I’ll help. Have a funny story ready about “what do you do for a living?” Say something upsurd and playful. Example “I’m a penguin whisperer, i whisper to penguins and give them advice on how to find a perfect mate. I even help with the stones they find. Afterwards i leave him and his girl to um… “kiss” let’s say…” my favorite was saying I’m a penguin and polar bear trafficker lol. Aside from that flip the conversation and make sure you’re leading it. “Oh how was your day?” “The real question is ‘how was your day?’” “How old are you?” “Real question is how old are you?! You could be a some creepy old man for what i know… i got to protect myself 🫣” have interesting trivia and something that taps into the emotions like “what was the nicest thing someone has ever done for you?”

Use emojis every other response. Limit it 1 emoji every use. Don’t use the same emoji in a row. Make sure to use these ❤️ 💔 😏 🫠 🥹 🙈

Try to shortform longer words, the shorter your text are the better - def instead of definitely etc, but don’t shortform every possible word if your over 30.

Ultimately though you need to get the ON A PHONE CALL as quick as possible. Then you have higher chance for a date

The problem in the path from match to date is comfort and safety. Texting won’t build much safety. Being normal on a phone call will. FaceTime even better (but you might get some resistance because some people are just shy about that). And if you can get on a call, they hear your voice, how you talk, laugh etc, they will be pretty down to go on a date after 20 mins of back and forth. Just be fucking normal on the phone, ask about THEM. Do not talk much about yourself, people like you better the more they tell you about themselves - not the more you tell them about you

Maybe 5 exchanges then “hey we should jump on a QUICK phone call date, free later at 8pm?” (you want them to feel like it’ll only be 5 mins, but expect it to last about 20 - 30 mins if chemistry is good)

Now hear me out. Women like confidence, they also like audacity that isn’t rude and you’re asking a question that gets them thinking about potato’s. Women love carbs.

It also lets them know you’re not a creep that immediately starts talking about their body or the way they look.

But within the answers you can begin to make innuendos because the discussion is now pleasure. Nobody talks about potatoes they like without reliving the pleasure of them and while pleasure is on her mind, you can steer the conversation towards flirting.

I was going to offer advice along the lines of- don’t focus on texting, just use it to set up dates, but I see you’re asking about that specifically.

My advice is, be fun and flirty, not super sexual but reasonably clear with your intentions, have one interaction (conversation or just brief exchange) and then ask her out pretty quickly. Ask her to a specific activity on a certain day in a public place (usually for dates this is a good rule, hookups obviously sometimes meet at house). If she declines and doesn’t offer an alternate day walk away (don’t unmatch but just message other girls). She might come back to in a week or so with a reason you can accept for why she didn’t message, but also don’t count on this happening. Try to set a date for not too long after you start talking (ideally that week).

The day before text to confirm you’re still keen and check she is. It’s not unusual to exchange a few more messages the day of leading up to meeting. In general, just be fun, flirty, not rude but clear about what you want and ask her out before chatting heaps. Golden rule is if she’s responding she’s probably still interested. Be easy to reply to, don’t send long paragraphs or complicated messages or questions. Better to send a few short ones.

Make jokes if you see them even if they’re a little goofy and fall flat. Try have fun with it. Don’t play games or engage with them. In my age bracket at least (late 20s), the women I date seem to appreciate reasonably clear communication and intentions. Having a half decent profile with a description, few photos of you doing fun things and somewhat clear dating goals will help. Don’t take it too seriously and be willing to walk away. Don’t be afraid of being a little polarising because that’s how you’ll find people you enjoy spending time with.

Also this is mostly dating text advice, it’s a little different texting for hookups. It’s much better to use texting for setting up dates and then get to know them in person. Having a big text conversation with lots of connecting might be great but also will more likely lead to her getting bored or her feeling a lot of pressure about the date and cancelling.

Make opened comments in text that beg a response. If they ask how you are doing never say "good" "amazing" that ends it.

Say "I had a break through on the bank I have been casing. I think I can get into the vault from underneath, but I could use someone to distract the guards....sidenote: what are you doing on Wednesday?"

If you ever get a "shit test" like "you ever wanna have kids?" Always duck/dive/dodge - use this as a great opportunity to accuse her of liking you. So respond like "oh, you think we would make good parents? You should know I'm not above putting kids to work at the circus."

So on and so on. Ya gotta train your brain to think outlandish.

Ok before I even say anything about texting, online dating is inherently flakey for both guys and girls. I’ve met up w sexy girls off hinge and they say they get ghosted on dates all the time. Anyway, don’t let it get you down. It happens to everybody.

There are definitely general principles to texting but flirting and subsequently texting is an art. It’s not black and white so with that, there’s not a ton of hard and fast advice is the answer to the question in your title.

I hate to not be overly helpful, but truly how to text really depends on the girl and on you, as in your personality.

I help my friends with texting all the time but it’s only due to the fact they can send me screenshots of the convo or screen share on FT and walk me thru the general back and forth they’ve had so far.

It mostly contradicts if you try to type out advice. For example, personally, I tend not to be overly sexual over text until we’ve already smashed. I don’t want them to get the impression I’m using them for sex, a creep, or desperate. Generally speaking, I think it’s safe to say that’s generally applicable advice.

The reason I can’t say that’s an divine, holy, ironclad advice is if you’re talking to a certain type of chick, she may take your lack of sexual pressure as not being confident or that you’re boring. But you’d only know that if you knew the chick... In this case, you’re the only one that knows the chick. Taking this further, it gets even tricker with OLD as you barely know her beyond her (likely) terrible profile.

I usually will pick something off their page to comment on that opens up the conversation. It can be funny or flirtatious but doesn’t have to be. It could be relatively mundane as long as it’s somewhat compelling to reply to. Not every girl needs you to come up with a crazy one liner or make her die laughing from a text.
