Recently single after a few years. Mid 30’s…getting dates has never been easier in my life.

I’ve matured a lot, in the best shape of my life, have my stuff together, experimented with clothing and hairstyles that work for me.

The second part to that is I think you have a larger age range to work with. At 36yro dating 26 isn’t really out of the norm. Now at 26, dating someone 10 years younger is probably illegal. Personally at 36 I have no interest in dating someone with that age gap because I’m looking for a long term partner…but it is an option.

On the other end, older women also tend to like younger men but not too young. Mid 30’s seems to be a sweet spot because you’re still young and healthy but a lot more mature than a 20 something.

It's not that they just like older guys, it's that they like the maturity, stability, and lifestyle an older man can provide. On the other hand, men who are into older women tend to do so as more of a purely sexual thing - more experience, more free sexually, potentially some mommy issues, etc.

In the grand scheme of things, people tend to end up with people within a few years of their own age. Bigger gaps are actually somewhat rare, but there's certainly a subset of women who actively look for men who are older. Age also plays a major factor from the female standpoint. Add 10-20% to a young woman's age and you'll probably find the age of the men she's most attracted to. That seems to level out after say 25 or so.

We prefer to date someone who’s a bit older — 5 to 7 years is a sweet spot. It’s probably not a reality for older women but for women between 16 and 35 it’s true for sure.

Keep in shape. I recently found a journal from when I was 33 documenting my exploits and I amazed at how many dates I went on.

I'm 50 and when I go out I get girls always coming on to me maybe it's because I'm 6'5 but I have younger friends from work that are taller and they don't get the select man treatment. I think it's energy really.

Let’s look at it from a biological perspective. Men are still able to produce viable sperm and have children at an older age, while women are not. This is the main reason men prefer younger women. That is when women are most fertile. Men who had a genetic preference for younger women were more likely to pass those genes to their sons.

For women, there is no downside to an older man in this regard. No matter how old and wrinkly you are, as long as you can still impregnate her you’re good to go. But there’s an upside to an older man too. He is wiser, more mature, more developed career, more access to resources, and more ready to be a father. This all translates to a better likelihood of having successful children. Women are often ready to have kids at a younger age because biology dictates that they must or they lose their chance.

A man being older does not detract at all from his fitness to have children, and in fact it often enhances his fitness.

Women who prefer older men may be more likely to be successful in having successful children, and pass those older-men-preferring genes to their daughters, thus perpetuating the cycle.

Some prefer them but it's more accurate to say that most don't give a crap unless you look like total shit. A guy who let himself go at 30 ain't scoring with 18 year olds while a fit guy who looks like Johnny Sins' doppelganger will have them on their knees saying "daddy". They aren't as sensitive to it as men on average in my experience.

If you're asking questions as if any group of people is a monolith then you're already asking the wrong question. Yes, some women prefer older guys. Some women prefer guys their own age.

I’m 36 and have been dating a girl who’s 23. She is mature for her age and intelligent so we get along well. She thought I was in my late 20s when we met through mutual friends at her job. She came onto to me and made it obvious she was interested. She also isn’t on dating apps and wasn’t actively looking to date. So really it all depends on what you’re both looking for. I’m looking to settle down and so is she. We both want a long term relationship and maybe kids together. It’s nice that her biological clock isn’t ticking and she isn’t pressuring me to start a family.

Occasionally I’ll notice the age gap in little ways but 99% of the time she feels older than her age to me. She’s been very refreshing and fun to be around.

I think what women want is “perceived” maturity. I think we see the trend of women pursuing older men because an older man seems like they’ve finished growing. But then you hear cases where the older guy is actually still a man baby and the outer shell of a mature man was a facade

It makes sense. An older man is probably more likely to be emotionally mature than a guy in his early 20s. Doesn’t mean thats always the case though

Depends on the women and the culture. In America If you’re talking about very young women 18-22 - hell no. Those are college girls, they care a great deal about what their peers think - and the age range they look for is very narrow and the pool of guys they date is mostly limited to their college. There is a great deal of cultural social shame attached to them dating older than 3 years (and even that’s pushing it much of the time with gen z calling seniors who date freshmen pedos). Sometimes they’ll hook up with an older guy but they will never commit, will lie about it/hide it from their friends, and these girls are usually crazy. Above 23 it can vary a lot, many still feel uneasy dating more than 3 years early on but if they end up doing it they have a lot less friction preventing them from committing (No college reputation to uphold anymore).

In my experience every time an older guy has said dating is easier when they’re older etc - its because they’ve lowered their standards and are dating women who have lowered theirs (women above 30 or in 20s but ugly/overweight). I’m not interested in dating wives lying about their husbands and mothers hiding their children. Unfortunately the truth is that while women have “a clock” - so do men and its just as harsh.

I did when I was young and naive, think late teens to mid twenties. In my 30s now and it grosses me out. I can’t even enjoy movies/books with the age gap trope. No matter how you argue it, there’s always a power difference - whether it’s life experience, wealth, or literal brain development, which to me neutralises any form of consent. Yuck.
