The thing is there's online dating and social media and it will keep dominating the dating world.

Of course cold approach will always be an option but I think it will be even less prominent in years to come. I'm even afraid it will be stigmatized in negative ways even further until we approach fully digitalised dating (for initial contact).

Not to say I want to see that happen, I don't. But look at the upcoming generation.. half of their lives is already happening online, social competence and meeting in person suffers. And I'm afraid this trend will continue.

I can't even count myself out: I met my current gf on Tinder and I gotta admit.. it was easier than approaching, it really was. Sure there are many frustrations and setbacks but with patience, good pics and a decent physique, I eventually found my girl as a guy with average facial features.

The amount of couples meeting on Tinder and similar apps is crazy in my social circle. It's already the new norm.

I think people write about it less, because pick up community was based around sex being valuable and hard to get. Today it’s generally much less valuable and hard to get for a lot of reason (and it’s good). A lot of stuff was made easier (online is just one of the reasons) and a lot of «discoveries» of «pick up community» were incorporated into the mainstream. The society is much more mature and chill as a whole, in my opinion, even if it might seem to be the opposite. People don’t feel motivated to write a lay report, just like they don’t feel motivated to write a report about going to the bathroom or grocery store.

Game has been established a few decades ago, miniscule things are changing but the major picture remains the same. The guys who are good at game very rarely post about their success. It's the crabs that get laid once in a lifetime that make posts for attention grabs. Most guys are like you, they contiuously search for results because it's easier to read than to learn on your own.

So I just try to Google some basic things about seduction such as F-closes, field reports etc and I realised that most posts are from 8 to 10 years ago.

What you're noticing is part of a natural trend with advice subreddits like this one.

People come to a place and try to learn together.
Some of them learn and become experts or at least improved over time.
Their desire to be involved in that subreddit goes down when their primary motivation for going there disappears because they have learned what they set out to learn.
Then they leave/focus on other things in life.

I think for the modern age a lot of those things seem odd and don't apply now.

Let's run down the list.

F-closes: This is when you bring the plane in for a landing. When someone finally gets to the sex part. That's all this means. Sex is still happening, so f-closes are still happening.
Field reports: Simply reporting when you tried something. Usually when things go well. Since most of the experts cycle out once they learn how it works, field reports have died off. In their wake, we are left with newbs posting about questions they have about failed attempts.

In general, nothing that's happened at this subreddit means that seduction doesn't work.

People are still hooking up. They're still out there having sex.
People still interact and those interactions require social skills that people can learn if they don't already have them.

The basics of game haven't changed because they're based in human nature.

Take cold approach for example. This is basically "how to start a conversation with a stranger." People do this all the time and it can go well or go poorly. There's nothing inherently odd about people meeting new people. Happens all the time.

What's weird is when people don't know what they're doing and go out and rapid approach a lot of people when they don't have good social skills. That leaves a mess in their wake.

Meanwhile, someone who has the basics down could go shopping for clothes and "cold approach" people, just making conversation with others during the process.
