This post relatively concisely summarises what I've been thinking for a long time. There is power in control over your emotions. Being steadfast and unwavering is beneficial to you and attractive to women.

However

I've not yet mastered the ability to remain in control, while also being trusting and vulnerable enough to be able to love romantically. In my mind, getting lost in emotion because of her is a very very bad idea. Everytime I'm with a woman, I'm always guarded enough that I'm aware of what I feel but, not so influenced by those feelings as to give her "a string to tug on". Invariably, I end up not developing feelings for her (not saying I want to, either). I just don't see how it's possible, given this attitude and disposition. In the end, I'm more intimate about what my feelings and thoughs with my platonic friends than I am with those I'm romatically/sexually involved with. I just don't trust that those women will want to stick around and pur effort fourth to satisfy me if I show them a moment of weakness. As such, I don't see the value or the pleasure in falling in love. To me, it just seems like a means to set yourself up for massive heartache.

What about you guys? How has it happened to you?

EDIT: Wow guys! I did not expect to receive these many comments this fast. I'll work through them as I can but, I won't be able to respond to every one. Thanks for the wise words.
