[–]Janey-Smith 69 points70 points71 points 4 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link
What's the worst that can happen? He calls your job and gets you fired? It's subway! You can work anywhere! On the other hand best case scenario you two get married have 2.5 kids a dog a cat and live happily ever after!
[–]myoldgamertag 93 points94 points95 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
No dude is going to call a girls work because they felt it was inappropriate that the employee passed their number along. Lol shoot your shot
[–]Janey-Smith 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Agreed but it was literally the worst thing I could think of!!! 😊 Most men even married or committed ones I would think would be flattered and simply say sorry I'm taken!
[–]myoldgamertag 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Exactly.
[–]whale_sports 20 points21 points22 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
Damn...2.5 kids? Where's the other half kid at?🤣🤣🤣

[–]Janey-Smith 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
It's all good! I would like to know too!!!
[–]MrDownhillRacer 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
It's like how statistically speaking, the average person has 1.97 arms.
[–]Janey-Smith 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Really?!?! I didn't know that! Learn something new everyday!
[–]MrDownhillRacer 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yup! Almost everybody has two arms, but some people have 1 or 0 (some exceptionally rare cases of people who have more than two arms, but there are far more people missing arms due to amputation or congenital anomalies than there are those with extra), so when you add up all the arms and divide them by the total number of people, the average you get is less than two.
[–]Janey-Smith1 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Wow! Statistics are cool!
[–]Asiaticson_ 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Would I ever even notice the 3% of arm missing?
[–]TheBroMagnon 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Stujitsu2 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]NastyMonkeyKing 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
As long as he knows you put the napkin in yes.
[–]stanthemilkman88 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Just do it. He may call he may not. You can't control that, you can control what you do though. Other option is to do nothing. Then that's same as not calling.
[–]cutanddried 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes
I was going to say put it in his sandwich, I think a napkin may be overlooked, the sandwich won't
[–]MrMacDoctor 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
He's in the military. He's thirsty. I wouldn't go as far as a relationship with the guy personally but he's definitely free game.

Id argue that getting a cookie and a compliment for my shirt/how I look would be a very clear sign of interest from a girl.
[–]spiderSlayerr 19 points20 points21 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I’ve gotten free cookies and shirt compliments many times as I order food at places. I’ve never once thought the girl is interested in me. I just assume “I have a nice shirt on” or “she’s having a nice day and wants to be nice” and it’s probably those 2. If you like someone just say it don’t make me be a detective. 23 btw 6’2 tennis player
[–]Asiaticson_ 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
It’s not.

[–]MrColfax 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]dreambeaver007 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
What if he’s just not interested? I don’t want to be creepy / pushy
[–]Gaydame 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The rest is up to him

[–]MigasEnsopado 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]thatshinobiboiii 38 points39 points40 points 4 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

[–]lokipoki30 15 points16 points17 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]KrystalAthena 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link
It's because maintaining eye contact and smiling is a common flirting tactic, but she's probably not realizing there needs to be more than that.
She's just not in the right setting to do physical flirting because that would be too much
[–]Fun-Ad-3658 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link
Smiling just looks they’re being friendly. Eye contact is normal human interaction.
[–]KrystalAthena 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link
Separately yes, but both combined + complimenting them was taught to me as a flirting tactic
[–]Fun-Ad-3658 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Ah. I’m only 19 so you would know more than me lol.
[–]KrystalAthena 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Age doesn't equate to wisdom. Only life experience can, which can vary from person to person. And in my life experience, that tactic has worked for me.
I know an 18 year old that's accomplished so much and suffered a lot more than me, and I'm 28. It all looks differently from individual to individual
[–]thatshinobiboiii 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
Both combined = someone being friendly. I smile at everyone who I make eye contact with pretty much as a gesture of kindness. I see girls smile at me all the time to if we make eye contact. Never once had it crossed my mind that they’re flirting. They either do that or look away super quick, especially in a setting that isn’t conducive to flirting I’ve never heard of a guy considering that flirting. Although I also feel flirting standards and practices are different now compared to before.
[–]KrystalAthena 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
Both combined = someone being friendly
Yes, I agree that is friendly
But I was saying:
eye contact + smiling + complimenting = flirting
[–]thatshinobiboiii 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
Oh the compliment bit wasn’t stated in this comment thread which was made about eye contact. Compliments from a girl is obviously flirting.
[–]KrystalAthena 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
This was my comment that you first replied to
So you must have glossed over it or something
[–]thatshinobiboiii 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Compliment is written no where in that comment. It’s only talking about smoking and staring. Smiling is not a compliment
[–]KrystalAthena 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
It.... literally says "complimenting" right there lol
[–]thatshinobiboiii1 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
You right but in your initial teply to my first comment you said smiling and eye contact is a flirting tactic. You didn’t mention complimenting there, and it’s not flirting. In no universe is smiling and looking flirting unless you wink at them or something but then it’s just weird.
[–]KrystalAthena1 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Dude, I'm just gonna link the comment here
https://www.reddit.com/r/seduction/comments/vzd1i4/guy_at_work_i_like/igamao3?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3
The word "complimenting" is right in there
If you still wanna argue with me that that one specific word isn't there, then I can't help you read bro
That's your own fault at that point
And I’m gonna link the one I’m talking about since this is my comment thread. https://www.reddit.com/r/seduction/comments/vzd1i4/guy_at_work_i_like/iga5tzp/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3

