner for this one. So this chick is my first relationship after leaving my wife. No steady job, 3 kids, the oldest is in the father's custody, younger 2 are from a different dad in her custody.

She's in another state, we started talking from a mutual music interest, it escalates, I make a point to come visit her, we bang like rabbits, I leave and immediately start looking for jobs in her city, thinking we'll live together, be a family, the whole bullshit.

We're still talking, but the conversation seems to be off. I land a job in her city, drop my two weeks and make housing arrangements. I get there to find out she's been banging this other dude and I'm all broken up, I start to come to terms with it, bang some random chick and start moving on. I take her back, start living together, a couple months go by of living with her bastard children, then I catch her sending nudes again.

Ended it with her, but still kept in contact as friends. Then I said fuck that, cut all contact with her because I realized even as a friend she's a shitty person.

Each of these things were separated by about 4 months:

She wanted to reconnect, so I dumped two plates for her and then she immediately dumped me.
She got pregnant with another man's child and told me there was a 50/50 chance it was mine. She was off by two months, dumped me again. I lashed out at the guy, "I came on your baby's forehead about 15 times."
My old job sent my tax return to our old address and she got it, so she left it with one of 6 gas stations nearby on the off chance I'd buy cigarettes there
She started calling me while she was 8 months pregnant and living with the other man. We'd secretly meet up every so often in public places so I could grope her belly. I also fucked her twice while she was this pregnant. She had the baby and broke it off.

That was over the span of about a year and a half. At some point I realized I can't be trusted around her, so I only answer her calls/texts with, "whatever it is that you want to give me: make a fire, pick it up, and then jump in the fire. I don't want it."

Side note: sex with a pregnant woman is terrible.

Back in high school, my friend was sitting behind two girls in class. One of them said to the other that she thought I was cute, and my friend talked to them, saying "you know I can hear this right?" They just shrugged it off. He told me this at lunch, and can you guess what I did? If you guessed absolutely nothing, then ding ding ding, we have a winner. I never had the confidence back then to make any moves.

Had this one chick friend in which I was essentially an orbiter, but we both had respected significant others. Well my girlfriend broke up with me and I ran into her at a show downtown. My then ex gf was pretty conservative and had told me she would never be caught downtown because that wasn't her scene. She was with a dude.

I used to read SoSuave around 12 years ago when I was about 14-15. My confidence was improving and the concepts expressed actually worked quite well. One day, I read a post talking about how all women are shit and I took if personal and left the community.

One-itis after one-itis. Never getting anywhere with girls besides occasional ONS when I was drunk. The blue pill mentality infected every part of my life.
