So I spent today at work thinking about a bunch of shit I want to hammer into my brain, and how I want to live my life. Wrote them all up when I got home, and then since seddit is so much about self improvement I thought I would share. Alot of this stuff is relevant to me and my mistakes over the past few years, so its not all inclusive, but hopefully someone can take something from it and not make the same stupid mistakes I have.

Here we go:

1. HEALTH. Eat well, get good sleep, get good excersise, take vitamin tablets, and fucking start meditating.

2. Don't be bitter about shit. Get mad, but let it go, don't dwell on it forever, that shit will eat you up.

3. Don't be friends with people who constantly bitch about their other 'friends', chances are they do the same to you. Also don't take any bitching about friends from friends at face value ever, try and see both sides.

4. To add to that don't be the guy who bitches about his friends. Its not a good look. Sometimes you get grumpy and its so easy, or just to jump on the bandwagon hating someone else, but dont do it. It can cause unnessecary problems and also makes you a dick.

5. Don't get involved with the distribution of drugs. No matter how smart you think you're being, on a long enough timeframe something unexpected will come out of the blue and fuck your shit up.

6. Self improvement is basically what will make you happy in life. Improving social skills, personality, relationship skills, emotions, general life skills, and improving at your hobbies/talents, are the keys to doing this. They also make you more desirable as a friend, boyfriend, to employers, and you have more fun with your general lifestyle.

7. Many people dislike you because they think you dislike them, assume everyone is awesome and being nice to you when you first meet them, if you're not standoffish a lot of time people will be drawn into that frame and be unable to help but be nice in return (whereas otherwise they may not have been).

8. If you want to cheat on your significant other, grow some fucking balls and dump them. It's never, ever worth it.

9. Don't 'follow your dreams' for a day job. Thats a load of horseshit (unless its a practical dream). Do something practical, that you dont hate. Leverage that later to follow your dreams either as a hobby, or later on when you're secure.

10. Fuck social conventions, go out alone or with people you hardly know, and/or people from vastly different agegroups/friendgroups. Sometimes it will be shit, sure, but often it will actually be heaps of fun in an unexpected kind of way.

11. In all relationships/friendships make sure the value you get from eachother is flowing 2 ways.

12. Social connections are the keys to almost everything in modern life. Make many.

13. Learn how to fight. Chances are you will need this at a couple of points throughout your life and you NEED the training to fall back on when the adrenline is pumping. This is not something you want to not know how to do in a moment of crisis. edit: this should read as 'learn self defense'. Poor phrasing on my part. I am not trying to imply you should go out of your way to look for a fight.

14. Don't look for a relationship, if you're looking too hard you will impose qualities that don't exist on the first decent person that comes along. As such it will probably not work out because the person wont be acting like the person you want to be with in your mind. Wait for the right person to come along, when you have heaps of potential options, but you know for sure.

15. For each hardship in life make sure you learn something, internally or otherwise. Alot of these hardships you will be greatful for in the future when you're no longer hurt, but you have retained the knowledge and life experience.

16. Don't get hung up on the past, keep moving forwards.

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY 17. If you work full day shifts at work, make sure you take your daily shit at work. I don't give a fuck how nasty the toilets are there, you will get paid to shit and you will like it.
