I have a first date tonight that I set up through OKC. We're both 23 years old and we're meeting for drinks at a bar. We both answered "yes" to the question, "would you consider sleeping with someone on the first date?". This has my hopes up that I should try to get her back to my place at the end of the night. However, I posted in /r/askseddit with essentially the same idea and people there seemed to think that trying to take her home on the first date would most likely fail/make her uncomfortable. What are your thoughts?

Regarding mentioning your %s, I've rarely seen it done in a good way. Perhaps slipping the phrase "we seem to match well" or similar into a larger reply, but a lot of messages bringing up percentages feel like they lose their narrative and tend towards "Hello generic candidate, I am messaging you because the computer told me to".

If anything I would say teasing them about the enemy rating is a better approach. It steers them towards the match rating without actually quite bringing it up.

I would highly recommend against using questions(or the suggested use of questions). I have had an abysmally low return rate on any message with a question(especially of the sort inquiring for more information about something specific, general is worse - I experimented). You, however, know how to make a good question and have given me things to think about.

My profile has netted me a lot of successes if anyones interested in looking it over for ideas or whatever. I usually get a few messages from girls (all over the board in attractiveness mind you) every week, and responses are fairly decent when I make first contact.

Couple of purposeful things, while all my interests are accurate, i kept it short and cast as wide a net as I could while still being truthful. I also have been in boston for a few years, and know of plenty of good sushi places. Yet the most frequent message I get is some girl knows "the best place" and would love to show it to me. Or they are interested in sailing.

I've gotten some phenomenal results by approaching girls on okc simply as new people to party with. My group goes out 3-5 times a week and were always looking for new people, and girls have responded a lot better to that then the prospect of a date with a stranger

I had great success with this, especially Tofu's guide, linked first. I dropped the "Hey How are you" part after about 5 messages and my response rate went up.

I signed up for POF on Saturday, sent 15 messages since. I've got 3 dates, and a few more slow convos going.

I don't even think my profile or pics are that good yet, I just grabbed a couple from Facebook and it's all good.

Here's my OK Cupid guide.

First delete your account if you have one. If not then don't make one.

Next do what you should be doing. Going to bars, clubs or living your life and approach women that you feel attracted to.

Ask for their number. Set up a date.

Firstly online dating takes all the things that make a relationship a relationship out of it. Attraction is based on what she or he says they do and what they are like. The pictures are all posed and chosen by her or him. Id much rather catch someones eye or vice versa in a real life then skip it by looking at a profile. I want to learn about a person naturally. I know that's gonna happen anyways when you set up a date on OK cupisld right? Well maybe but it will never be the same as the old fashioned way.

The old fashioned way:

This isn't easy. Its hard. Your nervous at first to approach some stranger out on the street or in a bar. Its a journey though and with practice you get better. I hate how we think the internet is a quick fix for everything.

Gentlemen, you have balls. Use them. Confidence is key. Show and say what you want. If women is what you want then show them or say something. "Hi I'm b204257, you looked interesting and if I didn't take the chance now to chat you up when would I?" Looking her in the eyes the entire time. Now your having a conversation. "Well I have to go to.... here put your number in here and we can get coffee sometime to get to know each other better." Done and done.

fuck okc not a single girl in my area over a 5. I get messages from ugly ass women all the time that just say "saw your profile, you seem cool" to which I respond not interested. Also it doesn't take anything you say into account I say I don't want a woman with kids and all of them in my quiver have children... Also they they are bat shit crazy jesus freaks. Also I drink almost every night and everyone I come in contact with is like anti drinking...fuck ok cupid. I haven't even seen 5 girls worth messaging much less 25...
