Women have makeup to make themselves more attractive. In fact you could argue that a lot of the imbalance between dating standards occur as a consequence of makeup (women who look uglier without makeup can pass off as more attractive during a first impression, and date a tall, attractive man who would not have swiped right on her otherwise). In a way it is an attractiveness equalizer, that pushes many women into the "highly attractive" category. Such a thing does not exist for men.

Of course, once you get to know somebody better you are more likely to consider their personality as well as their looks, so makeup becomes less of a factor when you get into a long term relationship. But it is 100% a large factor on the apps and to make first impressions.

Men also have the gym /personality improvement, etc to compensate for their looks. But I feel like a lot of us could learn from women here, and could benefit by upgrading our face card. At least for dating apps, or to get that first date. It is just one step beyond getting that good haircut/beard/etc.

But I have no clue where to start with this. If I want to use makeup to make myself more attractive but still look masculine as a guy how can I do it?