We only live once why don’t girls stop starring or giving hints and just say what they feel ? Some guys don’t know what their intentions are we can’t read minds
[–]dreambeaver007 -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Because just like guys girls fear getting rejected. Or all of the many things that can go wrong. I think staring at him and trying to make eye contact with him is a perfect subtle way of getting his attention in situations where we can’t talk, like when he’s waitin in line
[–]xiosy 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Eye contact literally is the most normal thing how can I know if someone likes me if she only looks at me
[–]inline6throwaway 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
There's a difference between a girl looking at you and a girl giving you "that look." But even then if you find a girl looking at you over and over, that is a sign. You can tell the difference when you catch a woman's eye

Tease him that he owes you the cookie back. When he says he doesn't have it, suggest a date would settle things.
[–]MrBlack__ 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This! But oh lord you better be cute lol
[–]InhumaneBreakfast 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Write your name and number on something, keep it in your pocket. When he comes in next, lean in and softly say:
"Hey I think you're cute... are you single?"
You will know if he's interested or not depending on how he reacts. If he's interested, give him the number.
And don't worry about getting fired, no guy would do that.
[–]incognito3107 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Well, he may not be thinking about hitting you up at present, but still it is very much possible for him to get some interest in you. He just needs some more direct trigger or different circumstances.
[–]Verbarmammilla 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
A security guard at a bar I frequent recently told me that one of the bar girls has a big crush on me. That was perfect as the feeling was mutual but I didn't wanna creep her out by asking her out while working. Try that method. What you're doing is pretty overt, however, the guy may be in a relationship/gay or whatever so don't get too excited.
[–]Mundane_Natural5131 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link
Just keep saying hi to him every time he comes in so he can become familiar with you also if you give him that extended eye contact then look at his lips and back at his eyes with the smile he’s gonna know Whatsup
[–]dreambeaver007 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I literally do this so much. I try to make lots of eye contact especially when he’s paying and we’re talking
[–]Mundane_Natural5131 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link
Then you’re doing it right Just keep doing it he is gonna eventually pick up on the hint right now he probably thinks you are just being friendly since you are the cashier. maybe you can ask him if he has snapchat or instagram to see if he picks up the hint then most guys are dense as hell and dont pick up on hints im speaking from experience lol. Also when you say you hold eye contact does he hold it too? Or did he not notice when you were trying to lock eyes
[–]dreambeaver007 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
No he def holds it too… like a lot. And i want to ask these things but like I said there is literally no time for small talk. I have about 10 seconds for the card to go through the machine and the next person comes.
[–]Letsliveagain519 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Its difficult to differentiate between someone like a cashier flirting with you versus just giving good customer service.
Even if he suspects you might be flirting, it's not worth the risk of making lunch awkward 5 days a week. If I were in his situation I wouldn't want to make you uncomfortable at work.
Your best bet is probably just to write down your number, or social media and hand it to him one time with your order. If you had a bit more time for small talk you could try something slightly more subtle like "oh x movie just came out I really want to see it" or "I have heard that x restaurant is really good but I never have the chance to go." And hope he takes the bait. Good luck.

[–]dreambeaver007 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
How is that easier for a woman? Lol
[–]cangero0 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It is easier for women. Men have lower standards than women in dating, so it's easier for men than women to be rejected. I'm not saying women have it easier in dating or in life, I'm just saying in initiating dating it's easier for women

[–]whale_sports 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
But...honestly, I'm quite a bit more bold than others. My current GF, I picked up as a cashier 8 months ago at CVS. I liked her tattoos, and as she was cashing me out...I asked for her phone number so we could go...shoot pool, and have some drinks.

[–]funkmaster322 -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Just being cute is good enough for you at nineteen. Think of what you're parents would say if you got to talking to him.
You'd have to start lying, and being all scandalous. He's not going to help undermine your father.
Stop now.

Right, live and let live. All chilled out, no need for alarm, til her parents are wondering why their daughter lied. I would just sooner avoid the drama at work. They could have fun, though, as colleagues.
Stay professional. Perceive, conceive and achieve.... together or alone.
I hope this helps.
[–]ErgeMan3699 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I hear you, and I understand where you're coming from. However, living doesn't imply all chilled out, no need for alarm, etc.
Drama at work is politics, crushing on a customer isn't drama; it's part of being human.
Her crush is the stressor now, and not being able to express her feelings to him is the stress. And only when you face the stressor head on can you move on from your stress. Stress is triggered by emotion, and emotion is like a tunnel, it has a start, middle, and end.
Right now, OP is in the middle of the tunnel, and that's where emotional conflict arises.
Can we really expect OP to not be distracted at work/stay 'professional' whilst experiencing an emotional conflict?
There's a lot of nuances in this situation to consider and take into account. Life isn't all black and white.
I hope this helps too.

No offense op, lol just saying I doubt you’re there for a career in sandwiches
[–]dreambeaver007 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
But I make 16$ an hour 😞
That’s great! But someday, you’ll be making much more. And that’s when you probs should start considering not fucking around at work. IMO if subway doesn’t work out, move to serving. You’ll make much more in a shorter time span. Js, you’re 19, and aren’t working at JP Morgan… you can afford to have some fun too. Take some risks. Life is short
[–]P7o7s7t7a7l0 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
You should try the airport.
Hang out near the baggage claim.
You'll meet someone.
Have a sandwich....
Seriously, though, its just a good habit to instill. Keeping work separate from personal. Setting boundaries for yourself.
These are strong suits to have in life.
Culturally, you might differ. I don't expect everyone to agree. I look at how different some things in my life would be if they didn't generate from work. Some are good and some are bad. The more high profile jobs I've had don't really take my personal experience into consideration. They can become personal explotations because they generate from a job in my past. It's starts when you are young.
I don't expect you to take this that seriously, but it might be something you think about more later.
