Just be careful of starting an opener with "hey, can I get a female opinion on something". Many women have heard it so many times (usually from guys just starting out with this stuff) they automatically cringe.

I'd just get her attention and get right to the meat of it "hey I'm trying to play matchmaker for my friend..."

Best way to know is to try it out a few times! When I do stuff like that I also explain that im a hopeless romantic, works well for me. Maybe try to work that in there and see what it does...

Worst I can see is that they'll see it as creepy, and then Meh, you're in the same spot you were before you started

Where did you use this opener? (bar, book store, street, etc) and where you from?

I like this opener, and it'll definitely get you a fun conversation afterwards. But at the same time, I feel like it would only work on the easy going type of girls. Avoid girls with bitch shields raised for this one.

I do like how simple it is, but the thing that really appeals to me is that it seems like there's a lot of options for further conversation. If she continues to talk she could ask you about any of the things you mentioned about yourself. If she doesn't you could ask her about herself.

I'm a newbie so, am I thinking about this correctly or are there any better ways to continue this opener?

lol. ever since i can remember women will put your ass in the friend zone if you walk up to her smile and JUST introduce yourself. nah. In this day and age we NEED a reason for us to talk talk (the opener) to each other (as single people) that where openers come in. whether you like it or not or choose to ignore it. men and women will not talk to each other on an intimate level without having some "game" unless they both believe that they are on the same level of attraction OR one is reaching out of his number 1-10. good line btw xeno!
